Database Editing Question - NHL Records

Post by TehJesster »

Hey TBL! The new EHM:EA has got me back in full gear EHM mode, I love it. The thing is I'm always one for 'restarting' the NHL and playing it out as if it just formed today, its fun to see the history unfold.

My question is, how do I remove gretzky as the 'Most Points in a Season' record, etc. I've erased all trophy history, NHL champions are gone (I did team swapping to blank teams to remove their encoded history). The only thing I can't get rid of is NHL records, for the few they haev in their for the likes of Gretzky and Howe.

I want this to be empty:

Try looking in the records_config.cfg file which is located in the same folder as your DB files. You can open it in Notepad. I haven't checked, but I think this should have the records you're after.

Thank you Archi, I will try to pry in and see if I can remove them that way. Would be perfect! I'll let you know my findings.

One more question to Archi or anyone who is knowledgable enough. Now with EHM:EA is it possible to delete the records for individual teams as well? It would be a lot easier to get rid of club records and keep the 2014 rule set format rather than having to swap NHL teams with inactives in the Pre-Game Editor.

Hey TehJesster, can you tell me how to edit trophy history for the NHL and possibly other leagues. I've got the new TBL rosters, but they're missing the winners from the 13-14 season and it's really bugging me.

Thanks in advance.

You'll need to use the EHM 2007 Updater to do that.

http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 10&t=11154

Step 1: File -> Open the database

Step 2: Spreadsheet -> Create Spreadsheet Templates (I recommend Use CSV Spreadsheet, as it's a lot easier to just edit with notepad).

Step 3: Add the history you want in the comp_history_update.csv in notepad

Step 4: In the Home tab, import your new club comp history file. Save the database.

Now re-import the DB into EHM:EA and start new game.

This is how my comp_history_update.csv looks like to add the 2013-14 NHL history:

Code: Select all

Competition Name;Year;Champions;Runners Up;Third Placed;Regular Season Champions;Hosts
National Hockey League;2014;Los Angeles Kings;New York Rangers;;Boston Bruins;Los Angeles Kings

Delete the club_records.data file. Create a new textfile and rename it to club_records.dat.
Use the EHM 2007 Updater http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 88&t=13532 to load the database and save it again. This will update the index.dat file with the "new empty" records file. Voila you got empty club records.

EDIT: Remember to re-import the database in-game, to make the game read the new empty .dat files.

What other .dat files can you reset to bring league history back to nothing (ie as if starting from scratch). Can you remove Player History, Team Competition history, etc.

club_comp_history.dat - removes competition histories
club_histories.dat - removes the league histories from the club
staff_history.dat - removes player histories

I just tested those three, though it gave an error when starting new game saying staff histories had been deleted, the game was created succesfully.
So I guess you could do it with all the "history/histories/records".dat files.

Remember to backup the DB ;)

I just tried this, but never removed anything. Must be doing something wrong - I followed the same steps as above.

With the 2007 Updater - yes.

Or through the game itself - no.

In the game itself. You need to do that, before starting new game.

Load your DB using the EHM Updater (v3.0.0a) -> Click on "Data" -> Mass Edit -> Database. You'll see a number of tick boxes where you can choose what data you want to erase. It is not as thoroughly tested as I'd like yet, but it should be okay: http://1drv.ms/1bFt3Ds

Thanks. But how do I remove the Awards in the NHL history section. Which block do I click or do I have it do it manually.

Staff Competition History (I used the same terminology as the DB file names).
