Excited for the new season to start? With the TBL Lockout-end rosters you will be able to play a full NHL 2012-13 season with updated rosters. The rosters will be updated also in the European leagues, with tons of new players and prospects added to make the game even better.
We anticipate that the rosters will be released on 19 January itself.
Let us know any request, but be kind and realistic: we have just 1 week

1. Prospects for the 2013 ohl/qmjhl/whl draft
2. Minnesota highschool hockey
3. NCAA
Sorry, but we're focusing on roster players for playable leagues first.
Nobody is researching the chl draftees or hig school hockey. If you want to you can do it for a future release
Can´t wait for new update 5.1.
I noticed in 5.0 version Tomas Hertl is 24m years old and hi is not playing for Slavia but some second division team. Can somebody fixed this issue please?
One more question how come there less teams in AHL than in reality (there is 30 teams).
Can somebody advice when new release will be downoadable?

Than you very much for your answer.
There are two Tomas Hertl and the "second one" is the correct one. Check better, because he is in the db.
Would be nice if the DB got a huge chunk of players born 97' the game gets so much more depth when you can go for two or three drafts with real players. Also it would be nice with atleast some quick scouting on attributes beacuse when you leave them all empty it will be all randomized with a 175 cm 15 yearold with 18 strength or a guy with 18 acceleration and 2 speed. Atleast give some basic attributes.

There won't be any 97s from North America as we are lacking the researchers. We barely have time to do the older guys

Yes I know but drafted one should be younger who is playing Slavia no?

It would be great, but we are a very little bunch of people with full time jobs and families... It would be nice if someone would step up and help, and not always asking
nino33 wrote:Just curious...how would one go about reseaching 16 year olds? What "data resources" are there?
It's doable, the problem is that sadly we don't have time, look at the amout of job we did on the latest update. A great result. But oh God, how great it would have been if we had some little spare time more
I could to some research for Sweden, Norway and Denmark. I never done it before but i know the young players quite well since i watched the WJC, WHC-17 ivan hlinka, U-18 for the last years. Just tell me what to do
Researching young players is next to impossible to get accurate for a variety of reasons?
1. How do you see them all and make accurate scouting reports on them? THey all play in their local areas where they live. So how does someone who lives and has a life in say Toronto scout and learn about kids and how they are as players who play in say...Los ANgeles, or Moscow, or Sochi or Japan? Not to mention just within their own country. A real life a real job....a real situation (school whatever) ....how can you find these kids?
2. Judging by stats--Only works when you KNOW the quality of the league, and teams. There are many 97 born players who have stats of 80 goals and 80 assists in 50 games or so even in a city like mine..>Vancouver. Sure you can find those numbers on line...but how would someone from Chicago or Finland know what the quality of opposition was? I once scored 260 points in 45 games at age 15...guess what? someone from Finland would say I was awesome. In reality....I was not even close to awesome. Just was the best player in a bad league.
3. There are very very few scout reports out there on kids born in years like 97. Sure...use the WHL draft. Ever heard of Jordan Watkins? Kid was taken pretty darn high in the WHL draft a few years ago. Where is he now? OODLES of examples of WHL, OHL, Q drafts being totally incorrect and guys not drafted getting ahead. So....just using draft information would be real bad. Not even close to accurate.
4. Sure...there are guys out there who probably know their own little fiefdoms and areas....and maybe just maybe you can collect some of them into a research pod for young guys....but their biases will show big time. And all you have to do is look at Junior draft threads on any public board to realize that. Kids parents, the kids themselves and guys who "Say" They are scouts post stuff all the time.
5. Sure...look at a site like Western ELite hockey prospects----they have some info....but guess how sites like that decide on how players rate? They have guys who PAY them for write ups etc....guess who those people are? So yeah ...totally worthless. Sure..they have one or two scouts out there probably...but are those guys right? Check out their lists for WHL, OHL, Q drafts the past few years and you will realize not even close.
6. BIAS BIAS BIAS...too much bias with the young ones.
7. NO way to predict accurately how the kids as young as 96-97 ages etc will develop. Absolutely not possible really. Only standouts such as RNH are clearly obvious....and even then you are not sure (Slight size...what about injury?)
Really....other than setting general CA and PA for these kids, and what their roles are OFF and DEF....there is not much you can predict accurately at that age...in terms of how they will be as adults. God super stud players who are drafted into the NHL quit at age 18-19-20. Kids who are ranked in NHL draft predictions....quit. They dont have desire. Even the pro scouts who work watching these guys do not even know...so how the heck can some dude from wherever know enough to give ANY KIND of predictability on someone from somewhere else? They cannot. So random has to be the way to go.

I couldn't agree more. Not only is it the only way to go, it'll also ensure nice variety. It'll take the fun out of it if you know Player X born in 1997 will always turn out a superstar in EHM. Just like real life, it needs to be a lottery. The only research worth doing is probably to generate a list of players with their DOBs. The rest should probably all be randomly set.
As for the number of researchers - we're really very much a bare bones team right now. To properly re-rate a league of 20 teams takes a huge amount of time and commitment. We're lucky to have the researchers we do have (because they all put in a great deal of work - and we get a hell of a lot updated over the summer for v5.0), but we really could do with a few more. I've been drawing up a research spreadsheet which is easier to use for those users uncomfortable with CSVs. Once I've had more feedback on it from the present researchers, I'll upload it publicly.
I can see your point, but imo that could be solved by using -13, -14 potential for example. My purpose was not to hand out -9 and -10 potential to a bunch of 16 yearolds. My point was that the atrributes generated by EHM is really poor and unbalanced like i said a guy with 18 acceleration and 2 speed is just ridicoulous or a 170cm/65kg guy with 18 strength.

That's a fair point (although I'm not 100% sure about the Acceleration and Speed thing - Acceleration is just an indicator how quickly it takes to reach top speed - I didn't think there necessarily had to be a correlation with the Speed attribute). It's frustrating that the game doesn't generate appropriate profiles - there's too much randomness. The strength thing will be fixed with the next version of the Updater - it will automatically set the appropriate Strength attribute according to the player's height and/or weight for everybody in the database. We could, for example, create some different "profiles" of physical attributes and assign them randomly to these young players. Although it won't be accurate to real life, at least it would ensure that young prospects have some sort of realistic profile.

I should have it online in a couple of hours. Just running through a final test and will then create the 2006-adjusted version.
