In the recent movie "Red Army" Fetisov speaks very highly of Lamoriello saying his friendship was instrumental in his decision to smash the steel curtain of hockey.

Nice game by the Flames yesterday!
Too bad that goal they refused was good though.

Exactly my thoughts. IMO it was clearly over the line but I can appreciate the evidence wasn't enough for the guys in Toronto. I'm glad it wasn't a decisive point in the end.philou21 wrote:Nice game by the Flames yesterday!Too bad that goal they refused was good though.
Gaudreau's goal was excellent.
The Wild game on the other hand was pretty dull. I can't see this going beyond Game 4.

Re: Official 2015 NHL Playoff Thread
Impossible to say guys. Puck was in the air, so when you see the white space that could just be ...air showing in behind the goal line somewhere. IT was too close to call and I believe made the right call. What is funny is a few years ago Marty Gelinas while playing for Calgary had basically the same thing happen in a game. They showed the highlight last night. Of course, Marty is an assistant with CAlgary now, so that is even weirder.
But good on the Phlegms to keep coming at the Disney boys and not pack it up and go home.

Habs lost with 1 second left in the third period. GG. God they suck against the Lightning. I have never seen a team having that much difficulty getting out of their zone.

5-0 Habs in mid second period. Second PP goal in 35 I think. I wonder what they took before the game.

IMO horrible call in the Rangers-Capitals game when they disallowed the Washington goal for "goalie interference" - I think goalies are so pampered nowadays

Re: Official 2015 NHL Playoff Thread
The call was 50-50 for me. Stepan pushed Ward yes but Ward did not tried to stop too. At that point though, the puck was already behind him and to add to that he had his view blocked. So I guess that in the end it doesn't really matter. WSH is going for the win now, wasn't expecting to see NY fall in 5 against a team like that. Anyway, alot of things can happen in 4 min.

Re: Official 2015 NHL Playoff Thread
What I noticed was Lundqvist initiated the contact, and that contact was outside the crease (i.e. outside the goalie's "area of protection")
And now the Rangers have tied it...

Yeah I noticed that too that Lundqvist was a little bit far from his net.
And yeah, called it. 4 min is alot.

That was dramatic to say the least, what a show by Holtby and Hank all game... I'm obviously biased but refs almost always disallow goals like that when Ward bumps Hank, he does nothing not to bump him, he even turned into Hank before Stepan touched him..

Re: Official 2015 NHL Playoff Thread
Why does turning in front of the goalie change something? Back or front he was blocking his view anyway. I'm not upset that the goal was refused though, still look 50-50 to me.

Re: Official 2015 NHL Playoff Thread
Turning doesn't change anything, turning into Hank does... But whatever, i understand Caps-fans being frustrated but rules are like that and refs call that for the goalie 99 times out of 100 (with #100 being Kings humping Hank during last seasons SC-Finals, yes i'm still a bit bitter)

Re: Official 2015 NHL Playoff Thread
Huh? Goalie not in his crease and player on other team has to avoid? Horrible. Plus player was pushed by goalie teammate? Horrible call. Goalie initiates contact? Horrible call ...disgusting this league. And Rags fans would be whining even more than they whine normally if it was the other way. One of the worst fan bases at separating what happened from what they see happening with their rose colored glasses. Well they rank in the top 5 anyway with Canuck fans and Laff fans.

MTL survives again. Amazing saves from both Price and Bishop in that game! Now the pressure is on Tampa for game #6.

Re: Official 2015 NHL Playoff Thread
Hank was at the top of his crease, player was pushed but he did NOTHING to avoid contact, he even wrapped his arm around Hank, the rule is really bad and should be altered, and don't put every Rangers fan into the same bucket, every fanbase is bad at separating through the tinted glasses, i don't think Rangers fanbase is among the worst, but i know how you feel about "Rags"...batdad wrote:Huh? Given how the rule is right now it really was the correct call, rule is bad though. It's like the double punishment in soccer when you tackle someone who is clear inside the box, the other team gets a penalty and you get a red card, horrible rule but that's the way it is.

Re: Official 2015 NHL Playoff Thread
Peter, oh god Peter.
Lundqvist had like only a leg that was really in his crease when Stepan pushed Ward. Two, Ward wrapped his arm around Henrik because he was PUSHED. It was that or falling completely on him. Even if Ward wasn't pushed by Stepan he was so close to Henrik and Henrik was so far from his net that the puck would've gone through anyway. Maybe you're glasses are not pink but maybe they're tinted too dark?

Re: Official 2015 NHL Playoff Thread
philou - Not sure if you misunderstood me or just read that one post. All i'm trying to say is that it's the rules that are bad, not the ruling on the ice. As the rules are now refs will make that call almost every time, i don't like it but that's just how it is. You also make it sound like Ward is some 100lbs kid that Stepan can just throw around aswell, Ward could have avoided that contact if he wanted and Hank was in his crease (albeit barely) when contact was initiated, that's all i'm trying to say here.

FYI - in what I've seen on TV from the hockey talking heads here in hockey mad Canada, and the bit I've read online, you and Lundqvist are the only ones agreeing with the call (everyone else is calling it a bad/blown call)Peter_Doherty wrote:All i'm trying to say is that it's the rules that are bad, not the ruling on the ice. From everything i've read (different forums etc) it's leaning towards good call, but it's pretty close... Most people actually seem to not even care about it tbh, haven't seen anyone except Caps-fans and batdad being angry about it.nino33 wrote:FYI - in what I've seen on TV from the hockey talking heads here in hockey mad Canada, and the bit I've read online, you and Lundqvist are the only ones agreeing with the call (everyone else is calling it a bad/blown call)Peter_Doherty wrote:All i'm trying to say is that it's the rules that are bad, not the ruling on the ice. Yeah, I was referring to broadcasters/columnists/hockey insiders/etc...I don't read the "fan forum" stuff at all. Beyond hockey simulation sites (TBL/SI and FHM) I don't read any fan commentsPeter_Doherty wrote:From everything i've read (different forums etc) it's leaning towards good call, but it's pretty close... And if you really think Batdad was angry you're still a long way from understanding what you read! HaHa
