It's all about one man's quest to wind up Patrick Kane when the Hawks played the Wings!
I really can't believe Kane was dumb enough to acknowledge the signs. I can't. Man he still has some real growing up to do, maybe that shouldn't be surprising. The thing to do is NOT go tattle to your team's staff about the signs and try to get security to remove them, because then the fan has already won. So the guy already won w/ confirmation he already got to Kane.

A different guy is going to the game tonight at the Joe and took requests for similar signage. I believe Kane is once again the target. So if Kane wanted it to stop, he merely saw to it that it's only just beginning...

Where'd you come across that, Archi? I check WIIM pretty regularly and sometimes trade tweets with the writers. I'm assuming it got linked somewhere else?

Well maybe in the head of that noob in the crowd he won but I wouldn't disagree if Kane complained about that. I can't say much since it's only pictures and I didn't watched the game but if the guys were really tenacious it's near harassement to me. I know a pro athlete should have the mentality to ignore that but at some point enough is enough. But as I said, didn't watched the game so...

LOL at Kane complaining. Should ignore it, but sometimes things get too personal for people who are living public lives. IT happens in every barn and it happens with every single team who has a star player. This guy just has a blog and starts spouting off about what a baby Kane is.

Guys in other barns who have had pictures of loved Dead Things of the past like Draper, Maltby, McArthy etc....they too have been asked to remove them. But they did not have a blog to point out what a baby someone else is.

Silly to think that Kane is the only one to have a complaint, or that it is not common place.
S

Sorry but I highly doubt you would be too happy if you were harrassed by some weirdo at your office who was a customer of a rival company.

just ridiculous to think any worse of Kane for this than people already do. He gets hammered and passes out in public, picks up ugly girls in Vancouver with a married man in his car (Madden) and gets his cousin to beat up cab drivers. calling out a guy for being too personal with a sign? Big deal...happens everywhere in every sport.

Crosses the line when people put up signs of family members who have private lives and are not part of the spectacle of the NHL playoffs. This fan crossed the line. Is it horrible ...no. But it should be put a stop to, and the Hawks team should not have even had to ask. It should never have been allowed. The Red WIng usher who allowed it to, should be reprimanded.

I think it was mentioned on Twitter. I don't use Twitter to tweet but I do use it an awful lot to follow hockey and current events. It's a lot easier than visiting numerous sites each day (especially in relation to the UK leagues where information is spread thinly across many websites and forums).

So... this is happening. Kane has of course now created a monster.

http://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2013/5 ... conference

http://www.theroyalhalf.com/2013-articl ... hawks.html

An LA Kings blogger for The Royal Half was following WIIM's adventures in signage to take to the game in the CHI series, and has asked for the image of Kane's mom to post to her site, to be distributed to as many Kings fans as possible. The goal is an arena full of Kane's mom at warmups and of course later in the games. She has even provided an image of a speech bubble so fans can invent their own Kane's Mom sayings and mottos.

Yup, this is working out so much better for Kane than just ignoring it in the first place...

Those people got nothing better to do? This is so immature. I doubt if Kane would've ignored them it would've changed something. This is not just a joke it's called harassment IMO.

Seems a little cruel on his mum, IMO. :dunno: Fill the arenas with images of Kane's head perhaps, but maybe not his mum's.

So... have fun, offseason DB updaters!

This is from DJ Gentile (@GentilECHL on Twitter), breaking down the current offseason state of minor pro hockey in North America, from the AHL on down to the FHL.

I am already all over it!

As things stand right now(with Fort Worth leaving the CHL something he had not on his list yet) we have the same amount of teams in the game as IRL, so I do not want any more team changes!

He actually did include them. Ft. Worth is listed as "Texas". They've flipped between brandings in the past few years and I'm not sure most people know which one they are anymore at any given time. They're the top one in the CHL "Not Safe" list.

IIRC Texas/Ft. Worth was playing out of an absolutely laughable arena that held well under 3,000 max capacity (EDIT: I checked.... 2400 max capacity, oy...) because of difficulties finding another venue. They weren't going to be able to be financially-stable with those kind of gate revenues long-term. Unless a miracle comes about, I don't see them coming back out of being dormant.

