CJ,

Thinking about starting a new game.

Are you working on a v6.2 right now or is v6.1 pretty much it for awhile?

If you are releasing another update in a week or two, I'd probably just wait for that.

Thanks.

I was thinking I would love to try this database out and see what it is like. However...when I go to the download page it appears it wants me to download a bunch of garbage along with it (something about how to use cameras, and some new downloader tool) Absolutely not interested in that, so until this is in a safer download position (not saying not safe, just saying not safe enough for my personal liking) I guess I iwll not.

I also noticed player weights are all over the board.

I had been running the MET Attribute Editor on the 5.5 DB to even out all the player weights. 209 for D and 200 for forwards.

Is that not necessary?

When there's more things to update I'll release a newer version. And no, I'm not probably releasing a new version in the near future, right now I'm working on the 98/99 database.

What are you talking about? Archi has them on the skydrive, and the link is taking you there?
This is the link to the newest version ---> https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=a0fa740e ... 29C5C5!594
There are no cameres or anything else there! :-D

I haven't really looked on players weights. Are there specific players? Are the players correct in the beginning of the game, but the future prospects has them wrong or...?

I'm just going off what I read in the Realism Patch thread:

http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 110&t=8909

I guess some think player weight is/was an issue with the game. Something about if all players are the same weight, you can trust the hitting and physical ratings more.

Since you've said you've already run that patch on this DB for the scoring aspect, I figured it would also adjust the player weights. (That Patch does both.) But I didn't see that. So I'm also kind of wondering if the Patch was run on this DB. the patch does create another file that you have to rename and save over the original. I didn't want to run it again and mess up the scoring, just to "fix" the player weight.

This is the exact text regarding the weight "issue":

Also a second version of the patch was created to adjust for the huge advantage the game gives to heavier players. Some players get more hits, (a lot) more points and higher average ratings simply because they are extremely heavy - see the top post here for explanation http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 9&start=88.

As well as including the scoring realism improvements, this patch also equalises every forward's and every defenseman's weight which erases this problem. This is the recommend patch version for highest realism; you can download it from

I don't know if you still have the original without the Scoring Realism Patch run on it, but I'm wondering if you may want to post that version instead. So those that don't mind the high scoring can have that, while those of us who want the realism patch can run it ourselves and include the extra options (weight "fix") that we want.

Just a suggestion.

Do appreciate greatly the work you've done on this. Already noticed quite a few good ratings changes that I also made on v5.5. The 2006-07 season, is my favorite DB and I'm not sold on the FHM game yet. I like to play retro seasons. Not having minor leagues for those old seasons in the game yet, is a turn off.

So those files are a part of a database and should be added to another DB or? :nerd:

Not sure what you're asking. The patch creates a new player.dat file called new_player.dat. Then you rename it and save it right over the player.dat file.

The instructions and how to use it are here:

http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... =88&t=9088

This is the main part of the patch instructions:
4) The EXE creates a new file called new_player.dat in the same location as your EXE and CSV files, which contains the modified data. Put new_player.dat back into your chosen database folder and RENAME it to player.dat.

If you didn't do that part, I'm thinking the DB doesn't really have the patch on it. Don't have the folder in front of me, but I'm thinking that new_player.dat file is probably sitting in there.

Maybe Archibalduk will see this and chime in.

I would probably still suggest posting the DB as is, without any patch run on it. I think that's how all the others are released anyway.

fyi CJ i noticed this too, i also had to run the weights adjustment thing on v6.1 right from the start, i don't know if you meant to copy the results of the realism patch but the weights in v6.1 weren't equal. everything else works really well though, thanks for all your hard work.

Bobmcgoo,

Just posted a note to you in the other thread. So you can verify it seems the scoring correction part of the realism patch seems to be on this DB, just not the player weight portion?

yep from what i see in the pre-game editor CJ has used the patch to change the scoring and the penalty levels, but whether he meant to or not, the weights are not all equalled.

