Beta updates might not be all that frequent, but thankfully roster updates should be available on a weekly basis.
Apparently the Mac beta is expected later this year. Please note this warning from OOTP about purchasing a licence if you have a Mac: We also can't promise that a license purchased now will work on a Mac later (it's likely, but definitely not certain), so the safest route will be holding off on buying the game if you only have access to a Mac.
