Starting Unemployed / Finding Available Jobs

Post by krownroyal83 »

Started a new game unemployed and after a season i want to take control of a team. I know all you really have to do is add gm and can put yourself as any of the NHL teams or whatever league you're watching but where do i see where possible jobs are available around the hockey world?

Click your manager's name on the menu bar, and from the dropdown select 'Job Information.'

From the Job Information screen, you can then click the 'View' dropdown on the right, and select All Nations to see jobs from all over the world.

Question: Unemployed start

Post by caymanmew »

ok so i just started unemployed and after a month and a half i have yet to get a job. in fact I've only seen 1 job opening(have checked every day).

so what i am wondering is how long should i have to wait to get a job/see more openings?

i clicked every league so i should be able to get a job in any league.
i Started Aug 3 (Russian start date)
my past experience is minor leaguer.

any help/advice would be great

Thanks

I never tried to start unemployed however I know I see many job opportunities. Make sure you select all nations in the view scroll down menu. Maybe the fact you started in August and only waited a month could explain why. Most leagues are playing months after August. Again just my thoughts, never started unemployed but saw a couple Gen. manager get fired through a year in the NHL.

Ok well like I said if you only waited a month after August that would probably be why. Most leagues plays later on in the year. On top of that it needs more time before a GM gets fired for poor performance.

You definitely won't be seeing much, if anything, in the first few months. If you're willing to take any open job, you should see something reasonable after maybe six months or so. If you're looking for a specific league and/or team, you could be waiting for a year or more.

I started unemployed with a reputation of 'Junior' with all leagues selected as playable.

I went on vacation with the option to apply for any higher reputation jobs checked. I let the game sim overnight and when I checked in the morning it was July 2019 and I still didn't have a job. :dunno:

What nationality are you in the game?

I wish I was that lucky ;) . I've never been able to go on vacation for more than a few months without having a random offer auto-accepted.

On a serious note, this may, as Kopi is implying, be down to your selected nationality. I play as an American with "Rec. league" reputation, and while starting unemployed, I see frequent offers from ECHL and Canadian Junior teams.

When we'll receive more lower leagues will be easier to take job offer from starting unemployed. :)

In EHM 07, I would start unemployed and look for a job in the WHL. In EA, its impossible :(
I'm curious if they will ever think of adding Jr A. (BCHL, AJHL etc) or NCAA teams are playable.

Starting unemployed.

Post by Alex the Tall »

So I always loved to start without a job in manager games... In hockey, I normally only set north-american league and I always put my self at the lowest reputation. I am playing my own self, I love hockey, I know it well, but... Sadly, I was a bad player! My problem is that now I've been doing 4 seasons in a row and I can't get any job... I apply to every CHL league, etiher in Quebec, Ontario or Western... I remember in 2007 I could find my self a job. So I was wondering... Should I start adding some european leagues to help building my self a reputation?

Thanks!

The lowest Past Experience (reputation) in game is "Rec. Player" and to me that indicates someone who wouldn't likely be hired by a team in any currently playable league in North America or overseas!...the next level up is Junior, then Minor Leaguer and Major League Professional (and then Major League All-Star and Hall of Famer).

I've seen comments by others indicating they had difficulty obtaining a job when they started unemployed too...you may want to try an unemployed game with at least "Junior" as your Past Experience

thanks....new in this game...read and watched youtube about this game. hopefully this would satisfy me (i know it would) because EA's NHL leaves a bad taste in my mouth...skipped for 2 years in a row now and probably 3rd in nhl 16.

So starting in EA as unemployed, rec reputation, full database, all leagues, Swe/Fin nationality, hidden atts, randomized information and over one and a half year later still no job. Looks pretty much impossible. ](*,)

I'd think the rec reputation is not likely to get you a pro job from starting unemployed, and may take quite awhile to get any job...

I presume you are applying for all the jobs that are available? Or at least the ones you want?

March 2019 as an Allstar applying for every job with all leagues and full database and no luck. Will try as an Hall of Famer now. If that doesnt work I will try a different nationality.

hmmmmmm yeah... I've only ever done it as a Canadian and have not tried it with EA. With 07 it usually took only a few months to at least get a major junior(CHL) job.

Yeah, in EHM2007 I always got a job in England or sometimes in the lowest finnish league even at the lowest reputation. Getting a NA job as your first one was way harder though as an European.

I also tried start my career an unemployed. a young (23-yer-old) Finnish GM with a junior career. Now it has take a year and still an unemployed. There have been some available jobs in Swedish lower league...let's see when july start there migjht open some lower league place at Finland. Maybe then..but in EHM07 i have not need to wait this long time to get first job.
