So Edler is getting a hearing for his "headshot" on Hertl. Seriously, that's infuriating. WTH Shanny ?! Can we have Colon back plz ?

People instead of worrying about hockey fights should worry about that first and the NHL too. Hertl has been lucky to be able to avoid that.
Edit: 3 games for Edler. Could be more just for the intention.

I have really never thought Edler was a "dirty" player. But then I remembered his hit on E.Staal last World championships...

Re: Official 13-14 NHL Regular Season Thread
I don't think Edler is a dirty player but I do think he is subject to brain farts from time to time. I've watched the hit on Hertl about 20 times and I can live with the suspension only if the league will be consistent and suspend all likewise hits.... but of course they won't so I think it's a bogus suspension. Head wasn't targeted, no injury, Hertl certainly put himself in a very vulnerable position and on ice officials called no penalty at all. What did Nash get for his elbow last year in the playoffs? Did Fraser get a hearing for his hit from behind on Franson last night? Where's the consistency? Chara?, Keith? etc. etc.?

Don't think he's that dirty a player but he has his moments, like many guys. Suspension is ridiculous. Again no consistency whatsoever, mindboggling decision.jhcjobpb wrote:I have really never thought Edler was a "dirty" player. But then I remembered his hit on E.Staal last World championships...

IIRC Edler is considered a "repeat offender" by the league under their guidelines. Bear that in mind.
FWIW don't compare what they do this year to last season. That *will* always infuriate you, because the league doesn't "carry over" memories like the rest of us seem to.

There are pretty good rookies this year I'd say. I think Calder trophy will go to one of these; Monahan, Barkov, Hertl, MacKinnon, S.Jones, Trouba.

One of the best/dorkiest takedowns I've read this week was about that:MWE wrote:I've got Lundqvist in my fantasy teamphilou21 wrote:Man the Rangers are not looking good right now!

Jonathan Quick got company for the "Fail of the year". The game was late here and I was tired as hell I never laughed so much at that sort of situation.

That was hilarious.
Well it wasn't Robertos fault though. Nice when he started "dancing" when realizing the puck is somewhere between his legs.

I don't think this will be a surprise but Pronger officialy announced that his NHL career his over. What's fun for the Flyers is that they still need to pay him 4.5 millions for four years.

Re: Official 13-14 NHL Regular Season Thread
1. Edler--his mobility in spite of what the CAnucks tell you is a problem. He cannot move left or right that quickly. This is not the case on the hit on Hertl, nor was it in the World Championships (well maybe a bit), but it has caused many of his attempted hits to go array. He does not have a mean killer bone in his body. The coaches have to ramp him up even to get him to make 1 hit per game. Constantly teammates and coaches are on him to play physical.
2. Quick still wins..he caused that goal. Unless Hamhuis and Garrison are goalies.
3. Pronger--has not even been able to EXERCISE since his injury....brutal.
4.Calder trophy---Heh, jhc...I think you listed EVERY rookie LOL.
5. Rangers are having an ever harder time adjusting to AV than Vancouver to Torts. I am actually a bit surprised by that.
6. TWice Tortorella has split the Sedin's up...and on both occasions...one of the new line combos scored on their first shift after the split. Ridiculous.
7. Morgan Reilly--LOVE THIS GUY. Course I have always thought he would be a stud. darn Loafs.
8. Shea Theodore--Mark my words, this kid will one day be an NHL All Star.
9. Calgary and Colorado---LOL...When will reality kick in you ask? For Calgary...almost immediately. For Colorado..in the next 2 weeks.
10 Edmonton--Be patient new coach. Mr Eakins--you just need to relax. The boys have some growing up to do for sure, but it will come. Really...all you need is a big strong winger who can play and defend the team, a big tough dman who moves the puck okay, and a goalie. Oh wait...YOU REALLY NEED A GOALIE. CALL BRYZGALOV...he might stop one or two out of five, but that is better than the sieves you have now.
11 Chicago--Blocking shots like they are going out of style. Love those guys.
12. Philadelphia--BRUTAL BRUTAL BRUTAL. Not one dman who can skate, one right hand pylon, no offense (Vinny and Hartnell out..Giroux playing horrible), owner just got married AGAIN..to some 40 year old chick.....GOOD JOB Mr SNyder.
13 Sabres--Um....wow...you are almost as bad as Philadelphia.
14. San Jose---Um...wow....you guys are almost as good as the 1976-77 Habs. Oh wait...right it is early...You looked this good last season to in the first week, and the season before and the season before and the season before.
15. BRett Burns--Needs a guest appearance on DUCK DYNASTY...NOW

This was probably the goal on Luongophilou21 wrote:Man Bernier just did a nice one too yesterday!batdad wrote:2. Quick still wins..he caused that goal. Unless Hamhuis and Garrison are goalies. There's alot of weird goals in the beginning of the season. Can't remember which team it was earlier this week where the puck made a weird rebound on the board and bounced right on the stick of the other team and scored an empty net.

Buffalo....absolutely terrible team right now. At best a decent AHL team. And what do they do....they have a dance competition.
Penishead called it AMATEUR HOUR on the radio and called out the coaching, the players, the management and the owner. Basically stated the coaches on this team are not NHL caliber coaches. Ron Rolston if he ever had the room has lost it now.

Re: Official 13-14 NHL Regular Season Thread
Yeah the team looks pretty bad right now. They've traded too much of their core IMO. There's only Miller and Vanek left. Hodgson is too young and Myers well....he doesn't look like the guy who won the calder at all. Grigorenko is far from being ready but at least they have a decent prospect. Except from him I don't really know if their prospects pool is any good. Luke Adam seems decent but third liner at best.
