I've been saying for years that I have objective reasons to get mad at Boston, not just because I like Montreal. I mean, when you do stuff like this and don't get suspended it is ridiculous.

No...MOntreal fans get mad at Boston because the little smurfs get legally destroyed by the mean old Bruins.

I mean...the Big Bad Bruins were the Big Bad Bruins...they were very very good though. The Bruins of today....all they have is arrogant ownership, arrogant GM, arrogant coach and a few arrogant jerkwad players (of which Thornton is NOT one)

MOntreal---hmmmm and arrogance check

1. Ownership-The Molson family CHECK CHECK
2. GM--Sam Pollock, Serge Savard === CHECK CHECK
3. Coach-Scott Bowman, et al.....CHECK CHECK
4. Players--Doug RIsebrough, Serge Savard, the 20000 smurfs of the last few years, PK Subban, Patrick Roy, Claude Lemieux, Jacques Lemaire, Guy Lapointe, Mark Napier, PJ STock( Oh wait...smurf and Bruins apply to him as well),

Now...there have been some classy guys in Montreal--Beliveau, Richard, RIchard, RObinson, Cournuayer, Shutt....and to some extent BUT NOT UNTIL HE LEFT MONTREAL--Scotty Bowman.

But the same can be said for Boston--Ratelle, Park, CHeevers, Krecji, Johnny Bucyk, Bobby Orr, etc etc....

Bruins and Habs are EQUALLY classy and EQUALLY arrogant and jerk wads. The difference for awhile was that Montreal was a far better team, (Roy years), and now Boston is a far better team.

They are both equally annoying.

And even here we have classy fans for both teams....you are classy Hab guy, philou is not. :-D

Archi and B72 classy Bruin fans....Danny is not.

YEah Yeah I Know you will call Manimal a classy Ranger fan and me not (or Cee Bee Canuck and me not).....yet I am not a fan of either team.

If I were to choose a team I was a fan of at any point in my life....it would be the Classsiest of all classy teams....The late 1970s Philadelphia Flyers. Heh. My how I have changed.

I'm too young for that but did Savard and Lapointe were really arrogant? With all the beautiful stories that people are saying here about MTL I wonder if it was all true sometimes......they all talk about Savard and Lapointe as good players and respectable guys.

And by the ownership do you mean the are also arrogant like Boston? Because right now Jeff seems far from being arrogant. Or you were talking about the past owners?

What do you mean I'm not classy? I never said the Bruins were a bunch of cheap shotters, divers, whiners, loosers and ugly monkey face ---> Lucic and Marchant. I only think about it really loud sometimes. :-D :**

Past owners---with winning comes arrogance.

I was not saying you said anything about Boston. Just basically the opinions of people about them are changing. I was more just making fun of Montreal fans for saying ANYONE else is arrogant.

Jeff Molson is okay, previous owners meh.

Savard and Lapointe had an aura about them that made some people outside Montreal think they were jerks. Kind of like how many think Chara and Thornton are jerks (as well as that now Oiler captain Ference) when in fact they were great guys off the ice and outside of the press.

Ok thanks for the specifications. I was kidding too about me. :-D

I agree with you about the past Molson owners and it's kinda understandable seeing how good the Habs were. What I didn't liked from Gillet, even though he was a nice guy, kinda sit on the story of MTL and gave a pants club for years at fans that were desperate but they were still fulling the goddamn arena!!! He was probably laughing at that. Jeff as nothing to be arrogant about. The futur looks brighter since a long time and the Habs finally can give a show from time to time. Especially with Galchenyuk, Gallagher and Eller.

There's nothing to be arrogant about though, even if they win 1 Cup in the futur. But if they do....god I don't want to live here when it's going to happen, it will be awful. We will hear about this 24 hours a day for months and fans will bring back all that glory from the 70's like it was the present. :-D

Hopefully the message has been sent. CLarkson 2 was good as well...and another hit today that has some Dallas rookie or bum meeting with Shanny.

Engelland just got booted for a pretty bad headshot on Abdelkader. Message not sent, not in the least. These hits are increasing, not decreasing.

God I wish someone would headshot Crosby again. Maybe then the league would give a f**k. And quite frankly, the Pens could use the reminder what it's like to be on the other side again. I guarantee someone giving a headshot to Crosby would get the duration of the rest of the season, possibly more.

I wish that will not happen again to Crosby but I get your point. Unless a part of the money making of the league is not out definitely nothing will happen.

I'm not picking on Crosby with it either: I think he's the only player the league actually cares about at this point. Literally the only one. And it's maddening to me because as marketable as they think he is, non-hockey fans don't care about him at all. They think he's boring as a person, and that his game is boring too. They don't understand why the league keeps putting them in their faces.

