Player Potential Rating?

Post by sullivan2106 »

Is there a player potential rating somewhere that I am missing? If not, what do you look for when drafting players via the entry draft? Current ability + what your scouts have to say?

Your scouts will give you a basic idea of what to expect from the player's future, though it's of course not always accurate. Better scouts give better projections obviously. Look in the Notes section of the player's scouting report.

From EHM 2007 my basic drafting strategy was to look at the players current ability, his report card from my scouts, and most importantly to me, his physical and mental attributes. Speed and strength can make up for a slight lack of technical attributes, but good technical attributes can sometimes be useless on a player who can't physically hang at the top level. Also, players who are determined and work hard always seemed to develop better than players who lack those attributes.

None of this is obviously EHM law, and it's the short version of my overall drafting/team building ideology, but I hope it helps a little.

Agreed, I wouldn't draft any player with under 10 determination, except when he's a stellar #1, like Crosby/Stamkos/Tavares etc.

Speed can be trained up, so once in a while I draft/trade a guy with under 10 speed, but he has to be very good.
