Re: Feedback on the Trade AI
Season 4 and two stupid AI trades. Dumbest ones in my game yet. Chicago is right now 6 points out of a playoff spot having played 58 games.
They trade 34 year old Duncan Keith, listed as CAnada's 8th best player still to Carolina for:
Phil Di Giuseppe who is 24 and has done nothing (mind you my scouts say potential 1st liner) 3 goals in 112 games.
24 year old stud Ryan Murphy
the rights to Carolina's 1st round 2017 NHL Draftee--12th overall-Maril Harrington
AND THE CANES 2018 1st rounder, which right now would be 25th overall.
What is Carolina thinking? Ugh.
The other ones?
Chicago trades stud dman Nicklas Hjalmarsson to Florida for Steafan Mily (7th rounder, 4th line potential, age 18) Logan STanley (RW-3rd round 2016, limited potential age 19), 3rd line LW Harry Zolnercyk...horrible.
Carolina gets ME Vlasic and rights to a bum for Jakub Vrana
LA gets Nikolai Goldobin and Justin Braun for Vyacheslav Voynov
And the other really good one:
Winnipeg gets 30 year old Bobby Ryan from Ottawa (best year 23 goals) for 22 year old Jimmy Lodge (3 line pot), Riley Stadel (5-6 potential), rights to a 4th rounder Genady Volkov (4th line potential), and the Jets 2nd rounder in 2018
Apparently in EHM EA, quantity is still better than quality as you move through the seasons. Silly trades. No way ever happen. I mean the 34 year old stud for the 24 year old stud???? Straight up even an issue, but for the Canes who are in a great playoff position to make that move....when their 24 year old dman is scoring 45 points for the lsat 3 years, what?
I mean my Trouba for Sean Couturier, Andy MaCdonald was bad enough. But at least the Jets got something out of it in Couturier. Sheesh.
ARGGGHHHH.....
Cristian Djoos--Originally Washington 7th rounder 2012 has apparently developed into superstar everyone wants although he has never done anything.
IN 2015-16he played for Hershey and the Caps, at deadline he was dealt to Winnipeg for spare part prospects (2 of them)
In 2016-17 he played for WInnipeg (did decently averaging 6.99 as a 22 year old, 8 goals 21 assists).
In the offseason of 2017 Jets trade him to Anaheim straight up for Richard Rakell, 2nd line centre potential. Yeah okay.
Now...deadline of 2017 after Mr. Djoos has been with the Ducks and 2-16-18,....they trade him away to Vancouver for: MATTHIAS EKHOLM.
In less than 3 seasons he has gone from being worth nothing but 2 scrubs, to MATTHIAS EKHOLM...a kid who played in NAshvialle and was dealt to Vancouver Nick Bonino and Carter Verhaege....at the deadline in 2017.
All Ekholm has done? 23-60-93 in the last 2 seasons, and this one is not even over. Ugh. Ugh.
WOnder why Djoos has not developed? Maybe cause he never stays in one spot. He is gonna be Brent Ashton by the time he is 25.

Re: Feedback on the Trade AI
Bah..double post.
So guess who else the Hawks dealt away?
1. Hjalmarsson
2. Keith....
3..... yes, Seabrook.
And then they traded for Sekeras. That would happen in real life.

Re: Feedback on the Trade AI
He is small and light. How is his performance stacking up? I have yet to find AI waiving someone cheap unless they are not performing for them. I get that this looks bad from his attributes, but what has his performance been like?

Re: Feedback on the Trade AI
can`t remember the exact number but when I had checked at the time he was around 7. I remember it wasn`t a rating that I thought this is the reason why ! Weird considering his very low contract and high value !

Re: Feedback on the Trade AI
CPU trades I've seen in my 4 seasons have been mostly fair, but this one really stood out. Troy Brouwer would barely be worth a 3rd or 4th today, but this trade was made in 2018 when his stats have probably deteriorated a little.

Re: Feedback on the Trade AI
Have to say...the trade AI has improved a million miles from EHM 2007. SO MUCH BETTER. Perfect? No...but now it is at least showing some realism, other than that I just sucked the Leafs into taking Sedin Sedin and HIggins for their first and Nashville first.

Where were the Devils in the standings? Because that makes a difference in the autonomy of the trade. If they were competing for a playoff spot or a cup contending team this isn't as bad of a trade as apposed to if they were a basement team.

Re: Feedback on the Trade AI
I think they mostly just seem to favor quantity over quality - they'll accept a lot of average players for a good one, but likewise that's all their offering.
I find 'fair' trades get refused, but some crazy ones can go through. And as for draft picks they seem to decide their value on a whim - offered the AI an upward trade out of curiosity and they refused. Offered a huge down trade to another and they took it.
I'd assume it was based on a pre-season prediction as they were going to be the basement team, but they were nowhere near that and the AI should know better. Likewise they seem reluctant to give up good picks at all, even for very good offers.

Re: Feedback on the Trade AI
With the new build--there are alot fewer insane trades. That Brouwer trade is something that I am seeing some of. Veteran leadership is valued higher in the game now, as it is in the NHL come trade deadline time. First round picks are generally much harder to trade for especially if the team is in the bottom 3-5 teams that have a legit shot at winning the lottery. This is good.
The progression of trading is excellent. Not perfect, and likely never will be until we can make computers act completely like real life hockey people (And people in general) but it is SOOOO Much better than it was.
The quantity issue still exists yes...but it is nowhere near what it was in EHM 2007 where I could send 20000000 bags of pucks and get Wayne Gretzky

Re: Feedback on the Trade AI
Remember guys: GM attributes matter for trading. You can't judge the trade AI all alone, it works in concert with other things. Team A may have rejected a trade because the GM is smart, and Team B may have taken a dumb one because they have the lovechild of Mike Milbury and Jay Feaster as its GM.

Well there is that! That said those stupid GM's seem to pull the results out.Primis wrote:Remember guys: GM attributes matter for trading. It's not excessively bad, just occasionally.

There's also the fact that the AI is way too liberal in firing staff. They also make some.... "curious" choices for replacements on occasion.

Re: Feedback on the Trade AI
Is it just me, or are 6th and 7th round picks absolutely useless/devalued now for trades?
I can watch a team try to offload a not-that-great player to get under the cap, get no takers, but if you offer a 6th they'll refuse, and then just waive the player anyways and lose him and get nothing.
I mean, you shouldn't be able to use 6th and 7th picks for much obviously, but.... at this point in those cases I just wait until the player is waived instead, because the AI will want way too much back for the privilege of me fixing their cap problems.

I agree. In general it seems the trade AI values the picks more than the prospects.Primis wrote:Is it just me, or are 6th and 7th round picks absolutely useless/devalued now for trades?

Re: Feedback on the Trade AI
Some trade deadline highlights from my game:
Scottie Upshall for a 1st AND a 3rd (Tallon & Cheveldayoff).
Mark Letestu for a 1st and a 3rd (Murray & Kekkalainen)
Bryan Allen (who was just passed through waivers day previous) for a 3rd and a 4th (Bergevin & Snow)
Those are..... ummm.... yeah, that's bad...
I'm also seeing 2nds for 4th liners get rejected. Draft pick values DEFINITELY need a recalibration.

Is that Gretzky in Edmonton (prime of his career), Gretzky in LA (entering the downside of his career), or Gretzky the coach in Arizona?batdad wrote:With the new build--there are alot fewer insane trades. Maybe this happened because you have to pay a high price at the deadline to get your man. Like in real life.Primis wrote:Some trade deadline highlights from my game:

Well Duncan Keith just went to waivers on my game (yep, not even traded).
Smooth move hawks.
