Release The Dots! Better 2D Player Animations

Post by raiders5k »

EHManagers:

You manage MEN; not DOTS!

This small mod changes your players from little dots rolling around the rink into more top-down, "Head & Shoulder" player models.
Now players hold their sticks more lifelike...well at least as lifelike as we can expect in a fantastic game like ours.

You can now see:
* players actually swerving around,
* hold sticks in their appropriate hands,
* line-up face-to-face for faceoffs,
* more natural shot taking,
* Players locking up during fights!
* and watch these guys really control a puck the length of the ice.

Oh, but that's not all, mate.
Are you having a hard time differentiating one player standing upright on his skates as apposed to another who is knocked flat on his butt?
Can't tell if your goalie is making those butterfly saves or letting shots go over his head while he's laid-out on the ice?
Would you like to see which one of those lazy bums on your line spends too much time on his behind?
Well your worries are over, Beer Meisters.

This add-on will SHOW your guys (and theirs) knocked down on the frozen pond.
Watch your enforcers truly do their jobs.
See which one of those wingers has fallen and can't get up.
Observe your blue collar guys giving up their bodies to block shots!
And marvel at your goalie's magnificent robs from his keister!

Instead of having a regular dot for standing players and a shadowed-circle for fallen ones,
you will now have a top-down view for standing players and a full body view for fallen players.
However, the length of time spent laying on the ice is totally up the the player's attributes and your game speed settings.
Player models work in both normal and zoom modes.

Folder contents:
1 "player" folder

Installation instructions:

1) Download the file "player.zip".
2) Unzip the file using 7zip or any other applicable file unzipper.
3) Goto \Steam\steamapps\common\Eastside Hockey Manager\data\skins\ehm_default\ingame.
4) Rename the folder "player" to "playerOLD".
4) Place unzipped "player" folder into \Steam\steamapps\common\Eastside Hockey Manager\data\skins\ehm_default\ingame.
5) Leave folder open and start the game.

You should now see new player models skating around the ice.
If you do not like the new models, simply return to your open folder, delete the new player folder and restore your default player folder.

Note: Some teams may still clash with similar colors due to the EHM:EA current build, but you may be able to distinguish them a little better now.

OHHH, but that's not all, laddies!
Speaking of Beer; who doesn't like beer when they're managing their boys on the ice?
As a special bonus, I'm submitting to you some fancy ice logos for your faceoff circles. You should already have the team logos in place,
now let's add some alcohol marketing to that ice.

Simply download the file "data.zip".
Unzip it and place it into your \Steam\steamapps\common\Eastside Hockey Manager\ folder.
You don't have to back up this file because the default file that will be changed is in your "faceoff" folder named "default".
If you do not like your new BEER logos, then simply copy and paste all the default files into your "faceoff" folder.
These logos work on both normal and zoom views.

Folder contents:
1 "data" folder

I hope you find these add-ons helpful & enjoyable.
Skate On!

P.S. If you haven't downloaded custom logos from other submitters, you may need to re-name the following files in your "faceoff" folder in order for your beer logos to appear as designed:

Default Logo_b2.png
Default Logo_b3.png

Its cool but also a bit tougher on the eyes. Players don't rotate their shape so as a result you don't get the effect of players facing the proper direction.

I think its meant to be an icon rather than a actual player model. Its looks good be needs to be a little bit bigger in size.

Just download player file and check it out in the folder. Takes just a few seconds.

I've added a preview of sorts to the bottom of the first post of this thread.

Look good and sounds good, however can the maker or a member of the community tweak it so that it shows the direction a player is facing please.

That is not possible. For now at least, what I know off?! (I could be wrong, but I doubt it)