As wacky as the offseasons are anymore, this one looks to be even wackier.

The stark difference between the SPHL and FHL remains astounding. Both claim "A" level hockey but the SPHL does it to crowds of 3,000-4,000/night in front of non-traditional market crowds that go nuts for them and icing players that are often legit "AA" players (ECHL Kelly Cup winning goalie Riley Gill started his season in the SPHL)... and the FHL plays in front of pathetic crowds, has teams regularly fold mid-season, and for the most part has no upwards mobility at all. The SPHL is essentially the southern version of the IHL 2.0 that was born out of the death of UHL then folded into the CHL. The FHL is basically the AAHL that the Evansville Icemen escaped from and only had one other semi-legit, semi-stable market.

Every offseason I just hope it gets closer to teams/markets being where they need to be so that someday the constant turnover and insanity will stop.

Detroit's new hockey arena will *not* be funded by public taxes. The taxes it wlill come from are corporate: primarily General Motors, Quicken Loans, DTE Energy, etc... and my personal favorite, Compuware (LOL, Hurricanes owner is funding Wings new arena).

Anyhow, good read to quell some of the criticisms that have been leveled at Detroit and the Wings over the arena. It's not taking taxes from schools, and has nothign to do with the city itself or their funds.

And he's not going to sit in prison for a single day because the prisons are overcrowded and because of that they don't put over 70-year-old people in there. Maybe he will be grounded :-D

The whole state of Michigan is in rough shape. Detroit, however, has problems beyond the obvious, and that's why while part of the state is already rebounding, Detroit is still floundering. Their biggest problem though was this guy:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kwame_Kilpatrick
(seriously, read that article. It's AMAZING and the list of bad things the man did just never ends. Seriously, if this was form a movie you'd say it was unrealistic)

Unfortunately, Kilpatrick was corrupt and evil as all get-out, to the count of conviction of 24 felony racketeering accounts. He easily, EASILY swindled and wasted millions upon millions of City money. Money the City could never get back, and that's a lot of why the City is now bankrupt basically. At a time when the economy nose-dived, it was too much for the city to endure.

It's also an object lesson in why minorities should never vote for a minority candidate simply because he's a minority, because many minority voters who voted for him had no clue what kind of man he was beyond the color of his skin.

I hate the people of Vancouver. Idiots. Why the hell can't a guy like Milan Lucic go out with friends in his hometown after a game without some moron getting in his face. That being said...Milan you have to do a better job of walking away from this Adam Oates. You should be able to go out and have a beer or two with your friends, but you know this type of idiocy is coming.

I mean the Sedins go out in Nashville and run into a bunch of Flyer fans---some blog somewhere....and the Flyer fan blogs about how cool they were and how some guys were chirping them and they diffused the situation by being calm and having a good chat with the guys. Now....mind you I highly doubt they go out in Boston if they have a night off. But....it is not their home town and they do not have a ton of buds there.

I feel for Milan....totally sucks to have that happen. He should be idolized in this city, but the idiots here are too plentiful.

I am sick and bloody tired of media blaming the athlete or the star for things that happen when they go out somewhere. Yeah, sometimes they need to be smarter....but it is constant drunken morons badgering them. Leave them the eff alone, or at the very least if you ABSOLUTELY must speak with them,...be polite.

So bloody stupid.

Lucic is pretty much done with Vancouver at this point. His grandparents were harassed by Canuck fans at a game and had popcorn thrown at them. I guess the church his family goes to was vandalized with some anti-Lucic or anti-Bruins stuff. I also remember his home being burglarized and having some hockey memorabilia stolen. I really don't get why the people of Vancouver hate him so much. He hasn't done anything controversial to a Canuck (except win the Cup).

Thing is....99.9% of Vancouver loves Milan. Just a few morons acting like clowns. Milan is upset and rightfully so, and said some stuff today that he will wish he did not say. This city LOVES HIM for his years with the Giants, and Team CAnada Jr. I refuse to believe that the city hates him. A few are jealous a few are stupid....

