SMASHVILLE Predators

Post by zyberianwarrior »

Got the game today and after a long process of getting in the right files (updates, rosters etc...) missing something on the news files (logos not loading right). An awaiting game 6 against the PIGEONS (Hawks) I decided to take over the GM role of Nashville and let Laviolette coach I just make the deals and keep the team competitive. The competitive factor skyrocketed when Bickell was put on waivers from the evil Pigeons (I scarfed him up) a few days later the enforcer I wanted the Preds to get at the waiver wire from Ottawa Neil was also put on waivers I claimed him immediately. I sent back down to Milwaukee Taylor Beck (who had a good season for the preds) and Cline. I played out the Month of October and the Preds are 8-1-1 (with THREE shootout WINS!) Not even Nashville was that good in October :) and it is my best start as a GM EVER!!!! =P~ Oh btw how do I edit the info screen on the Predators Columbus is no longer the rival (they are in the Eastern Conference now) and Chicago is... :dunno:

update time IRL preds lost game 6 and it was revealed that Weber had a dislocated knee :( should be back for pre season next year..anyway off to the game..picked up Hammond on waivers (may work a trade at the deadline to pick up a draft pick or two :) ) Pekka Rinne exploded in his last three games recording shutouts over the Coyotes a 4-1 win over the sharks and a 4-0 win over Boston to get player of the week honors :) my two other waiver pick ups are doing fine (Bickell with 6g 11p and 3 GWG :) Chris Neil with 5g 8p and 23 pims :) and overall the team has a western conference best of 84% on the PK only the Bruins have a better PK at 85% and is currently on an 8-2-0 streak (tied with St Louis for the best but the Preds trashed St Louis 6-0 recently :) ) Tampa has the best record with 24-7-2 record and Drouin is blowing up the league with 21G and 40 points which way outpaces all rookies.

First Game for Jagr played a measley 8 minutes while adjusting to new team meanwhile the Preds were down 3-1 at the 44:48 mark when Tarasenko blasted one by Rinne on the PP. Neal answered 5 minutes later to make it 3-2 and Cullen tied it on the power play at the 52:34 mark. The preds held on to get the point and took it to a shootout.....Oshie was denied by Rinne.... Ribero shot wide... Schwartz with a shapsot blocker save by Rinne...Neal shot it wide as well....Tarasenko moves in and his shot was snared by Rinne and up next JAGR!!!!!! Jagr takes the puck and wrists it towards Allen...It bounces off Allen and it GOES IN!!!!!! PREDS WIN!!!!!!! =P~ :notworthy:

