Best ever deals

What are the best trade, pay or young acquisitions ever you have made to your EHM squads? On the other hand what are those trades you made but instantly regretted? I was trying to get hold of Crosbie for my Stars side and almost ended up getting rid of Zubov, a move I know I would have ended up regretting.

Getting a 21 year old norris winning Lidstrom regen for 2 over the hill defensemen (Hannah and Fischer), ranks as my all time favorite trade. He was just too awsome and counterstone of my caps dynasty :D.

Tomas Vanek's rights (RFA) for Brad Richards...

hey wait, I lost Richards on that, and on top of that, Vanek ended up wanting more than Richards. In otherwords, I was in serious trouble with the salary cap and had to resort to desperate trade and dump my most expensive player out. I thought Vanek would be the cheapest of the 100+ point guys that were there as RFA's since I couldn't trade for a 1st line LW otherwise.

On retrospective, I should've went for a right wing instead considering after I lost Richards I moved Crosby back to center anyway.

Talk about a stupid one...

I picked up Ladislav Nagy from the Coyotes for some rights to an irrelevant player whose highest stat was a 12 and a fifth round draft pick. He scored 39 points in his first 28 games for me. Pick him up. Of course, this was later on in the season, after it was clear that the Coyotes were well out of the playoffs....I had tried to pick him up earlier to no avail....I guess it's a lesson to keep your eyes on the standings and go vulture-style on the teams that are struggling late.

How can you tell who he is a regen of? Is there an actual way to do this or do you just assume.

I think my best was definitely getting Semin's rights (RFA) from the caps for a 5th.

There is no 100 percent way, but his age and winning the norris at age 20, sure does indicate he is the regen. Also same nationality combined with the personality traits, loyalty etc that regen have makes it 99.9 percent certain it was Lidstrom :P.

There were ways of being able to find regens in EHM 2004 because they'd have the same nationality, height and weight (I think that was it). I'm guessing it might be the same for EHM 2005 :dunno:

My best ever deal would have to be the one I pulled off in the Carolina Challenge:

From Carolina:

Rod Brind'Amour ($5 million/yr)
1st round pick in 2006

From Rangers:

Jaromir Jagr ($4.2 million/yr)

I traded the rights to Carey Price and Kyle Chipchura, along with a 4th round pick to the Rangers for Jagr. I've only played five games and he has sixteen points for me already. :joy:

In my Thrashers game,i've exchanged Scott Mellanby (39 years old, finishes UFA,playing on my 4th line for 925K$,and doesn't fit into my plans),a defensman prospect that doesn't fit into my plans (evaluated as a future depth player, and i got good scouts and really agree with them for this player) and the Dallas Stars 3rd round pick (acquired in a precedent trade) against the Boston Bruins 1st round!!! :joy:

I'm pretty proud of this one :-D

I'm pretty proud of Patrick Marleau and Marc-Edourad Vlasic (Actually his fake name placeholder whose name I cant actually remeber) for Jagr about a week before the season started. I only gave them an offer because they had denied speculation linking him with a move away from the team (I have an itchy trigger when the slightest possibilty of a superstar being on the market comes up). They decided to negotiate my offer of Marleau and 2nd rounder. Jagr was pretty good for about 25 games (he got 19 goals in that time I think) but then he kinda slowed a bit and ended the year with about 85 points. I just liked the idea of Thornton setting up Jagr.
When the deal went through, the Rangers cancelled a deal with Atlanta. All they offered was 2 3rd round picks and a few 5th and 6th round picks. I kinda felt ripped off, but its still the best deal I have ever made.

in my most recent game in season 05/06 I sent babchuk and a 4th to the preds for ryan suter, My board celebrated a 'steal' and I was quite pleased as I had never been able to get Suter in any other games. I was able to trade Babchuk because he had just won AHL player of the week, so I guess his 'trade value' was quite high at the time or something.

Another one of my favourites on a previous game was getting Malkin and a 1st for Simon Gagne in the year 2008. Malkin went on to become the greatest player ever.

Jagr is a great player when you first get him, but for me his stats lower drasticly over the season, also usually ends up getting hurt for a few months too.. same with Ryan Smyth.. *the getting hurt part*

Got malkin's rights for a 1st round pick. This is just before the start of 08/09 season

I currently now have Forward lines of
LW - Nagy, gagne, Morrow, Corbet
c - Drury, Malkin, Little, peters
RW- Selanne, Perry, Ryan, Lupul

DL - witt,ward, saunders
DR - trembley. boynton, sutton

I traded away scott niedermeyer to get enough space in the cap for malkin got a 2nd round pick for him but really it was a salary dump even though he is a great player I am very focused on attack. He was on 3.7 mill with it being last year of his contract so im fien with it.

G - Aubin and some other guy I cant remember name

I am £19 mill which gives me £2 mill to spare and all key young players signed up on new Contracts. So some space and I will likely try and see if I can get a real talented goalie when one is available in future UFA's and let one older guy go as the prospects come in.

I also have a centre called Moran who is very good signed him up but sent him to Portland to get ice time though is def one for the future. Malkin is the finishing touch to what is an attack I have high hopes for in the future.

I just made his trade in my Carolina Hurricanes game:

Glen Wesley and Hagemo to Boston for their 1st and 3rd round pick + Hannu Toivonen, who is now my starting goalie since Martin Gerber is playing horrible.

In the same game: Frantisek Kaberle + 3rd for Kyle McLaren
