Feedback on the Trade AI

Post by archibalduk »

Please use this thread to give feedback on the trade AI. I have found that EHM:EA is certainly better than EHM 2007 with the more obvious/outrageous trades, but I haven't tested any subtle attempts to exploit the trade AI.

If you have any feedback about the trades, please post example trades here and say briefly why you think the AI should or should not accept it.

This probably doesn't really belong here but whatever, Marty St Louis gets put on the block right away (does that happen every save ppl?), Rangers are $.06m above the cap, can this be fixed somehow? I understand that the AI will work to get under the cap and that the old guy gets sacrificed, but it's not really realistic when Rangers are in win now mode :P

The trade AI thinks "Max Reinhart" and "Sven Baertschi" are both worth "Damon Severson", a prospect, and a pick

my scouts also think Bear Cheese is a Two Way Forward

This isn't that surprising, depending on the pick/prospect, especially if Severson's profile hasn't been updated for the season. Severson has really outplayed expectations this year (2014-2015).

3 out of 4 of my scouts are saying Severson is a 1-2, the 4th is saying 3-4

I wonder if the AI will be more "agressive" for trading. One thing I found a little bit boring in 07 was that there was tons of rumors with a player of your team and nobody will approach you to trade or maybe one team would try. You always ended up putting your guy on the block to see like 20 teams proposing trades right away lol If any of you guys have a feedback about that, it would be appreciated! :-)

I inquired to the Dallas Stars for Jamie Oleksiak

They came back asking for Mark Fraser, 4th, a 5th, and a 6th

Haven't tried in EHM yet, but in 07 my big cheese was to scout the draft hard, draft all good players, and then recycle hot prospects that I had no room for by trading them for multiple draft picks. Hopefully hot prospects are scaled back a bit in terms of value.

Boston sent Dougie Hamilton to Vancouver for Radim Vrbata player for player. That's a little bit of IMO. But that one I think has more to do with the lack of quality rating for Hamilton with the DB than the game.

I inquired about getting the 1st round pick from the 30th placed team and they only asked for William Nylander and Andreas Johnson in return. A 1st round pick from a team that low in the standings should be pretty much untouchable IMO, and they certainly shouldn't be willing to trade it for a couple prospects who may never even reach the NHL.

He has a "random" potential in the game, but still good. So he might not have had such a great potential in your game.

Guys! Posting about youngsters doesn't say so much as they all have random potential. (-7,-8,-14-15-9 etc.) So it's impossible to tell if the trade is realistic or not.
I stated this, cause I see most of you writes about youngsters being traded.

While I agree that it should be very hard to get the said first rounder, I seriously doubt that Nylander won't reach the NHL ;)

Draft picks is still too easy, I traded Pominville and my 1st round pick for Buffalo Sabres 1st rounder in the postseason.

How does NTC/NMC work in EHM? Because Danny G definitely has one...

9 times out of 10 they wave it when you put them up on the block before. Im not sure whether they waive it or not just being on a bad team since Ive never traded for a player with NTC and always put my NTCs on the block before the trade goes through.

The AI definetely needs som tweaking come trading... Rangers just threw away 5 franchise/core players for basically nothing in return...

Not sure about the new game, but in 2007 I once tried to trade for a player with a NTC (Alfredsson in Ottawa) and the player actually vetoed the deal.

Not sure if this belongs here, but drafted Swedish players are signed almost immediately by the NHL team. This happens very rarely, the drafted players almost always play another season or two in the SHL before joining the NHL/AHL.
It was the same in EHM 2007, so I assume this is something that hasn't been changed in the code.
