Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
Canucks are playing ridiculous hockey. Yeah that was Columbus and they are bad, but man to think that technically they are in 1st overall right now. Noone would have thought that. Not to mention that 1-2 are both Canadian teams right now. Insanity.
THe balanced scoring they are getting is crazy...last night 5 goals
1 from top line
2 from 2nd line
2 from 3rd line
And with Horvat-Hansen-Dorsett....wow.
And no Hamhuis and to have 2 consecutive shutouts and a third game before that where only gave up 1 goal. Just insane.
But it is Vancouver and this is November, and last time I checked the only trophy won in November is the Grey Cup (Canadian Football League championsip for those who do not know---and archi, American style football with Canadian rules to make it different from American football)

Montreal signed Gallagher to a contract extension of 6 years! I'm shocked I wasn't expecting them to sign him for that long. The deal will average 3.5 millions per year which overall is pretty good though!

There's loads of rumors right now that the Habs have traded for Eberle or someone from Edmonton but I don't see anything anywhere. Do someone heard of that or just a bunch of useless trolls again?

Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
Heard nothing out west. But if they did it was likely that they dealt
Tangradi, Paccioretty, Weiss, Malhotra, Allen, Emelin,Gilbert, Gonchar,Subban, and Price
for
Eberle, Arcobello,Yakupov, Ference, Petry, Schultz, Fasth, Scrivens, Pouliot and a 7th round pick.
Reason: Check out the weights on the roster, all those players meet Montreal requirements as mini-stick hockey players.

Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
So we have the Montreal Smurfs, the Columbus Deathwatch, the Edmonton noshows, and the Buffalo McDavids.
Now we can formally add another to the list of weird team structures
New Jersey signs Scott Gomez
Devils roster
Jaromir Jagr 42
Patrick Elias 38
Steve Montador 38
Marek Zidlicky 37
Scott Clemmenson 37
Danius Zubrus 36
Michael Ryder 34
Scott Gomez 34
Martin Havlat 33
Mike Cammalleri 32
Andy Greene 32
Ryan Clowe 32
Peter Harrold 31
Tuomo Ruutu 31
Stephen Gionta 31
Jordin Tootoo 31
Not to mention Bernier and Zajac who are both old 29's
I guess Lou needed some people to come and join him in investing and living in his seniors community
I introduce you to the New Jersey OldBoys

Yeah that sucks. Alot of hockey people since 2 weeks have passed out. Without been negative, I fear that Howe might rejoin them soon enough if he keeps having issues.jhcjobpb wrote:Another legend is gone. Jean Beliveau, dies at 83.

Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
Losing Beliveau is horridble. HIS NAME IS ON THE STANLEY CUP......
SEVENTEEN.....yes 17 times. 10 as player, 7 as exec. That is insane. And what a class act.
Gordie daughter said yesterday it was not another stroke, but even so I am sad as it appears Gordie is not that long for the world, but now it is probably better if he joins all the recent greats in heaven. YOu know..>Tikhonvov, QUinn, Beliveau....and of course lets's not forget the ultimate superstar...Per Olav Brasar.
Ok ok i have no idea if Brasar is dead. But I just watched the white towel game from 1982 on Sportsnet NHL Classics last night. Loved that guy as a player way back when I was a teen. Well...loved his name anyway. God that hockey is funny. More like wrestling, and when you look back and see Roger, Tiger and Minor waiving the white towels it cracks me up...because the grabbing, the checks to the head, the elbows, the crosschecks. In that game there were at least 2 suspensions in the first shift if that game was played now.
And pretty much every shift after that there was at least one. Curt Fraser in the third period absolutely RUNS OVER Murray Bannerman. with arms up to his head. I mean takes strides and skated right thru him.
But man how many more times could Don WHitman and Gary Dorhnhoeffer get Richard Brodeur wrong. Whitman kept calling him Bannerman and Doerhnoeffer was calling him Dennis Brodeur as well as Bannerman.
And yeah....the name pronouciations were horrible in so many cases.

Yeah Beliveau is a pretty big chunk of the Habs and I could add the whole Quebec history. He will be exposed at the Bell Center december 7 and 8, good idea IMO.

With the death of Mr. Béliveau I learned something today, he comes from my hometown.
Never knew that lol
Also, I hope I'll be able to catch on TV the warm-up of the Sens just to see Alfie's farewell.

Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
Manimal--I know Brasar is alive. I just like using his name. It is like Pear Juice and Sheldon Kannigeiser ---names that are funny to me, and that absolutely have no business being in the same sentence with Quinn, Tikhonov, Beliveau, Howe etc. I should have used Anders Eldebrink or Lars Molin. Definitely NOT Lars Lindgren or Thomas Gradin
What a lineup that team had
Fraser-Gradin-Smyl
Rota-Boldirev-Williams
Molin-Brasar-Nill
Currie-Minor-Delorme
Others also on the team and played a fair bit: Hlinka, Marc Crawford, Garry Lupul, BJ MacDonald, Jerry Butler, and young superstud Moe Lemay.
The playoff defence lineup was an aberration.
Belland-Eldebrink
Halward-Snepsts
Lindgren-Colin Campbell
Kevin McCarthy and Jiri Bubla were also on this team but were injured. A Young Superstud named Garth Butcher also played 1 game in the playoff run, not to mention superstar Andy Schliebner.
And RIchard BRODEUR. Who was so darn good his goals against average in the playoffs was 2.70 which was a MIRACLE in those days where most goalies fought to get to 3.00
And when watching the games....you can see why it was so hard. Man the goaltending was bad.
Canucks since that time in 82 seem to have always had a ton of Swedes.

Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
Nice coming out party for the Vancouver Canucks new 1st line. Richardson 2-1, Matthias 1-1, Hansen 0-1. Linden Vey also played on that line. Daniel HEnrik and Radim Sedin? Nary a point. Canucks so dominated the Penguins last night it was insane. Two huge hits that will be reviewed by Player Safety dufuses Pronger and Quintal.
Ryan Stanton smokes Patrick Hornquist, and Blake Comeau smokes Bo Horvat.

Yeah the game was pretty intense. No question Nucks deserved the win. But I was surprised about all the hits in the game.

Re: Official NHL Season 14-15 Thread
Stanton hit wasn't that bad IMO. Hornquist just hit a wall.
McTavish seems pretty confident of himself and the team. That's pathetic. He said somewhere that he wouldn't trade one of their 23-24 yo guys because they are still developing. Am I the only one that thinks that with 3 first overall in their roster, they should've develop a while ago? If the Oilers finish last again this year, (fantasy dream there) I really hope they will be denied picking 1st overall, it as gone too far. McDavid would suck with them I'm sure of it.

YEah, and definitely have a look to see what set up Hornquist getting his head knocked off. Nice pass Sid.
MacT also said that his coach is still developing.
What the coach is developing I do not know.
He also said it was NOT ...I repeat NOT a mistake to go into the season with RNH, Arcobello, Lander, Draistl, and the assistant coach's son (now traded) as their 5 top C.
One guy there....some say two NHL Centres, but not sure which of those other 4 makes two. Maybe Boyd Gordon should be included.

Yes...Evander Kane...jackass extraordinaire. This guy could be a really great player if he had a better mental state.
Oh...and archi...Biznasty2.0 released from PTO with Portland in AHL. Wonder if Cardiff might get him now.
