This is for EHM 2007.
Probably a simple answer to this, but I can't seem to find it already here.
I'm trying to set some future signings of European (mostly drafted) players for some NHL teams in the extra_config.cfg based on when they were signed IRL in 2006-07. I've tried multiple ways and locations and it's just not working. It works for AHL and European teams, and it works for signing NHL players off to other teams, but any attempt to get European or CHL/College players fails.
Here's the different ways I've tried to input it:
"FUTURE_TRANSFER" "Anton" "Strålman" "Timrå IK" "Toronto Maple Leafs" 16 5 2007 0 505000 3
"FUTURE_TRANSFER" "Anton" "Strålman" "Timrå IK" "Toronto Maple Leafs™" 16 5 2007 0 505000 3
If I use the former I get a "bid" icon next to the player instead of the "trn" icon and nothing listed in the profile screen. If I use the latter I get zilch.
I've also put it under both # Postponed and miscellaneous signings and also accidentally under the # European junior movement section. The results were the same for both.

Re: Extra_Config.cfg Question
Old thread, but this was on first page, so here it goes.
This is for mostly for EHM:EA, but any input is welcome.
Does anyone know how reliable the RETIREMENT tag is for dates well into the future ? And does the fact that the player "knows" that they are retiring have an effect on their performance (or on his mental attributes).
Is it possible for the player to decide not to retire for some reason, even though they are set to retire with the extra_config ? Especially if I set the retirement date to like 2020.
----------------------------
I tried to get Nathan Horton to retire the next day after the start date. His futute said something like "Doesn't think he has a future in pro hockey". I simmed the season and he returned to play after his injury and had no intention to retire anymore.
I then set him to retire june 1st, set his injury to 12 months HOLIDAY. Again he had the same future. After I came back from vacation is may, he had already decided to retire, and retired on june 2nd (per my news). He didn't play a single game.
-----------------------------
I'm asking because I'm thinking about setting up an extra_config file with cap recapture penalties. If I can get players to reliably retire on certain date far into the future, and without it changing their on-ice performance, setting up the cap penalties would be pretty easy.
Of course some of these players might be traded before they retire, but that would be minor nuisance compared to the joy of getting to see actual cap recapture penalties in the game.
One option could be to set a future transfers to another league for those players, but they might return to NHL, which I don't want to see. (BTW, does a future transfer to europe make players untradeable in the NHL ?)

Re: Extra_Config.cfg Question
Hi there, don't know about EHM:EA but I've tried Future transfers and Retirements on EHM '07 and they tend to be thwarted by the other team's AI I think?
On one game I set up Rangers' trades for last season as Future Transfers, but these were all called off by the AI GM's of the 'selling' teams I think.
On most games I have Tom Carlon (MK Lightning) set up to Retire when he left Lightning in real-life this season. On one game I simmed through to check on some mods I'd made to the database and he must have signed a new contract as he stayed with Lightning all season and did very well for them?
So I think the extra config file may have it's limitations, I'll be interested to see if anyone else has different experiences though?

Re: Extra_Config.cfg Question
Yean, but I'm talking about transfers from NHL to europe. The NHL team can't cancel those (IIRC), so the only problem would be if the "buyer" decides to cancel it. But even then the player would be UFA.marksbros6 wrote:Hi there, don't know about EHM:EA but I've tried Future transfers and Retirements on EHM '07 and they tend to be thwarted by the other team's AI I think?

I have another extra_config project that I've been think about. A lot of people would like to see the salary cap go up each year. This might be possible with setting up a similar increasing cap relief for every team. The problem is, can the game handle and the extra_config file hande the amount of data, 30 lines of cap "fixes" for each season, times 25 seasons = 750 data inputs. Add in all the injuries, transfers and draft pick movements, and we're talking over 1000 lines. And can the game handle a 100 million plus cap ceiling.

Re: Extra_Config.cfg Question
With the 07 I have tried many different future_transfers and I must say anyone involving the NHL does not work well.
Haven't tested with EHM:EA
