How to Force Trade or Edit Team

Post by knight905416 »

Ok, I was sleeping this morning when my cell phone chimed that I received an email. I usually let these slip, but I guess I was between dreams and decided to read the email. It was from Steam and stated that Eastside Hockey Manager had a new up to date version being released. I usually let these spam go ignored, but I remembered how much fun playing EHM 2007 was, having Sundin and Forberg on my team at the same time, and wow, would that ever be fun to do again, with up to date rosters.

So I dragged my @ss out of bed and got on my computer to purchase the game, download it, get the logo, teams, and players installed. I gifted myself some first round draft picks for the next 10 years using the extra_config.cfg file. Now all I needed was an editor so that I could get a first line center and a number 1 defense man on the team.

This is where I am stuck. I have no intention of playing the Toronto Maple Leafs without a first line center and a number 1 defense man. I was at this stage at about noon today and have been researching solving this problem for the last 10 hours. So I have invested 10 hours trying to solve this and there does not seem to be a way, using the new system. I would have to resort to the old EHM2007 databases to use the existing tools. That does not make any sense to me. I'm going for McDavid next year (got Buffalo's pick) and I have the old game, why play the old game? I want the new game. New data.

So finally, does anyone have info on how to force a trade or edit a team so that my dream team can be realized? Maybe even some hints regarding the database file and a hex editor. My profession is computer programmer, but without some context, database file is still hours away from being understood. Some insight would be wonderful.

Added note, attempted to trade for the players I wanted, and nothing seemed to work. Throwing in 3 of some 4* players along with unlimited first round draft choices seemed to get nothing. Remember, i secured about 20 first round draft choices with the config file, but throwing them in resulted in nothing. I mean, even Gretzky could be gotten with 5 first round draft choices.

So, will I never enjoy this game, or will something be done to allow editing of teams. I am not going to waste a single minute of my time without a first line center and a number 1 defenceman!

EHM:EA doesn't have an editor at present, but you can edit an EHM07 database and then import it into EHM:EA

To edit EHM07 you can use the Pre Game Editor http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... =88&t=6745 or the EHM Updater http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... hm+updater

Here's how to import an EHM07 database into EHM:EA http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 13&t=13582

Here's the current rosters in EHM07 format https://onedrive.live.com/?cid=a0fa740e ... C5C5%21740

FYI - TBL's Data Editing Forum http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... .php?f=110

EHM doesn't have a "force trade" option. You can have up to 30 human GMs though, so you could add yourself as the GM you want to trade with, make the trade(s) you want to, and then retire the extra GMs you created

Ok, maybe I am asking the wrong question. Does using the "OLD" database actually have "OLD" data? Does the EHM07 have old data that does not include McDavid? Or any other 2007-2014 players? Or does it have all the modern data, modern rosters, and therefore using the new database is completely unnecessary?

I am sure there is a database that is older that has it without the McDavid's of the world because when the game came out noone had heard of him. TBL 1.0, 2.0 3.0 DB probably do not have him. OTher issues will be present, but I am sure....there is one with not many if any altered attributes etc. You would have to do the conversions or something that archi listed in another thread to get them useful in EHM EA though

Thank you Nino, batdad, that seems to work. The Toronto Maple Leafs have now undone many of their mistakes of the past, and have somehow properly tampered in the NHL by getting Shea Weber and Steven Stamkos. Some of the mistakes they corrected were to sign Phil Kessel to $5mil per year instead of $8mil, Phaneuf is also only getting $5mil, Bozak is now getting 2.2mil instead of 4.2mil for a 3rd line center. Just what the doctor ordered. Now we are having fun.
