Forum rules PLEASE NOTE: ADVERTISING A LEAGUE/COMPETITION/WEB SITE/FORUM IS NO LONGER PERMITTED ANYWHERE ON THE BLUE LINE. We have had too many people take liberties with this privilege; signing up simply to advertise their site and not actually contributing to the community. We also see a lot of bumping of threads which is really just spamming the site. Anybody that advertises anything on TBL will be permanently banned for spamming.
Wierdness message me with the email you want me to send the invite to; I used your TBL subscribed email but seem to not have gotten it or you just need to retrieve it and set up your team.
We need one more player to join up! Message me your email and I'll get you set up
Roster size was expanded as suggested by ESPN based upon our league size. This is since the pool of players is giant compared to number of players in the league: There's 32 teams and six of us so for example that's 3 playable quality receivers on each team meaning a pool of 96 solid potential point producers just for that position even if everyone had 7 receivers going that's not even half of the avaialble number... we'll have just over half the league's QBs active as well and 'round 3/4 of the leagues RB.
This will give people more options when bye-weeks kick in and players aren't available that week or are out with short term injuries etc. I gave us a max number of IR spots so you'd really have to hit a giant streak of injuries to not have people available to play.
Okay, I'm re-reopening signup here since wierdness hasn't checked in at ESPN to officially claim his spot yet we still have an opening for someone to play. The draft processes in about two weeks so you have plenty of time yet, we just need to fill the slot. So let me know if you want to play and I'll send you the invite to your TBL listed email.
It's not at Yahoo but it is free; ESPN made their Football leagues free starting last year so the league is free to enter.
I've set you both up with invites and actually I added two additional slots to keep us balanced in two divisions of four so there is still one more slot open if Wierdness checks in and wants to play; otherwise anyone else who wants in just let me know as we can add people for a few weeks yet and I can adjust things
ESPN's Fantasy Football is so slick and detailed because it's a case of following the money; it's one of those "because we can" things, they can run it for free just to squash the competition. There baseball is very very good as well but their hockey basicly has been the same for the past three years, it doesn't even have it's own home page now They put it up for signup finally like three weeks before the season started last year... and their drafts were worse than ever. So beside my free three-year long keeper league I won't play there anymore because they obviously don't care.
That is saying something since I've played there since 1997 and always been a big advocate of theirs, I even wrote as their Fantasy Correspondent for the Blackhawks for three years 2000, 2001 and 2002 (as can be proven via my ESPN Fantasy Player's Profile ). [/rant]
Hells yeah! I'll set you up right now if your TBL email address can recieve an invite from ESPN; if any of you three haven't gotten the invite within the hour or so check your spam/bulk folders as they might get diverted there after tripping a spam filter of some sort.
With two extra teams I've bumped down the roster slots a bit, the aim is just to have a good proprotion of the players that could put up good stats on people's rosters so it doesn't get silly; for example I have us set up to each play two kickers a week. If we didn't do that each week, even now with eight teams, there would be three times as many starting kickers on benches or as free agents then would be involved in the scoring of the league. Dat ain't right... so the numbers are "adjusted standard rosters" because we don't have to be locked into a system that demands we select X number of players at X number of positions. This will be more fun, and give everyone more people to look for each week in the highlights/boxscores.
It keeps bumping our date back because the league's not filled yet and it won't process the draft until it is; but I reset it to get us teams before the Thursday opener. Thanks for double-checking that.
I also set it to individual game time player locks instead of "first game of the week" for more flexability given the odd early game of the first week; so as long as the player's game hasn't kicked off yet he can be moved into/out of the week's lineup. We'll probably reset that after week one.
Given that it's almost midnight central time leaving 7 hours until the draft my ski bum buddy Chris, who goes by CP has taken on a team to balance us out; I set it to seven and it made someone take a bye week each week to compensate which just sucks. I want people to have a matchup every week even if it's just beating up on a (not so) humble fishing guide/ski instructor from Colorado
CP and I went to University of Wisconsin together "back in the day" where he dropped out to move to Colorado and ski and fish all year... yeah I kinda wish I'd done the same to be honest but anyhows he and some of his fellow guides have a weekly football get together so he'll at least be able to keep up with his team. If either Wierdness of bluesfan still wants to play he'll turn the team over to ya, but he was cool enough to at least commit to help us out get the league going. So we'll all have teams in the morning in time for Thursdays' opening matchup and well ahead of the opening games this wknd.
I've made it so playoff matchups are one week long. This way everyone makes the playoffs for at least one game and you'll have to win three matchups to take the year's title We've also set the playoffs to start a week earlier than usual so we can avoid having the Championship matchup be during a week where teams decide to rest their starters early to keep people healthy for the playoffs
