Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!

Very happy with my trades. Ended up going with the Winnipeg offer for Bieksa
Arizona won the lottery and I have #12, #24, and #28. Kings won the Cup over Montreal(REVENGE) in Five Games
Draft is next!!
Big trade days before the Draft. Columbus sent William Karlsson and two 2nds to Toronto for Dion Phaneuf

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Finally the first season is over and I'm so thankful I didn't die from rage or boredom...
We had only 17 wins and in December we had a streak of losing 14 games in a row. Our goalkeepers, especially Eddie Läck, were performing poor, he had several games with a rating of 4 or even 3.
My tactics seem to be wrong from the beginning to the end, since December the morale dropped and we are permanently outshot by more than a double, no matter how I changed the Offensive style, breakouts or Neutral Zone Play. The only thing that could rescue us from repeating such a bad season could be the youth players, if they develop well in Kalamazoo or Europe.

LOL.
Game 41 WIN 3-22(SO) vs Buffalo. My PP 0-5
Game 42 WIN 4-1 vs Detroit. My PP 1-4 (Wow I scored a PP goal, already 1/3 of the way to my last quarter!!!
Game 43 WIN 4-2 Vs Edmonton. My PP 4-6. Yes you read that right. 4-6.
In 1 game I have more PP goals than I had all 2nd quarter! LOL.
In other news Jeremy Morin is ALIVE. Last 4 games 2-4-6.
Last 10 games 2-7-9
Prior to that...entire season (29 games for him as healthy scratched) 1-4-5
He is waking up....

I've started to win a few games now and Conacher is insane, 33+18 in 53 games now, scoring machine. I also brought up Jensen and he has 3+6 in 15 games.

Peter-Should have had Jensen on your roster all season. He is the Vancouver Canuck rep in the all star game for me.

Well, most guys didn't focus on getting as high draft picks as me in the trading portion of the challenge either

So Here's my drafts so far and the most impressive player I've drafted.. With honorable mentions to Kyle Connor and Daniel Vladar... Anyone else found any gems in the draft yet?
Also lost Connor for 4 months in his rookie season

It seems like in Season 3, everyone on my team has taken a huge step backwards.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
THat Jesper Lindgren appears to be able to skate alright.
So...with injuries to Kassian and Morin, and Conacher having a tough couple of games in a row (both losses) I called up Kenins and Shikaruk.... Kenins hass been up before Shinkaruk playing 1st NHL game.
Lineup for game vs Ducks (when I needed these guys)
Bartschi-Bonino-Jensen
Nelson-Schefele-Vey
Kenins-Matthias-Grenier
Shikaruk-O'Reilly-McMIllan
Figured that lineup would be a problem
Nope.
Linden Vey 2 goals (1 on PP)
Brock Nelson 1-2-3
Kenins 0-1-1
Schefele 1-1-2
O'Reilly 1-1-2 (had not had a point in 15 games)
Alex Grenier 1-0-1 (1st goal since the hat trick game way back when)
HUNTER SHINKARUK on 4th line...did not play in first period (overload and no PP) and 2nd line PP?
NIce debut bud.
1-1-2 in 10:32 ice time.
Final score VAncouver 8 Anaheim 0

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
However you all do this, seems like a miracle to me. Second season, we are 0-5-0 so far, 6 GF, 22GA and with a PK of 57,9%. Everything has dropped, every player lost at least 1 point in nearly every attribute compared to last season and nothing improved. Will be a long and lonesome season at the bottom again.
Maybe the new tactical settings will pay off

9 wins in the 3rd quarter, i'm winning too much now, going to ruin my chances to win the lottery

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
I'm 7 games into the 3rd quarter and forgot to put in my stats for the 2nd quarter. Can I just put them in for 27 games or do I finish going through the last 20 and hope that I put in the correct stats?

You have to have them from the 20 games, the other way will skew your bonus points.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Quick question. Start of the new season = 1st of July or the first game in October? O'Reilly turns 25 before that date (9-30) so he can't be resigned if the date is first game in October. Earlier in the topic someone said you can resign him, but I just ask to be sure.
Never mind:

Could you add this to the opening post batdad? It's a bit confusing if it isn't there.batdad wrote:Yeah same as PD for me. But if I leave em out of lineup more than 1 game they disappear...personal tactics that is.
As always (unless B72 says different) the start date of the new season is July 1.

Just double-checking before I do something (else) foolish. Staff hire/fires: only after July 1 of each season?

The way I read this you're allowed to sign and fire whoever you want after the 1st of July in 2015.Once July 1st comes around you're allowed to hire and fire non-playing staff freely.

I cannot add anything to any posts. Not a mod. Just an old grizzled vet. B72 posted something after that re season start....ages and when have to be a certain age etc. The re-signing of your own players was 28 years old not 25. O'Reilly is your own player and can be re-signed. AFTER THE FIRST SEASON can re-sign for ever and ever. age does not matter for that after YEAR 1.
