Yeah that's right. I've been testing and researching since about June or July.
You sly dog you kept that one quiet what's it like?
ah please, he's been telling anyone who'd listen about that one :-p [That's my jealous side talking]

It's been finalized that International Tournaments will not be in the first version. Too bad but they say that it's very high on the priority list for the next version. Then it's just a matter of how long we'll need to wait for the second version. Fingers crossed on big sales!

Archi, are you allowed to comment on the speeds of simulation? EHM is slow compared to OOTP but then again EHM has alot more leagues and game to simulate on the fly which will be more similar to FHM.

Haha! :D

Regarding the speed, it's hard to say. I guess a fair way of comparing is to compare running the ten playable leagues in FHM with running ten leagues on 'Enhanced' in EHM. At this stage I'd say it's certainly not slower than EHM. I wouldn't want to say any more as it's obviously a beta and functions may subsequently be added which slow things down (along with additional data in the database). But I'd definitely say at this stage it's noticeably not slower... ;)

One question Archi. Will it be possible as a GM to start in a lower league and make your way up to the NHL just by waiting to see some GM get fired and working on your reputation?

Thanks in advance!

Yes - that's right. Similar to EHM, you can set your starting reputation too.

Thats all good then, I'll probably attempt to build some super dynasty in Europe before moving across the Atlantic, although, I will probably try and have a couple of seasons of EIHL before I settle down too.

I think it would be cool to be given contracts as a GM. Noticed that FM has that feature now and it's pretty cool. OOTP doesn't do it so i really don't expect it in FHM but i will continue to dream.

I find it interesting that the FHM subforum has risen above EHMs  Is it just a matter of time until EHM TBL becomes simply TBL...seems like from the title of the site the process has already begun :-p

In FHM GM's have a contract. When you start unemployed you have to negotiate a contract with any club around the world that has an opening. The offers are based on your experience, so don't expect a NHL offer when you are a greenhorn. :)

Ha! Not at all! :D It's simply because if FHM were below the EHM section, it'd get lost between that and the DMHNL section. But yeah, I am working on improving the site generally and this includes giving the FHM section more prominence. I want to do all I can to help ensure FHM is a success.

I do wonder how much interest there will be in EHM once FHM is released. It would be sad if EHM were no longer to be spoken about or kept up to date. It feels that it has only been the past 18 months where we have really been able to get the most out of the game since it's cancellation. I'll probably play both games, but I have to admit that FHM is looking like a very real contender to the throne (which is great news).

I hope TBL continues to support EHM at least as long as there are people actively playing it. Not everyone will switch to FHM and some may try it but like EHM better. For all it's faults EHM still is a helluva game and has gotten better with all the updates and mods done by the community and TBL>  :-D

I completely agree. As far as I'm concerned, EHM will always have a home at TBL. Personally, so long as there are still people developing updates, etc then I'll continue playing it.

Uh oh. I was thinking I would probably stick mostly with EHM because it is what I know, and I am getting older (yeah yeah), and with the kids do not have much gaming time. Plus....time to get a job.

But.....negotiating my contract? Um, this is starting to sound way too cool for me.

My biggest concern for EHM future is that the same people who put all their time and energy into the modding and updating of the game are the same people who are involved in FHM. Archi, Manimal, allesandro, etc etc are all on the FHM site and they are at least somewhat involved. I am not sure they will be able to put time and energy into both games.

Thus in reality...I see that this will become FHM: THe BLue line.....F comes after E.....so the NEXT GENERATION.

And I am fine with that. Life goes on and change happens. Let the new replace the old. At one point...EHM was the new kid on the block and kicked out other games.....

Not to say I am dropping Riz.....but unless Riz can convince SI to do up a new, better more exciting EHM in the future with better AI etc.....FHM is the wave of the future for hockey management Sims and that is that.

Yes, i agree. That is a fantastic unexpected surprise and it adds such a great element in encouraging GMs to start at other leagues besides the NHL if they so choose. Hopefully there is an easy way for us to keep track of our major junior players careers so we can watch them develop into hopeful NHLers as we try to do the same from the GM box.

Even if FHM does completely takeover EHM, lets face it, the EHM section won't go anywhere. It does have a special place in all our hearts

I'm so glad to hear this, as it's quite literally the only way I play.

This might have been covered already somewhere, sorry, but anyway, do you plan to implement all the aspects of the new CBA ?

They're going to try to implement the new CBA rules into the first version of the game. If they run out of time, they'll add them via a free game patch.

Have the details been released yet? Hopefully they will soon now that the players and owners have made it official.

EDIT: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showt ... ?t=1317097 - a good thread started on it on HF boards. I think it'll take time for all the details to be released but at least we know all the major parts of it already.

To be honest, I can't imagine the game being all that demanding for the likes of WINE and CrossOver. :-)

That's good to hear. Although I've read that EHM 2007 is also running almost flawlessly under wine - apart from some problems with saving preferences - I don't know if old licenses can still be revived. Not that it would be that expensive to buy new ones...

Yeah, Stinson had EHM running under WINE and I (and Stinson) had it running under CrossOver without a problem. So long as you can copy over a preferences file (IIRC this might have only been an issue with WINE and not CrossOver - but I can't fully remember). In fact, it seemed to run faster under WINE/CrossOver than Windows!

I have a feeling that some official news will be coming this week.

At the same time, they really need to get the official FHM webpage up.

They can be revived, I've done it on a couple of occasions in recent times, with new laptop purchases and things like that.
