I'm not a fan Ehrhoff but it struck me that he has lost in 6 months 40 points in each. And as I said, I think many reviews unrealistic. Why was not built v5.3d version to the TBL roster and at least looked at the last update on the achievements this season.
That would be easier.

Sorry for my bad englisch. I use a translator.

Read around...any thing that is not right is being reworked. And yeah I figured on English. anyway....you did not like a past version we get it. So if you can help fix newer versions great. if not, oh well no point living in the past.

Good job on the graph! Looking at it this way, I never thought there was so much "average" players in the NHL but I guess it's a reality. Just look at Sestito. :-D (Does MWE even come here?)

Yeah the graphs look great! CJ has done some fantastic work already. =D>

As for "average" players; that's the whole point of it. The average player in the league should be rated as "average" - and it should be the average rating in the league.

Yeah I know somewhere you mentionned that you wanted to lower the CA of most players from what it used to be so this way it's "closer" to reality.

batdad wrote:Thanks. So we have a reference point could you please compare these players to the lists of guys for the entire league. Where so they fit in in terms of ability compared to all. Is penner shot as good as Kunitz or Crosby? Ovechkin? How does Hampusfit in with all the other d in the league?
I'm not sure what you mean, compare the players to what list? I don't know how Kunitz is rated but I'd say Penner is about the same level when it comes to shooting the puck, about 14-16. Hampus is one of the best rookies in the league, his +/- is amazing for a young player and he's already a solid NHL-player with potential to become one of the best D's in the NHL.

He means a post like Coombs did earlier this week when he was talking about the Habs defense. In the defensemen thread about the new DB.

Fredlig wrote:Here is the CSS Midterm rankings http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=699869 Maybe make the top ten having PA of -8 or -14 and the top three possibly -9.

I suggest lowering the outfield players CA instead of the consistency to 3-10. two-three seasons into the game, players with high (170+ CA) become beasts with 20 overall in like 70% of the attributes. Limit the offensive role to like 15 to prevent many players to have outrageous offensive attributes, it is not unusual to see all the top offensive players have 20 in both shooting attributes and stickhandling. IMO the 20 attribute should only apply to the top three or five players in that regard. Like Kane and Datsyuk for stickhandling.

Ive tested it out on my own to limit the outfield players CA to 170 and limiting offensive role to 15 then pushing the Goalies CA to about 190+ for the elite and 170 for the starters (including highering the GK attributes). I do not have any material to prove this but the scoring went down a few notches. Top scorer in the league landed about 120-135 points.
Yeah increasing goalie attributes does seem to have a big impact. I noticed when I tried to reduce goalies' Pokecheck attributes to a more reasonable level, it definitely increased scoring. So I decided to leave Pokecheck as it was.

Offensive Role doesn't limit offensive attributes. It just controls the player's offensive tendency.

The difficulty I see with modifying the CA range like you suggest is that we would have to adjust the CA range for players in every league in order to avoid closing the gap between the top NHL players and the rest of the hockey world. Also I guess it would also mean you'd have to adjust PAs in the same way. A lower CA won't guarantee avoiding 20s in both shooting and stickhandling attributes. The difference between a 170 CA player and a 190 CA player is only a 1 point different (170 CA = 12.5 average Technical Attribute and a 190 CA = 13.5).

Not that I'm saying Consistency is necessarily the best solution, but it seems to at least reduce scoring to some extent without us having to make significant wide-ranging changes (other than globally reducing Consistency for forwards).

Something I'm curious about is whether Consistency is inherited by regens. I thought it was but maybe I'm wrong. :-k

I also think that 20's should be almost non-existant. 20 is like a perfect attribute and nobody is perfect. Maybe some exceptions with really talented players and even there maybe 1 or 2 20 is enough. 19 should be the top but I guess the way the game develop players there will always be 20s after most edited players will be retired and regens comes in.

Also Archi, how you guys decided to rate the consistency of most players compared to the original DB?

Yeah personally I prefer to use 19 as the maximum.

Sorry, do you mean what we did or why we did it?

Goalies and d-men used the normal full 1 - 20 range. So that's the same as the original DB. However in reality, most/all players will have a rating of at least 10 or 11 (as does the original DB).

It is just forwards that are different with the 3 - 10 range. Basically, we reduced forwards' Consistency by about 10. Whereas in the original DB the normal 1 - 20 range is used just like the goalies and d-men.

I know why you guys did it though but I was curious to know how you guys decided that for example, Crosby should be 15 instead of 18-19 in consistency. I guess you made tons of tests. :-D

I hope you took it down with percentage instead of minus 10 points on each? :-D

I'm pretty sure all attributes will be lowered compared to the previous version. Which means 19/20's are very rare. But as players have higher PA, they might develope that 17/18 attributes to 20 later in the game.

While messing around to start my new game with the Avs I've noticed André Tourigny is still head-coach/GM of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies when is he now an ass.coach with the Avs.

A guy named Gilles Bouchard is now the head-coach.

Edit: I can also add for setting Tourigny that is his the defensemen coach with the Avs and he coached Rouyn for almost 10 years so I guess he is used to coach young guys.

He was one of the most experienced coach in the Q and he also has the reputation that follow it. I don't know about his defensive skills though but it should be where he's the best at if Roy trusted him with that task, even if it's only a 13-14. I'm guessing when you stay a junior coach that long you should be used to work with kids, especially when you got selected for the World Junior four times. ;)

Probably....one would think, yet guys like AV, Hitch, and others who coached Jrs are not exactly known for being good to the young guys in the show.

Not arguing...you are likely right as the Avs are doing well with him (especially the young defense who really have played well above their heads)....just being antagonistic because I have not bugged you much lately.

Deciding to reduce to a 3-10 range was following a hell of a lot of experimenting and simming. I tried various things based on bobmcgoo's Realism Patch to see if something similar could be achieved without affecting as many types of attribute.

As for Consistency generally, it's just a case of reducing/increasing them if players are playing too well too regularly or not often enough, etc.

I simplified the explanation because it was quicker to explain like that. In reality, I sorted all of the Consistency ratings for all forwards and grouped them into 8 groups. Then each of these 8 groups were used to assign one of the 8 ratings ranging from 3-10. I used additional criteria to help group them too. I can't remember what exactly, but I can check if you want to know.

The player transactions set in the extra_config.cfg file on the latest TBL update doesn't work for me. Usually this happens when there is a " (whatever they are called in english) missing somewhere, but I can't find any errors when I browse the file. Strange thing is some pre-set moves happens, but most does not. It seems like none of the NCAA related moves works.

Anyone else noticed this? Any ideas?

I came across this while playing. Alexander Burmistrov left the KHL to go back with Winnipeg but his salary of 56 000$ never changed. So he's in the NHL at 56 000 per year. Is this a database problem or just an EHM bug?