But the vast majority love him for what he is ...a very succesful, hard working, great guy. How could they not?

On the other side is that Milan should not forget he would not be a Boston Bruin were it not for the people of this city who supported him, developed him (Coaches, other players, friends, teammates, and even fans) into the superstar that he is today.

It makes me sick to think that the city as a whole has turned on him. It has not. Brad Marchand...yeah the city hates him.

But darn Marchand was funny the other night. Loved his act....good old fashioned WWE style heel that only helps get the game more publicity. I almost wish the little bugger had scored...that would have been fun to see.

The media are not helping too. On RDS here they only mentionned that Lucic got an alteration with someone and that he yelled something like "Do you know who you're dealing with mother....??" and things like this. It was written like Lucic was the only faulty one in that. I agree is way of answering wasn't the best though, that was stupid. But I'm pretty sure a good bunch of Habs fans started to freak out after reading that, luckily the mods on RDS blocked comments on the post.

And Bruins, wow, this is really disgusting. Harrassing his grandparents is McDavid-ing stupid as well, poor them. IIRC correctly though when they won the Cup in Vcr he got a nice ovation from the crowd.

It is not clear from the video who yelled that line. The only thing that is clear is that some bystander yelled out "MIlan Lucic is in good form right now"...which should be taken in the light that Milan was trying to get away from things....but is not being taken that way.

He was harrassed and attacked by a jack ass, and is taking heat for it. No way that should be happening. Things have gone too far with stupidity in this world, and parents (myself included) need to be doing a better job of raising their kids to be normal, moral and smart young adults.....In my day as a young adult I would never have thought of harrassing or chirping a player from another team for a variety of reasons, but mostly because I had the ULTIMATE respect and love for them.

Today...the players act a little entitled in sport (much less so in hockey at least in the public eye) and I Know Milan comes from a home where values and proper morality was instilled. No way does he get involved in this UNLESS the guy went WAY WAY over the line.

That being said...probably should have just walked away. Since this took place outside the club, I think he was probably trying to and that MORON followed him. Milan should have just kept walking. Maybe he was protecting a friend, maybe he was just fed up because of all the stuff that has happened to him and his family since the 2011 cup. God people are idiots.

TRUTHFULLY, the lesson here that I wish more of these guys would take from this is DON'T GO OUT CLUBBING/DRINKING. If you go somewhere alcohol is present, bad things are going to happen.

This reminds me of the story I read this weekend about the 2 fans dying at the same Bills football game in separate incidents. You know what the common thread was with both? They both were pregaming waaaaaaaay too early, and waaaaaaaaaay too drunk. The one guys was so drunk he got kicked out of the game for going into the women's restroom. That's not a man capable of making good decisions, or any decision at all. You go someplace even sober where *others* are drunk, and you're taking a risk anymore. Not add in celebrity to that and... you're asking for trouble.

Lucic went to a bar owned by one of his closest friends. Sorry...but just because these guys have a job that the entire world should love to have....does not mean they should not be able to do things with their friends. They are young men and should be able to go out and have a little fun just like every other young man does. They really do not have to be shut ins. It is the Don Cherry that should be shut in like this Bettman that attacked Milan.

I mean come on....if you had a high profile job how the hell would you feel if you had to stay in and did not get to have any darn fun with the $ you were making. Jealousy out there from idiots is not bloody fair.

Granted....Milan could have just walked away....but it appears he tried that (inside the bar) and then was jumped again. I hope he gets over his anger (Milan)....nails the ass to the wall with charges....and goes back to being able to hang out in his own darn home town. Freaking stupid.

Sorry the more I think about this the more I think it is unfair. Should Ryan Kesler have to stay home and not go out in Detroit when he goes there with a friend...or David Booth....or should Cory Schneider not be able to go for a pint with his buds in Boston and be left alone, or at least not harrassed?

Even Gretz got to go out in enemy territory and in his hometown (basically Toronto) and have a beer or two with friends. Ridiculous to pin any of this on Milan Lucic or any athlete or high profile person. It is the idiots and their jealousy and McDavid-ing entitlements that need to be McDavid-ing kicked in the throat.
