Ironic thread title...
That said, are there any specific seasons or rough years EHM players would be interested in? With the popularity of Ninos and the excitment over future releases of the 79 and 98 mods, I became curious what other years you'd want to play.
I personally have started and stopped work on an early 90's DB a few times now, I just don't know quite enough to work with, attribute wise.
I'm also not sure how much further we could go back before Ninos 74 DB.

I think 88-89 or 89-90 could be a great starting point for a DB, too! Think of all the amazing players that start their careers then or within a few years... Sakic, Sundin, Jagr, Nolan, Fedorov, Bure, Selanne, Tkachuk, Ricci, Brind'Amour, etc etc etc...

RE Future Retro DBs - I've thought about them! in addition to continuing work on the 1974 database I've had some interest in a number of other retro projects...1976, 1984, 1987, 1994 and 2000 have all been considered. I've got some reference materials for all five possibilities. For 1994 I have most everything I need, and have even (barely) started
In the last 2.5 months there is a lot of editing work I'd also like to do that has been on hold since I've been helping with the TBL Rosters (and I'm still working on updating the OHL/QMJHL).....my freetime is less now, and my "mental energy" is often less too. I'm not sure I'm going to tackle a big project again anytime soon; database editing is A LOT of work! I'm helping out with the TBL rosters more now, and I've been thinking of helping with 1979/1998 databases, so I'm not sure my future holds another big project
And (when I'm done my current TBL editing) I'm really wanting to actually play EHM in the near future!

Playoff performances are the be all and end all for NHL hockey. You play well in the playoffs you are a strong goalie. You get great stats in the regular season and suck in the playoffs-- you are of no use. Read Ovenchicken, the entire Ottawa Senators teams of the early 2000s, the entire Caps roster, most of the Vancouver Canucks. Have to prove you can be the best against the best.
Putting up 100 points or a great goals against average or save percentage during the regular season is fine....but you have a ton of weak teams to boost those stats. You do not get those in the playoffs. You take out the rubbish teams and I bet Cechmanek is not as good as you think in the regular season either. Just use his stats against the top 16 offensive teams in the league...bet he was not that good. Or against the top 16 standing teams in the league.
Totally inconsistent as well. And mentally....he was Bryzgalov.

Leighton was a freak of nature for one series or maybe one and a half series. He was hurt in the boston series that the flyers eventually won.

This is just picking up on something Nino33 posted...
I think the idea of a 2000 Retrodb would be cool. Start off with two expansion teams. The added advantage is that no new rosters would have to be created for NHL teams which don't exist. 30 teams in EHM and starting in 2000, 30 teams in the NHL.
Plus, having been a teen in Ottawa during those years, I want to see if I can make the really good Senators teams of the era win a cup or two!
