New Game - Setup Question - Enhanced / View Only

Post by blitzer99 »

Hello all. I have a question regarding starting a new game.

I like to be able to see the statistics of all the players so I can look for players in other leagues etc.

I planned on having NHL and AHL on Enhanced and all the others on View Only. Is this the only way that stats will be shown for other leagues?

I find that it takes very long to simulate until the next day with these settings. I will be playing as an NHL GM.

How do you normally set it up yourself if you are planning a long term NHL GM game which will include drafting, scouting, AHL management etc.

Thanks for the responses!

You probably won't like my response :-D I always play with all available Leagues on Enhanced (and with a Full database)

I've never cared that it takes longer to sim myself, because an actual simulation of the actual events in games that are actually played is what I want.

I think the Quick Sim in EHM is like the current version of FHM, it's basically a number generator for the stats (including goals) that are tracked, it's not an actual simulation of the events that occur in a game (and therefore for me, it doesn't have the level of depth/complexity I want).

It's probably why currently with EHM:EA the Quick Sim stats are closer to IRL than the Enhanced Simulation stats, because it's easier to get the numbers/stats correct when you don't actually simulate the game events...in comparison, a full simulation means the players are going to play as they do (Attributes will have a bigger impact), and strategies are going to have a larger impact, and suddenly it becomes much harder to emulate IRL stats (because there's many more factors to account for)...and it's also probably why FHM has been waiting so long for the "match engine" patch; it's much, much harder to simulate the actual game events and still achieve realistic results!

I do hope both EHM and FHM succeed! :-)

What about database ? what's the difference in selecting full vs minimum ? Number of players in the game ? amount of stats being recorded and available to see ? etc

Number of players in the game, and more players of course means more stats being recorded/available to see (the more players populate the lower/development leagues, not more NHL caliber players)

Number of players in the game / lower leagues is the only thing being modified ? No impact on the number of leagues/teams themselves or any other aspects of the game ?

I don't know, I've never tested it/looked into it, sorry (I just know from others that low CA and/or low PA players didn't always show up if you didn't use a Full database)
