I know we do have a lot of challenge participation around this time of year but I figured we're due for a new challenge while we wait for the 2014-2015 season and the new rosters to go with it. As we did with the Bruins a couple challenges ago, I've created a saved game in which I've simmed forward into the future. This time I've simmed all the way into 2029! I used a modified version of the TBL Rosters 6.3 in which Manimal has adjusted the salaries to match the salary cap EHM originally had. This seems to allow the finances to work better and not throw thing out of whack like we saw in the Bruins challenge.
The save starts you on May 1st 2029. The Penguins finished the regular season in last place in the Eastern Conference. Sidney Crosby is gone! Malkin is gone! Fleury is gone! You won't recognize much here. There's a few older veterans (30 years and older) that you might have seen as prospects or draft picks in past games. The rest of this team is new! This team has a very international flavor to it. On the current Penguins roster you've got 7 Canadians and 4 Americans. The rest of the team is Europeans. Most of the team's better players are European. The roster isn't terrible but it's not well balanced. The staff kind of stinks, so that will need some work.
The first thing you'll want to do is download the SAVED GAME. Once you've download the game, go ahead and load it. You'll see the game start with a GM named "TBL Challenge". You'll need to go up to "Options" and select "Add General Manager". Go ahead and add yourself here. Once you've done that, switch back to the "TBL Challenge" GM and retire him ("General Manager" and then "Retire"). Once you've done this, go ahead and save your game. You're ready to start the challenge!
