A Canadian GM in Sweden: An IF Bjorkloven Story

Post by Marleau12C »

Early August 2006

Note: Well, I've been getting the itch to try something a little different, and have rarely played in Europe over the years! My IceDogs story will continue, but I will also be playing this save that I hope to have some fun with! I will be using the TBL v6.3 Rosters adjusted for the 2006 hardcoded start date, and will control IF Bjorkloven in the Swedish Allsvenskan.

August 2nd

IF Bjorkloven announce the hiring of Mark Addison as their new General Manager! Expectations are not high for the coming season, but the Board have asked that the roster be improved by seasons end. There is some space to use under the club budget of $820K, and $100K in transfer funds have been provided.

The Swedish Allsvenskan have released their 2006/07 Season Schedule, and Bjorkloven will open the season travelling to play Sodertalja on September 27th, then return home to play host to Karlskoga on October 1st, before travelling to play Almtuna on October 4th!

Addison announced that all three trainers under contract would be kept on, but the coaching staff would be fired en masse with the exception of Assistant Coach John Lind. The following staff have been released:

Jens Ohman, Head Coach
Tommi Hamalainen, Assistant Coach
Fredrik Hoog, Assistant Coach

August 3rd

Bjorkloven announce their schedule of preseason exhibitions, starting with a three game tour of Norway!

August 13th: at Frisk-Asker
August 15th: at Valerenga
August 17th: at Stavanger

Then they will return home for the Scandanavian Cup, which will run from August 25-27, and feature the following teams:

Bjorkloven (Hosts)
Mikkelin Jukurit (Reigning Champions, Finnish Mestis)
SonderjyskE (Reigning Champions, Danish Oddset Ligaen)
Skelleftea (Swedish Elitserien)

Regular Pre-Season

September 7th: vs. Asploven
September 10th: at Tingsryd
September 13th: at Timra
September 15th: vs. Malmo Redhawks
September 17th: at Vaasan Sport (Finnish Mestis)
September 19th: vs. Vasteras

August 6th

Bjorkloven announce the signing of Canadian winger Brandon Campos to a 1 year contract worth $36.5K! Campos last played in the 2004/05 season in the Central Hockey League, where he played in 60 games, putting up 48 (14+34) points, and was +7, with 22 penalty minutes!

Bjorkloven announce the signing of German goaltender Jan-Robin Heinrich to a 1 year contract worth $22.5K! Heinrich has played 44 career games over 3 season with the Krefeld Pinguine of the DEL!

Bjorkloven announce the hiring of Urban Berggren as Assistant GM!

Bjorkloven announce the hiring of Thomas Sjogren as an Assistant Coach!

Bjorkloven announce the hiring of Scott Yeo, Marc Carriere, Pal Olsen Senior, and Metod Jakopic as Scouts!

Season Ticket Update: 1,587

August 7th

Bjorkloven announce the hiring of Magnus Arvedson as Head Coach!

Bjorkloven announce the hiring of Olow Sundstrom as an Assistant Coach!

Bjorkloven announce the hiring of Constantin Kollman, Jami Ahonen, Mike Kohl, Azat Korolyuk, Matthias Juhl, and Andrej Borgula as Scouts.

August 8th

Bjorkloven announce the hiring of Mathias Wahlgren, and Mikael Tornqvist as Assistant Coaches!

Bjorkloven announce the hiring of Billy Thomas as a Scout!

August 9th

Bjorkloven announce the hiring of Michael Tornqvist as a Scout!

August 12th

Bjorkloven announce the signing of Italian Canadian defenseman David Cornacchia to a 1 year contract worth $62.5K! Cornacchia last played in the 1998/99 season with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League, where he played in 80 games, putting up 25 (4+21) points, and was -24, with 151 penalty minutes!

With the preseason tour about to start, we are about $50K over budget, so there will likely be at least a couple releases following training camp.
