The definition of a 'fail' or a 'success' in this game is really yours. Some people are happy putting together a fantasy team and exploiting every mistake by the system to win; other people won't allow themselves to take advantage of the computer's flaws.crazylegs wrote:I'm 50 games into my first season with the avs, currently placed fourth in the western conference. Duchene and Tangs are top two in points in the league, with iggy trailing at 6th.
I find myself sympathizing with Buffalo who of course are dead last by 10+ points. I'm not even going to try and trade for their 1st round pick. I say, let them have mcdavid. Does that make me a weak individual, destined to fail in this game?
My rebuilding Devils would up with 3rd overall (and 13th - I got the Ducks 1st mid season and they amazingly crashed right out of the playoffs). I know that I probably could have traded up for McDavid, but I thought that's just not realistic and decided to stick with 3rd. I actually ended up taking Weneski, who was rated #4 in the draft just behind Hanifin. For some reason Hanifin in my draft didn't seem to have particularly great attributes. We'll see how that works out. I got Barzal with #13.
In my second season the Devils are doing much better, 7th in the East after the first month. It's mostly the same core as the group that was third-worst the previous season, so we'll see if it lasts. One surprising thing is that my leading goal scorer is Luke Adam, who I picked up off waivers in the previous season. He's a point per game so far.
