Contains four sets of two backgrounds and .COL files intended to hide player and/or staff attributes in the game's profile screens. See readme for more information on purpose, use and installation of each set.
Concept and backgrounds by B. Stinson
Full black screens by B. Stinson
Individual bars concept by Tasku
This pack is intended to graphically hide attributes on profile screens in EHM 2007... since hacking the code and doing it that way would be >>disobeying the license agreement<<.
What's in this pack:
#1. 'Full Black' backgrounds. - Using these backgrounds will give you completely black background pictures. Use these if you don't mind a "high contrast" look, and/or want a more uniform look. Naturally, this concept will hide both player and staff profile attributes.
#2. 'Hide Players' bar backgrounds. - Using these backgrounds will use Tasku's black bar concept to hide player attributes only, and will allow staff attibutes to still be visible from their profile screen. Use these backgrounds if you don't like the look of an all-black background and prefer to see most of the default action-shot backgrounds, while still hiding attributes from view.
#3. 'Hide Staff' bar backgrounds. - These backgrounds are exactly the same as the 'Hide Players' backgrounds, except these will hide only the staff attributes, and not the players' attributes.
#4. 'Hide All' bar backgrounds. - This set of backgrounds is a merge of the two above concepts. These will hide both player and staff attributes at the same time using the above black-bar concept. Use this set for full realism.
INSTRUCTIONS: You will need to pick one of these sets to use, and place each of the two backgrounds (default.png, and chl.png) here: Sports Interactive/NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007/data/skins/(skin-of-choice)/background. BACK-UP YOUR ORIGINALS FIRST!
#5. Two .COL files. One is for the 'ehm_default' skin, and the other is for the default 'colorblind' skin. For the entire concept of hiding attributes to work, you must use these files. The COL files are responsible for setting text colours within EHM. What these custom files will do is set all the profile attribute colours to black - which will make them blend perfectly into the black backgrounds or black bars behind them.
INSTRUCTIONS: To use these COL files, FIRST BACK-UP THE ORIGINALS. Then, take the ones included in this pack and place them here: Sports Interactive/NHL Eastside Hockey Manager 2007/data/skins. Then simply remove the "hide_attribs" prefix.
SPECIAL NOTE: Due to a bug in EHM 2007, you need to name COL files with the default name. If you give any COL a custom name, EHM will not recognize it on start-up (and then revert to the default file), and you will be required to reload your skin in-game each time you start the game. If your COL file uses the default name, however, the game will be tricked into using that. So, all default COL files should be named "ehm_default.col" or "colourblind.col".
NOTE: This concept of hiding attributes will not hide attributes on any screen other than the player/staff personal profile screens. Attributes will always still be visible on any screen that has 'Attributes' available in the 'View' menu. So avoid changing to the attribute view if you don't ever want to see attributes. Or use these screens to take a peak at attributes every once in a while.

Resurrecting this one as I think it really deserves it. Boy, this game got a lot harder without real player names and hidden attributes.

I really recommend guys to try it, it's like playing half blind. You can get a player that your (who knows how good?) scouts are and coaches says will be a star and be extremely confused why he won't score more than 5 points a season on the first line.

Re: Hidden Attributes File 2.0
This has always been my favorite part. I'll probably never forget the game I had in the freeware EHM playing with hidden attributes - I drafted this one right winger who actually turned out very well and I really began to follow him. Well, some time later, after I had moved on, I went back to that game just to peek at everyone's attributes, and it turns out that this second line kid that I had been so excited about... had I been playing with attributes visible, I probably never would have put him any higher than the 4th line. That's when I realized how much fun it can be to hide attributes.visualdarkness wrote:You can get a player that your (who knows how good?) scouts are and coaches says will be a star and be extremely confused why he won't score more than 5 points a season on the first line.
