If you fire head guy, not sure if you can replace him with an assistant and then add another assistant to replace him, and still fire an assistant. Do not think that is allowed, and certainly to me would not be the intent.

Yeah that was more how I was reading it that head coach had to come from assistants.

Just traded away Reijasalo for a German C/LW Ulrich Zientek, Noble didn't start the season good in the 4th line so sent him down to the AHL and made this trade to fill his roster slot. Zientek will start as the 3rd line RW next to Khomutov and Fahas.

2026 Leafs sweep Canucks to win back to back championships. Wow. What?

I just realized I completely screwed up and traded Riekkinen for a 2nd round pick. God I knew I was not allowed to do that.

So can you please erase my last quarter stats? I have to go back to my save at 60 games and start all over. So sorry.

Cannot believe I was that dumb. I knew that over and over and over.

ACtually forget it, I would have to go back to Feb 1 and see. It would me my second half numbers to erase. I will take a penalty for it or kick my butt out.

I've got Noble centering Khomutov and Skoda and they're doing pretty well so far as my 3rd line. 11 games in and Skoda and Noble each have 9 points. Khomutov only has 5 but he's there more to make room for the other guys. I've got Skudra centering Liebsch and Fahas for my 4th line. They're more of a grinding line than anything else. Skudra and Fahas are doing well but Liebsch isn't play LW so well.

Oh and despite the team playing much better to start the season, I think I may have used up all of the board's patience last season. After 11 games, I got fired. My record was 5-3-3 to start season 2. We had 48 GF and 37 GA in those games and both our PP and PK were doing well. Most of our losses (including O/SLs obviously) were by just a goal. Oh well! I just added myself back in. It stinks that all of my scouting reports are GONE. Also gone are my lines, tactics, and training. What a pain! I've got to take the time to set all of that back up again.

I am going to trade the 2nd round pick back to Pittsburgh for some scrub. I will post a screenshot of it. The scrub will then be released, so it will basically be me losing Riekkinen on waivers. I have to wait til trading is allowed again, as it is only June 1. Not at the draft yet.

Hah. Yeah it is. So what I am going to do (it may get me fired) is send the 2026 2nd rounder back to the Pens, for the 2026 6th round pick of the Pens. Because they are so FAR away from the salary cap they will not do it for a player even an expiring contract. If they do, the player will be Benn Ferrero who is 40 and basically dying. Then release Benn.

They rejected the Ferreiro deal. so doing the other one

We're nowhere near when I want to be after 20 games. 11-9-0, a lost penalties for us, and more goals on PP allowed then scored. It happens, I know.

After a lot of rotation in my line up, here are my lines:

Karlsson - Schenn - Aberg
Jacobson - Owens - Dicks
Škoda - Khomutov - Vandersteen
Brouwer - Skudra - Polyanski
Noble, Zakharov

Severson - Riekkinen
Carrier - Barthet
Bykov - Gormley
Beausoleil

Bernier
Haas

And yes, Riekkinen resign. Now I think what to do with trade(s). Probably keeping until deadline.

Ah even better than being dumb and trading Riekkinen for a 2nd, and then doing that wonderful 2nd for 6th round trade....

I am not going to be able to re-sign Jonathon Bernier. He is giving me "you cannot afford what I want". I am not going over $5 mill for that guy. He had an .888 save percentage and 7.92 avg rating last season.

So....it is the young kids Haas and Woodcroft most likely, as I will target a Dman in the UFA season. I may have to make a deal for an older goalie, pick for an old man, but I will NOT do the player for player deal for a goalie. I have something in mind already for that....but that is a few weeks, perhaps months away.

My lines 10 games into season 2 is:

Jacobsen - Vandersteen - Åberg
Jaskin - Owens - Skoda
Zientek - Khomutov - Fahas
Shalla - Skudra - Zakharov (Zakharov gets #1 PP minutes)
Calvert (probably won't play a single game, there just in case of disasters)

Carrier - Berthet
Severson - Riekkinen
Beusoleil - Gormley
Liebsch

Bernier - Haas

Groleau is lighting it up in the AHL and Anthony Seguin is doing the same in juniors.

2026 NHL Entry draft.

1st-16th overall-Eric Crowther-RD-6'1 183 Camrose AJHL, moving to Yale Uni
2nd-Trent Clouston-LW/RW 6'4 191 Portland Winterhawks WHL
3rd-Andre Curtis RD 6'4 196 London Knights OHL
4th-Geric Dube C/RW 6'3 176 Lake Superior State
5th-Semyon Petrov RD 6'2 220 Sibir-MHL
6th Paavo-Matias Helenius LW/C/RW- 6'4 194 Karpat-SM Liga
7th-Agastino Stephenson C/RW 6'3 174 Regina Pats WHL

Prpbably for the first time ever, all the players I drafted are in their first year of eligibility. Two late 07 birthdays Clouston and Dube, but Nov and Dec....so both are first year in draft.

Project is 6th round pick. Helenius has some nice attributes, but he is still rated a limited or 4th line by my scouts. I Think they are wrong and am bringing him over immediately to work with him. Same for Semyon Petrov. Normally I leave them in Europe for a year, but want these kids now.

rocker87 wrote:I have a question about founding players for trade. How you do that? I alway go to player search and with mark on "ask assistant to filter unrealistic targets" and then go on list and try to find players to trade. Something better maybe?
What I actually do is the following:

- Have three of my worst scouts scout all 30 NHL teams
- Shortlist the guys I'm interested in future trades/UFA in the offseason
- Scout them again with my best scouts
- Try and trade for them

If teams are interested in my players, I scout their NHL and AHL affiliate (sometimes ECHL)

I also have two scouting the NHL and one scout in the AHL. That's how I found Pare. :-)

Season over. Great news: I made the playoffs (with 2 games remaining) with a 42-29-11 record. We finished 7th and will face Herman Dicks and the Flyers! He had a decent half season with them, with 7 goals and 12 assists in 33 games, 6.67 rating.