So I have decided to start a game with this DB. Using the Canucks because they are the team most familiar to me since all we ever hear about around here is them. Ugh.

Anyway--I checked because was curious about the drafting in this game, and it does appear that most players not drafted in 2006-07 are in good shape and not listed with any team. What I did notice when checking the lists though was something very interesting....I went to look up Sam Reinhart....and found

Max Reinhart---age 14--Hollyburn Huskies, undrafted into NHL or WHL and not attached to any junior or NHL team
Griffin Reinhart--age 12 Hollyburn Huskies (hollyburn is their amateur hockey club) not drafted into NHL and not attached to any junior or NHL team....
Sam Reinhart--age 11 KOOTENAY ICE. CHL rights Kootenay ICe....

Also no Hunter Shinkaruk, but is a Bo Horvat. Cameron Gaunce is there, no Brendan Gaunce. Nicklas Jensen is there, no Frankie Corrado.

So I guess some changes need to be made there for various years. Not a completely up to date DB.

Not saying that this is a problem, just pointing these things out. I am sure there will be more of them, just have not looked all that closely. That was in 2 minutes.

Just for my own knowledge ...

What specifically are you looking at in the pre-game editor that tells you this?

I think I see what you're talking about.

Basically the ratings that are adjusted by the patch. I can see the difference by just looking at a couple of players.

Home now and checked out the folder.

See the attribute_settings.csv file.

I also made a copy and ran the MET Attribute Editor program that's included in the folder.

It's v1.0b.

I've been using v2.0.1 on other DB's. Now I can't even find where I found that.

Will this cause any issues?

I read this about the 2nd patch: "This patch merely stops the game thinking everyone is perfect in offensive situations (scouting reports would always call a player offensive), although simulation results are identical. This patch is recommended if you are starting a new game, however it is not needed if you have already started a game with the first patch."

Here it is:

https://skydrive.live.com/?cid=a0fa740e ... 29C5C5!475

I'm surprised it's not in the downloads section here.

So now I'm wondering if it would be possible to get the original file and run v2.0.1 on this?

EDIT: Took a closer look in the folder. It appears the original unedited file is in there already. See the player_without_scoring_realism.dat file.

CJ,

I hope you don't take any of my posts as criticism of the great work you did with updating this DB. Really do appreciate it. I've done some work on seasons/DB for other games, so I realize how much time and work goes into it.

I've only been playing this game for a couple of years now. Finally feel I've got everything down and I understand everything after a couple of trial leagues.

Now I want to start a "real career" and just want to make sure everything is in order before I do.

And I like starting with the 2006-07 season. A few players I like today are in their 1st year or about to break in.

Yes there are still players missing, this DB is not complete. When you find "good" prospects of anykind, please state them here, and I'll add them in the next update. You can state you own oppinion of how good "potential" they should have also. :-)

@ bobmcgoo & jhart05: I used the "[MET] Attribute Editor and EHM Scoring Realism Patch", but as far as I know weight/height weren't mentioned in that thread, but now I found it in bobmcgoo's thread, so I haven't edited those at all. I just used that one for realism. Without thouching the weight/height.

So what you guys are saying is that all players should be the same weight/height? So what do you think I should do now?

Well there are a few guys here that have much more experience with this than I do. I'd rather defer to them. But I would say probably post the DB without any patch applied, and let the user decide what he wants to change.

I did find the original file still in your folder as I posted above. It doesn't take much to switch it up. I'm using that player file, making my minor tweaks, then running Realism Patch v2.0.1 on it, before starting my new game.

So personally I'm fine with what I've got right now.

I may take back this statement. I was looking at Rich Peverley. His ratings are different on the patched version than they are on the un-patched version. So I think I may stick with the base file, then run Patch v2.0.1 on it for just the player weights.

Unless you have a version available that doesn't yet have any patch run on it.
