The problem with this is it then makes the user required to have facepacks.
And not everyone likes mugshots (I can't stand them)

Like I tried to say before where players playable positions is showed in numbers (it's boring). It's a lot better to use a picture of all positions like Football Manager does (green=natural position, red=unplayable etc.).

Like I said, the more pictues the better. :-)
But the issue with that is once you play the game long enough, every player is fictional so the pictures then are irrelevant and a place holder one must be put in. I'd rather see their number and name above to make it look like their hockey jersey for that reason than their pictures. I also don't like seeing a players picture with the wrong jersey on :dunno:

Yeah depends on the player haha Some of them just can't take a good picture. :-D

I actually never thought about that but you're right.

Yeah if you play looong enough. 20 seasons and you're out of mugshots (I'm sure only a minority plays 15+ seasons with a team). But why not an option for the user, so you can custom the game for your liking? :-)

I totally support options!.....as long as it wasn't the only choice (like in FHM currently, where the only choice when watching the game play-by-play forces you to view mugshots/empty squares)

jhcjobpb wrote:if you play looong enough. 20 seasons and you're out of mugshots (I'm sure only a minority plays 15+ seasons with a team).
If you played using a Major Junior team I think you'd see few mugshots after only 2-3 years of play

I find it more fun after 20 seasons. If I get bored of a particular team and just resign and move on over to another one that's been struggling for a long period of time and rebuild them. I can go on doing that forever

May I ask which leagues you have in mind to make them managable?

I'm approaching the 20th anniversary of my league. Only around 30 real NHLers are left, a prestigious group. I like FaceGen for the rest and hope it becomes the norm for any and all management sims.

The jersey + number method isn't a bad alternative though.

facegen was cool at first in ootp but it looks very outdated these days. Still better than nothing though.

You wasted time on graphical art, that's time you could have been using on AI programing. Judging from those 2 pics, I smell a tycoon type of game. Hope that's not the case, but learn from FHM massive mistakes, if you waste time on sideshows and ignore AI you will end up with rubbish; such is the case in FHM.

We build it similar way like EHM Freeware, North America first and when its fully working we start to add more leagues, We will try to add as many leagues as possible from Europe, Every Major league for sure! after that we add tournaments in (International) one by one so we can test everything is working instead we add everything in one bucket and try to find a needle (bug) from a haystack...

Is not wasted time, Artist works on art and Coders do code, and it will not be a "Tycoon" game, reason we like the art to have in background because just "Txt only" games makes things very boring, atleast you have something to look and when thinking at your next move, It will be EHM style game at heart, not a comic fun game or anything but true Manager game, Background graphics is just to make it more easy on the mind (atleast we like to see something other than only txt all over the place)

The game sounds ace already. I love that the game screens won't incorporate random things like 'click on the phone to make a call' that would just be - not good! Taking from Ultimate Soccer and EHM is just ace. Can't wait to see/hear more about it!
As much as we would like that but unfortunately Mr.Remes is working for Sigames and he is busy on his own, he have nothing to do with us other than being a Finn :P the company name comes from Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) you can see it in our logo if you look more carefully at it, there is Revolution Games out there already so we don't want to step on their toes, our name come from a Finnish word of "Revon Tulet" which is in English = Northern Lights Aka Aurora Borealis here is some links of the effect, please take a look at the amazing natural feats :)

I can see the detail in the logo yes. But thanks for the photos it is truly and amazing sight!

I like your explanation of how to work on the game. One league at a time, one by one.... Just don't forget to add the Asian League

Here's a quicky sample I made of what I mean with editing the lines. Of course there could be stats/attrivbutes and stuff near those somewhere too. Clicking a guy you choose who to replace. Would be simple and easy on the eye. :-)

What? Rob Blake over Nicklas Lidstrom?

This is kinda harsh don't you think? FHM is a brand new game that is still in development. Yes they released it too soon but if you have ever tried the OOTP baseball games, you would know that these devs know what they are doing. FHM will be a fantastic game with an unbelievable amount of customization.

Looking forward to another hockey sim. Competition is always a good thing (at least for the customer) and as others have said, there will be room for multiple sims on my pc.

I think it's a good start to adding some background graphics to this type of game and I welcome that sort of look for WHM.

I found it quite exciting too that they chose to announce the game on TBL first!

I'm glad they're not going the comic and arcady way.

Can we expect any customization? Would be awesome to see a dispersal and expansion draft.

There will be all the editors available in the main menu separately (so you can create any database you wish)