We lost 3 of 4 games with them this season. Not sure if I can win this series but I'll try my best!

Jake Virtanen won the Rocket, with 64 goals in all 82 games.

Got swept. Dicks had 3 assists in 3 games.

Fans are also protesting. Thanks fans. I only got you to the playoffs for the first time in 5 seasons and our highest win output since the '19-20 season.

Ahhh.. July 14th and the Boston Bruins have remade their defense core.

Signed as UFA Jonas Kaikkonen-Finnish 28 year old 6'1 218lbs. Played the last 4 seasons with the Blackhawks and did quite well. Mid to high 7 ratings, and 42 points one season.

Here is the one VERY HAPPY ABOUT.

On July 14th confirmed and finished and completed the trade of the year with the New York Rangers. Got bigger, faster and stronger on the right side of the Blue Line.

Boston trades defenseman Berthet to New York in exchange for former WInnipeg Jet and 29 year old 6'4 stud RD Matthew SPencer. Although not being given credit for what he is Spencer is big fast mean and evil with a bomb of a shot. At 29 he is hitting his prime and reminds me ALOT of Chris Pronger. We shall see.

Anyway, very pleased with these two moves and will still have a player for pick or pick for player to add depth to the squad if need be.

Haas and Woodcroft better get the job done....they will have until November to prove to me they can.

So here is what the Bruins shape up like to head into training camp

Bennett-Reinhart-Owens
Jacobson-Vandersteen-Aberg
Khomutov-Schenn-Skoda
Groleau-Skudra-Fahas
Noble and one more youngster who impresses at camp

Severson-Spencer
Keikkonen-Riekkinen
Carrier-Liebsch
Rouleau (Chauvel)

SO happy to get rid of that overrated midget on the blueline.

Now only have Riekkinen left as a little man.

2026 NHL Draft:

Rd 1 (18th overall) - RD Eric Crowther (OCN) - 6'1", 183 lbs - Good combination of speed and skill for a player his age. Could develop into a solid defenseman with the right development. He had 13-51-64 in 57 games, and a 7.82 rating, in addition to 170 hits and 103 shots blocked. He's going to Harvard in the fall.

Rd 2 (48th) - C/RW/LW Stefan Lindskoug (Kitchener) - 6'2", 205 lbs - Scouts consider him a defensive power forward with 2nd line potential. He has decent speed, and high stamina, determination, and teamwork. He also has solid checking and hitting skills. He's poor on faceoffs so he's going to be a winger in the professional levels. The Orebro, Sweden native had 14-22-36 in 63 games with a 7.84 rating. He also had a whooping 315 hits.

Rd 3 (78th) - RD Andre Curtis (London) - 6'4", 196 lbs - A bruising, physical defensive defenseman. Solid defensive stats across the board. He had 6-3-9, 7.03 in 63 games.

Rd 4 (108th) - C/LW/RW Dan Hatcher (Providence) - 6', 191 lbs - Another solid two-way forward. Not a quick guy but great strength and stamina and defensive instincts. He had 26 goals, 29 assists in 50 games, and a 8.44 rating. Won a whooping 79% of faceoffs as a freshman.

Rd 5 (138th) - LD Djamel Bounoure (Saint John) - 6'2", 174 lbs - Another defensive defenseman, but he's a lefty. He's not as good as our earlier defensemen picks, but he could be decent with the right development. 2 goals, 4 assists, 6.80 rating in 40 games.

Rd 6 (168th) - G Soren Bjork (Unattached) - 6'2", 187 lbs - A developmental goalie, like Jimmie Astrom from last season. He was drafted in the CHL Import Draft but his rights were released so he's headed to South Carolina for the season like Astrom a year ago. He has horrible Reflexes though but worth a shot with a 6th Round Pick and Lidstrom found him. With Reijasalo likely leaving and Woodcroft being the full time backup, we need another goalie in the system.

Rd 7 (198th) - C/LW/RW Peter Funk (Northeastern) - 6'4", 187 lbs - He doesn't excel in anything but worth a shot in the 7th Round. He could develop into something.

Unfortunate that Phoenix took two guys I wanted to draft in the 1st and 4th Rounds, but overall very pleased with our picks. I went for more defensive picks. If we can't score, at least we should try and prevent them.

The only player signed in this class come July will be Bjork.

I'm not very happy with Dicks, looks like it's too early for him. I'll give him a bit time. Vandersteen is not good as last year. Trying to tweak tactics, but even Jacobson is not playing like last year.

But, overall, defense is much better and we're in 6th place. Probably won't go down, and very near to go up. After 40 games, this is pretty good.

Karlsson is our first star and giving a nice boost to his line. Same with Skudra, which I put on third. Brouwer probably going down with 40 on his back. Defense is much better then last year, even Bernier is not better at all. Bykov, Dicks and Hnilička in AHL, better for them to play there.

EDIT: @rancer890 - I like your first 5 picks.

Going into season 3 I have my work cut out for me. The BoD does not like me too much. Unhappy with me. And the fans are apparently being eroded. So..yeah that 2nd for 6th trade is not a good one. Plus for some reason noone seems to like my two offseason acquisitions with you know high attributes, ratings and scoring totals in the league as Dmen. Oh and letting go of the soon to be 38 year old goalie and having two young guys right now as my tenders is probably not helping.

But yeah...winnings solves everything right?
