Anybody can tell me how to gain reputation in Canada? I have a gm in the NHL (Quebec) and one in the CHL (Riviere-du-Loup) and both have some kind of reputation In the USA and in "All nations" but nothing in Canada.

I figured I need a good rep in Canada to get hired by that country as gm since, so far, I never got hired. Thanks for helping!

It's quite hard to play in KHL due to rosters limits.
I think it is usually 5 years to gain a nationality.

This is more of a "how did this happen?" question about my roster. I'm the Coyotes, simming a real-life day-to-day sim, and it's March 14th. I just had G Smith go down for 2 weeks, and was looking around at my options to bring up a goalie in the meantime. I saw this guy in Portland (one of my minor league teams?):

http://screencast.com/t/pafwDvkxr3Y

Did he REALLY play all 65 games? The backup on the team did not play a game. I don't think these rosters get moved around without me doing so, right? So he must have just played every game.

More amazingly, he went 51-4-10?!?!

Still trying to understand the roster handling of this game, but I put Smith on the 7 day IR (out 2 weeks), but I then see I already had 2 other goalies on the roster--I thought I just carried one. Oddly, the roster screen seems to only count 23 guys, but with 3 goalies, I' actually have 24. This was before placing Smith on IR as well.

Thanks for the help!

If you are short on required players, the roster screen will display "grey" emergency players as available to be used in case you don't have anyone to call up from the farm team. These grey emergency players don't count towards the roster limits and are of significantly lower quality.

What are some good cost-cutting trades to make starting as the Devils in the default database? I've already traded Langenbrunner + depth d-man for Chris Clark + Brian Sutherby, and I just traded Brylin for Weinhandl + AHLer. But I'm still over the cap by a little bit.

I can't suggest specific players off hand. Try going to the trade center and view the page by team needs or by salary cap chart. Either find a team that needs a position you have too many of or a team that has the cap space to take on a larger contract of yours.

One thing's for sure, don't put McDavid on the 4th line, that's terrible for developing players!

I would start by sending McDavid and Morin back to juniors atleast... I played Raffl with G and Voracek and he did really well there, him up there means you have a better balance in your second line with Schenn+Simmonds aswell :)

Aww rubbish, that's not going to help :D I suck at tactics, I wish there was a way you could win Stanley Cups without touching a thing on tactics. Could you share some stories about your Flyers playthrough? I absolutely love those and they motivate me to play more :)

Agreed on the junior guys and I always run 4 lines and 3 d pairings. I almost never have lead the league in individual scoring type stats but I quite often do in +/- and total goals scored and fewest goals allowed. I like balance with all lines strong and rarely keep players that don't have a 7.0 rating or above. Goalies need to be at least 8 IMO. I almost always play a defensive game and make tactics changes every 2 or 3 weeks or whenever I have a bad game or 2. For me, if it ain't broke I usually don't fix it. Too much line changing seems to bugger the tream up as do too many personel changes in too short a time. I also set personal tactics for all my players and only the top 2 or 3 scorers get offensive tactics... I like big strong players as well though I'm not sure they are as advantaged as in EHM07.

Yeah....guys are gonna tire out quickly because those that fill in on your empty 4th line will always be your top line wingers. They will get tired, and then likely injured.

Lines are not bad, as long as Vinny is doing something...he sucks in my game.

Tactics--Giant thread on it...read it all. EHM 2007 but reports (and my experience) is that .... well....same tactics work the same way.

Help with finances? My team always seems too be in the negative when it comes to the balance. Everyone now and again I will get an email about "cash injection" to stop the team from falling into revision ( sorry if that is not the correct term, trying to remember this off hand) I went and looked at my finance screen. My salary cap is in order along with my player budget. Although the section in expenditures "other" is what is draining money. Any ideas?

Okey it´s time for some help!
I am having big problem with my top lines and getting them to produce points. I´m playing The Sharks and the first season we finished 13th with 72p. PP23,82% PK80,46%. And now the second season we are sitting 10th with 61p PP16,67% PK80,09%.

My lines are

Thomas Hertl - Logan Couture - Patric Hörnqvist
Patrick Marleau -Joe Thornton - Joe Pavelski
Brandon Saad - Marcus Krüger-Jesper Fast
Johan Larsson - Brian Boyle - Melker Karlsson

M-E Vlasic - Brent Burns
Mirco Müller - Niklas Hjalmarsson
Anton Volchenkov - Radko Gudas
Brenden Dillon

Antti Niemi/Alex Stalock

I have, after some trouble, gotten the third line to be somewhat a shutting downline but now the top 6 doesn´t produce. Not at least what i believe they should produce.
i Have 8 player with a rating over 7.0. None of them have a rating over 8.

My top scorer are Couture (23 goals in 63 games) and Hertl (22 goals in 63 games)

Then i see Gustaf Nyqvist in Red Wing score 48g in 81 games last season and now 40 g in 61 games.

I realized that my team was shooting very little shots so i bumped up the shooting. That resulted in more shots but not so much more points.

So is it my tactics that does it or what? how do you set up your tactics do get players producing?
I am not interested in trying run and gun tactics.

This is what I have so far, I hope I didnt do a horrible job.
Spoiler: Click to reveal
By the way, has anyone ever won a Stanley without touching the tactics?
EDIT: I put Raffl on the 1st line now and Read on RW 2nd line.

I'm wondering about this. Do you give only personal tactics or just a few to fine tune to the players ability, and otherwise go with unit tactics? I am really thinking about just going personal tactics but am afraid it might screw up the line chemistry.

Had a weird 1st season with my Florida Panthers. Had a 1st line of Huberdeau-Barkov-Jagr and the two wide men especially absolutely tore it up...untill the final stretch of about 10 games, in 8 these guys produced 1 point! And they are absolutely terrbile. Had to pull of Jagr and moved up Boyes and Huberdeau and Barkov started to get a few extra points in the last 2 games, these 3 then went totally pointless through the playoff 1st round. Only really my 3rd/4th line did the producing in those 5 games.

Is it actually possible for players to get burnt out without me knowing it? I've seen Barkov "in need of rest" a couple of times during the season, pulled him a few times from the linup especially during these 3-4 game in a row situations. But they all seemed fine at the end of the season. Tried a few tactical tweaks to no good. It felt like the game telling me they had enough points already (Huberdeau/Jagr both 80+ during regular season)! :-D

I give personal tactics to all. And I do not often bother with unit tactics, just with the team....sometimes I do them all if I lose or the team is playing poorly. In fact in my Flyer game i have just done that.

The in need of rest comes because of the amount of ice time you are giving guys causes them to get worn down even though read as 93% or whatever. I just let them sit a practice or two here and there.

I'm not sure if I understand your question well or not and I wonder why you feel sorry about it but when you have a player getting injured for a long time when you click on the player to go to his profile you should have the option to put him on the injured list. The only thing I dunno is if that changed in EHM EA.