I'm also sick and tired of seeing my team's players take headshots. Cowen clearly dinged Datsyuk a few weeks ago and Pavel missed two weeks, league did nothing about it. So of course a few games later Cowen does it AGAIN to someone else and *this* time finally gets punished for it. Maaaaaaaybe they should have punished him the FIRST time? And now tonight Abdelkader goes down, on a play where Engelland can't possibly claim no intent.

Bob MacKenzie said Engelland's hearing is already scheduled in person, so that's at least 6 games if not more.

Wings have recalled Tomas Jurco from Grand Rapids. So it looks like Abby will be out a while. Good news is his jaw is apparently NOT broken as some initially feared.

Who's that guy anyway Manimal? First time I hear his name haha I also wish they put more severe money penalties with the suspensions. Brendan Schenn got a fine of 2230,77$ for a crosscheck. 2230.77??? And why the goddamn .77 cents? That made me laugh so bad. They should had big numbers like the NFL do, 50 000$ or 100 000$. That would do it.

Re: the .77, they divide salary by 82 games, and the fine is whatever games are missed. The PA has bargained into the CBA restrictions on how guys can and can't be fined.

And the NFL fines, they do NOT deter this stuff either. You see the same guys getting fined over and over again, never changing. NFL is struggling with this same problem, however they're unwilling to suspend because of the betting implications of suspending a guy for a game or two. NFL is slave to Vegas at this point.

You could double current suspensions and guys would STILL do it anyways. Teams themselves need to be more harshly punished, possibly coaches being held responsible as well. First couple of times a guy's stupidity costs a coach a paycheck, sh*t will suddenly get real for the coaches. You think Byslma cares that Engelland won't be available for him, or that Engelland is fined? Of course he doesn't, he knows Engelland is a garbage player and won't be missed, and why would he care that his garbage player is losing some money?

Or, for a team that continues to have guys do these things, take away cap space and/or draft picks. Show them you're not effing around.

Well I wasn't talking about how good/bad the NFL is I wasn't just talking about the amounts of the fines. Coaches should be sanctionned as well.

If they double the suspensions nothing would change because 2 games would only be 4 games.... :ha!: They should impose big suspensions that goes with the 82 games. The MLB put 50 or 100 games suspensions on 160 games. The NFL I don't really follow it so can't tell but in a 82 games season the suspensions could go between 15 and 40 games depending on the hit/actions. That would be awesome.

MLB doesn't suspend 50 or 100 games for on-field actions. Those suspension are drug-related. For on-field actions, a 10-gamer is a big one, and that applies to pitchers as well (ie, 10 games to a pitcher is maybe only 2 starts, he'd be sitting on his butt in the dugout or bullpen for the other 8 anyways).

The NHL *does* need to double or triple all suspensions probably. START at 4 games maybe for a minor first offense, instead of the 1 or 2 they do now. The problem is, the NHLPA is too powerful and simply will not allow it and will appeal everything unless it's very low. Something has to change fundamentally in the PA to make them stop defending/backing guys that make these hits, and instead back/defend the recipients. Until then, the NHL's hand will be a bit tied.

BTW, I was watching that Steelers-Bengals NFL game tonight. My God. I only had it on while doing something else and.... I finally had to turn away. The dirty hits and headshots were at an alarming rate. There were like 5 guys that could have been suspended in the first half alone, a good 3 or 4 of them Steelers. That hit on that punter was about as dirty a hit I've ever seen during play, broke the guy's jaw, and even the announcers were all like "Oh man, that's a clean hit" even as they showed the replay of the Steeler launching himself from the blindside right into the punter's facemask, leading with the crown of his helmet...

Man... Detroit needs to fire their entire training staff. The injuries guys are getting are training/conditioning ones, not game ones. Gustav Nyquist is now the 432324903rd Red Wing this season to miss time with a groin injury. 8 normal players are now out to injury. 5 of the guys dressing will have spent time in Grand Rapids this year, including Tomas Jurco on the top line who days ago was amongst the AHL leading scorers.

Add that to the 3 or 4 concussions guys have seen so far this season and man.... I don't even know how DET is hanging on like they are at this point.

Just bad luck. Happens to teams on a regular basis. Each and every team goes through ridiculous numbers of injuries during some season. Just happens to be DEtroit<s turn.

It's not just luck.

A good chunk of the injuries are shoulder or groins. That's not "luck", and it began happening a couple of years ago when some changes happened within the training staff. EXAMPLE: Darren Helm's "setback" before he could play this season happened during weightlifting. The guy had back problems he was recovering from and the nimrods had him doing too much lifting while still rehabbing, and he retweaked his back.

To me, that screams that they have them lifting too much. They're tightening the guys up with all their lifting, and they're pulling and straining joint ligaments and muscles.
