I once encourage one my player to fight (Samuel Morin) and he keep getting game misconduct and suspensions. Bad idea.

Encouraged is to be used only sparcely, when coaching games yourself. Unless you want to have players with >1000 penalty minutes in a single-season, which was a very funny thing to do in the earlier versions of NHL:EHM.

New patch out and it looks like most of our biggest concerns have been looked at and a potential fix is in place :)

Yeah the game misconduct for every instigator penalty is annoying. But it will likely soon be reality anyway. I have had 7 fights with Zac Rinaldo 41 games into the season, and the only way to get him to fight that many times was to have him on berserk/encouraged for at least half the games. And every time he has been tossed, and now he has had 3 games in suspensions for it. This is inaccurate and should be looked into at some point, but for now...I can live with it. Cause that is all RInaldo is good for anyway.

Can't wait to start a new game to see if Martin St. Louis is as easy to land!

I was wondering about that too. Apparently Nyquist is the new steal up for grabs in the new version

He unfortunately is.. I just can't resist getting him though, even though I find it "cheap" .
He's a consistent 60+ goals scorer every season. (He managed 72 goals in 78 games in my last save for the 2014-2015 season with Pittsburgh)

It'll be interesting to see another 20 year sim and see how things change.

Scoring seems to be down after the update. Of course my sample size is very very small (15-20) games and it could just be a coincidence but average goals for game for me before the update was 7.8 and now it's 6. Has anyone else noticed something similar or is it just me?

I was skeptical just as you were, but it seems like it.

My sample size was around 20 games and I notice a lot more 2-1 3-2 games and a lot less 6-3 or 6-4 games.

That said, obviously it's not definitive.

Looking at the Changelist, this could be it:
In-Game Engine v67
==================
- Adjusted shooting accuracy
- Adjusted goalie saving abilities

Do we need to start a new game for these changes to take place? I'm assuming not since the player attributes have changed in the middle of my seasons.

I hope these are the first of many great things to come. There are still a lot of things to work on but getting scoring down was a major one. I had hoped to see wild card standings in this update. I'm not sure why that wasn't added.

Not sure where to put this but what does one do when the board thinks a signing of a prospect is unrealistic? I don't want to lose his rights. I am not sure what is unrealistic, I offered him the max for a rookie and he demanded the team status "core player".

Are you over your player budget? Is your team financially in the red? Or are you over the maximum number of players under contract (50)?

I am not over the player budget, finances are in red but on every monthly board update they say finances are extremely good. Also I have not reached the maximun number of players under contract. Thing is they don't say what is unrealistic, perhaps it is that he demands a "core" team status... If I give him the "hot prospect" status he rejects the offer.

EDIT: This is a joke, now I cannot sign any of my first rounders from the first season and I have now lost their rights. Tried to sign another prospect at the max salary (925k) and it was rejected by the boards too. So this means I cannot sign any of my elite prospects...This is what my finances look like:

As of right now there is no point continuing with this save until I know the cause of this.

Only about 20 games into the latest update, but I'm still finding defensemen make way too few hits and far too many giveaways...we're talking nobody over a hit a game, but many over 2 giveaways per game still. This may be a database issue (TBL v7.3), but I'm tempted to just slot defensive forwards in place of defensemen to see how they work.

EDIT: Simmed through the first season and it's about the same trend. Only 1 dman with >1 hit per game (barely), 10-15 with >1 giveaway per game. No dman has an 8AVR or above. In terms of points though, the best is 66, but almost 40 dmen have >40 points...seems rather high (FYI, Doughty is the leader, Karlsson is 37th @ 39 pts, top 50 have >35 points).

Hitting as a whole is very low in this game, the league leader was Ovie with 134 (IRL it's Matt Martin with 382)

Forwards scoring seems pretty accurate though now, and goalies are much better (10-12 > .920 SV%)

Basically, hitting needs to be turned way up, dmen scoring needs to drop, dmen need to be boosted in other defensive aspects though.

One thing I love about the simulation with EHM:EA is the fact that I cant trade freely for picks in later years. In EHM: 07. Any pick offered in the current year would be acceptable by the AI if I asked for a pick in a future year. So essentially, because the first 3 or 4 years of drafts never generate the type of talent that later years do, I can trade all my picks in the first 3 or 4 season for futures later on. Or. Trade all my star players for a bevy of picks in later years and use my picks in the first 3 - 4 seasons to bolster my roster so I can compete in the present. I noticed I wasn't able to do this in EHM: EA. At first I was bummed when all my trades were being rejected, but I realized later that this was a nice touch. kudos.

A minor gripe i have is that when simulating with key only highlights. Some goals are not shown. All short handed goals for example go by unmentioned.
