I'm looking at creating a database, leaving 15(ish) NHL teams and bringing in 15 or so from Europe to create an "International" League. However, I'm curious as to if I make the NHL Teams "defunct" will all the players/staff/rights be set to Free Agency or will they remain linked to that team until the end of the contracts or their rights are up. So, I was wondering if there was a way to remove all the contracts and right for those teams, without having to do them one by one, or doing the whole DB.
Thanks,
Kyle

Yes, you could use the EHM Updater. It can create a list of players contracted to the 15 teams. You can the use this list to make them UFAs and remove their rights.
If you want some help then let me know in this thread and I'll gladly help give you step-by-step instructions. It's pretty straightforward.

If you have players signed to 'defunct' teams then I think they will become free agents at start up. Or they might be retired.
However, it is rather easy to set them free with the EHM Updater so it would be best to use that