well just like the real Predators the team fell apart down the stretch and finished 7th and we entered our first round against #2 LA kings with some minor tweaks...first since our rosters were expanded I called up Calle Jarnkrok Taylor Beck and a few others from Milwaukee second was a 3-1 trade for Michael Raffi for Gabriel Borque, Zack Budish and Josh Shallah (Raffi had 55 points for the Flyers and added 14 more in 18 games for the preds and 5 goals 13 points in 21 playoff games :) ) . Preds won game 1 2-1 as Jarnkrok got the game winner :) with Beck and Stalberg assisting...Game 2 was all LA 1-3 but once the Pred Adam Oates home ice and got the fan support Rinne delighted the crowd with TWO BACK TO BACK SHUTOUTS!!!! :notworthy: Wilson got the OT GW to advance the preds to round 2 and the Sharks...Game one was the James Neal show opening up with 2 goals and the preds cruised to a 4-2 win. Game 2 was toughre but the Preds with goals from Forsberg, Cullen and Weber in the 3rd pulled out another 4-2 win. Game 3 went into OT and Craig Smith banged home the game winner for a 3-2 win and 3-0 game lead. Sharks came back in game 4 with vaneks 2 goals and won 3-1 but another 3rd period rally from Neal and Jones advanced the preds yet again with a 4-2 victory and a conference final date with the stars (before the update they were #1` now a correct #2) and the Rangers should of gone in as #8 instead of Carolina but.....anyway The preds needed yet another 3rd period to win game 1 3-1 (Josi and Stalberg) Dallas countered in game 2 with Peverly getting a 3rd period goal and a 2-1 win, Home ice again favored the preds winning both games and Raffi with the game winner in game 4 put the Preds up 3-1. Dallas stormed back at home blowing out the Preds 5-1 but a 3 goal first peruiod outburst was good enough to get a Stanley cup final trip with a 3-1 win :). In the Finals it was WAIT FOR IT.... (Side note I have a stuffed penguin I dress up in his Penguins hockey gear and naturally he has issues with that TRAITOR James Neal leaving his beloved pens. Anyway the local paper was doing a video good luck wishes and we appeared on it and said WE (meaning the Penguins would see YOU (Preds in the finals....well in this game IT HAPPENED!!!!!! The Pens needed a 7th game win over Boston to do it. Despite going down 2-0 at home). Gamde 1 and it was ALL PREDS scoring 5 times before the Pens could answer twice in the 3rd. Weber 1G 1A first star Crosby 2a second star. Game 2 and Hornqvist opened up the scoring for Pittsburgh before the Preds answered with a PPG from Riberio and a goal from Raffi early in the second. Malkin tied it midway in the second but it was public enemy #1 JAGR broke the tie 7 minutes later and Roy added an empty netter for the 4-2 win. Game 3 went into OT as Crosby tied it late in the 3rd period on the PP and Downie ended it with a wrister and the Pens first win. Crosby and Comeau delivered the first two strikes sandwiched with Roy's goal and a 2-1 Pens lead before Nashville took over from teh second on with jarnkrok and eventual GW Jagr (again what a steal of a trade that was too) Smith added a PP later in the 3rd for a 3-1 game lead...Smith opened up the scoring in Pittsburgh and held that lead until the trifecta of Hornqvist Malkin (PP GW) and Comeau slammed the door dashing the cup clincher at home for the Preds. Rinne was widdled!!!!!!! Weber opened up game 6 with a PPG and Neal added a second tally in the first period to take a 2-0 lead. 27:44 Neal on the PP gave the Preds a 3-0 lead. at the 54:29 mark the Pens on the PP as we pick up the call from Doc Emerick.....Sutter flipped a backhander...OHHHHHH!!!!! What a stick save play from Weber and he clears it....54:11 Martin with a shhhhooootttt and OH!!!!!!!!!!!! RINNE with a nice glove save.....a little corner action and its Neal getting possession..passes to Cullen breaks open...backhander and SCORES!!!!!! SHORTHANDED And its 4-0 Predators!!!!!! 56:43 Mark Crosby gets called for slashing and Crosby does not like the call and lets the referee know it..Pierre interrupts MISCONDUCT!!!!....Doc....Crosby just got hit with a 10 minute misconduct and off the ice he goes..Four seconds left Spalling with the shot and OHHHHH!!!!! What a block by Ribero two seconds...one......NASHVILLE PREDATORS ARE THE STANLEY CUP CHAMPS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Difference Makers...Obviously the waiver wire with Bickell getting 12G and 29P Neil with 6G 13P and 82 minutes and Hammond was big but the two trades getting Jagr and Raffi I felt made the difference. Jagr I know will not be back and Fisher was a huge disappointment coming back from his injury with 3G 9P -15 tried to resign him but he refuses to talk so I guess I'm going to let him go as well. Forsberg finished up with 17G 55 points (Drouin was top rookie dog with 39G and 79P) Semin was the scoring leader with 51G 99P. Enemy Ovechkin was a +62 (WOW!!!!!) with 88P. Mcgratten led with 270 PIMS (NOT surprised) Rask was top goalie with 1.92 GAA and a .934 save%. Bishop was a huge surprise with 49 Wins (8 SO) 1.91 GAA and 929 save%. (Rinne played the most 71G 42 Wins (7 SO) and a respectable 2.44 GAA and a 92 save%. Quick had 9 Shutouts and 37 wins :). In a way I found this way easier than trying to draft a team (and I did NOT set or make any tactics I need to learn that I guess especially giving up 10 shorthanded goals and getting only 2 (reg season added 2 in playoffs to lead all). a league leading 21.1% in PP (18.6 playoffs mid pack) was nice to see as well. Second best 83 PP goals (#1 in playoffs with 19) very nice :) NJ and Montreal had 84. Pittsburgh had 80. Josi tied for second with 58 points (11G Kronwall with 13 was the other) Fowler with only 8 goals but 60A to lead all dmen in points with 68. Oh well taking a break from it and then see what happens in year 2. :)
