Not only the Jets are stubborn with dealing. It took me both Sedins + Edler to get Forsberg from Nashville, the twins were not enough for them. Lucky enough I got lots of draft picks in reward. My choices were #12Kyle Connor, #42 Dennis Yan, #53 Filip Ahl, #62 Matthew Spencer, #70 Chaz Reddekopp, #76 Brandon Prophet, #82 Adam Musil, #100 Demott, #102 Jaros, #104 Schneider, #109 Westby, #110 Rusk, #125 Lauzon, #132 Verbeek, #134 Ratelle, #147 Baltisberger and #162 Spinozzi.

Hopefully this will provide us with enough depth over the coming years.

So, guys like Anton Rodin that are 24 for unsigned prospects you can sign right? Also I was thinking for unsigned prospects. It should be fair to sign any under 29 :(

Nope, cannot sign anyone over age of 24 by start of season. So only late October birthdays of 1990 and on can be signed. Which means the Russian is out. Not sure about Rodin's birthday but it is close.

SO yeah...in my game guess who won the draft lottery?

The FLyers

So because of the database issue, guess who gets Connor McDavid? Yeah.......you got it. Stamkos, Johnson, the triplets....and McDavid. Um wow.

My draft

12 Kyle Connor C Youngstown Phantoms off to Michigan
42 Rasmus Andersson RD Barrie Colts.
102 Brandon Prophet LD Barrie Colts. Yep..he and Rasmus paired together in junior
132 Mason Kohn C Kitchener Rangers
150 Liam Dunda LW Owen Sound Attack
152 Cody Donaghey RD Quebec Remparts

Sort of happy with the draft. Like the first 2, after that...not much I do not think. Dunda may be able to play as a tough guy.

Rodin doesn't turn 25 until November 21st, so he should be ok. Right?

Man, the trading part of this challenge could be done over and over and over again...fun (if frustrating and time consuming).

I ended up making only a few trades and just bundling as many guys as I could.

Edler to DET for X Ouellet, 1st, and 4th.

Sedin x2, Miller, Burrows to ANA for Etem, Vatanen, Friberg.

Hansen and Vrbata to SJ for Muller, 2nd, 4th, and 5th. (Think I could have got another player instead of picks here...)

Hamuis, Higgins, Bieksa to ARI for Rieder, Szwarz, Dahlbeck, and Samuelsson.

Hoping that in 2-3 years some of these will prove to be useful.

Quick Question: I forgot Richardson had to be put on waivers before being released. It's draft day and I just put him on waivers to release him. Is this alright? He's not technically released by the Draft, but is in the process of being so..Thanks!

Well I know that the exhibition season really doesn't mean much, but I just beat Anaheim 5-2. :-D

You should be good. He is on an expiring contract, but Bat can correct me if I'm wrong

Yep, finally doing my first challenge! Yay! I've tried not to read what people did for trades as I don't want to spoil my own that way. That may be stupid on my part. Ha.

Let's just say after 33 years of following the real Canucks, there's been more than a few times I've said "Blow Up The Canucks!" :D

Not sure the Richardson thing matters when you get rid of him or not to be honest.

Thanks. Figured it wouldn't matter, but didn't want to just assume.

My newly acquired Max Friberg wouldn't resign, nor would Sestito, Sanguinetti, or O'Reilly.

Now to come up with lines and watch the teams I traded all these veterans to try to sort out their ridiculous cap situations (like the Ducks and Sharks, both at $82 Million)...

So because of the database issue
What database issue are you referring to?

Two 2015 first round picks owned by Tampa instead of Flyers and I think third round pick owned by Sharks too.

How are people getting past the NTC so many Canucks have? I get so excited when a trade has been accepted, then boom! NTC.

You mean players like the twins, Bieksa and Miller? Just discipline them, give them 5-6 fines for 1 week per day over three or four days and they'll be gone

Should be enough to change their Player Status to "Not Needed" and "Are Available ...", from my experience.

Sorry mate, read through the challenge post again, you must trade away ALL your players that will be 29 at the start of next season, and those are the ONLY players you can trade... You can't trade your players that are under 28 at all....

And for the NTCs i just set their status as not needed and put them on the block, that worked with everyone except Bieksa who i had to discipline.
