Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Okay so after Hunter Shinkaruk had the hot start-- when I called him up in February, I let him play 11 games before sending him back down to minors (injury returns and waiver eligible). I also want him eligible for Calder next year....
In those 11 games Hunter was 2-2-4 with only 4th line minutes (averaged 9 min per game)
April I decided to call him back up with Dorsett suspended for the rest of the year. He played our last 4 games, first two on 4th line, last 2 on third line and PP time.
What did he do?
Well....
Game 1 1-1-2 includng game winning goal.
Game 2 shut down
Game 3 0-1-1
Game 4, my 82 game of the season and the 18th or 19th time I have pulled the goalie. Hunter had opened the scoring in the first period vs Dallas, but we then fell behind 2-1 off goals from Seguin and Eakin.,,
This is my empty net line that I decide to use. (When I pull the goalie I put the same line in all 4 of my lines and on my dpairs.) the guys had not got anything done (my regulars) all year in this situation and it being game 82 I thought lets try the kids.
Shinkaruk-Rakell-Vey
Dillon-Trouba
Extra skaters: Schefele and O'Reilly (O'Reilly on the ice)
This happens:
Shinkaruk (Rakell, Vey) 58:53. Great pass from Rakell in the corner to Hunter in high slot and the on screen shot of the game shows the puck bounce practically to centre ice off the back bar.
But dang if I did not lose in the shootout.
82 games in. Off to playoffs.

I'm at the start of the 2nd season. So excited! Many guys improved greatly in the off-season, I'm pretty happy with the team. Hoping to get to playoffs this time and not to suck at PK.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Took down St Louis 4-1 in opening round
Jeremy Morin--he of the horrible start, and then somewhat of a comeback (Ended with 7.01 avg rating in reg season) and his TWELVE, yes TWELVE whole goals in the regular season (Was hoping for at least 30) ..... has 5 in our five games. He and Bonino lead the team with 6 points.
Sent Shinkaruk and Rakell back down to help Utica as they head to playoffs. Both were okay (Rakell had 3 points, but only a 6.25 avg rating in 4 games, and Shinkaruk had 0 points, but a 7 rating)

Ok I encountered the bug where your team somehow claims a player by itself
. Is it okay if I just waive and release him or what should I do in this case?
edit: IT HAPPENED TWICE WHAT THE HELL, all I did was look at the waiver wire once and read all the messages and I somehow ended up with Khudobin and Richards on my team...

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Penguins won the cup against Dallas in 6 games.
Only made one trade this offseason, sending G Eriksson to Montreal vs 2nd and 3rd round pick.
I won the lottery for the draft and selected 1st overall, and took Chychrum. Otherwise, the draft is pretty weak. I drafted Hotchkiss 31st even if he was ranked 56th, ALL my scout sees him like a 1st line project, we'll see
I'll let walk Eddie Lack because he would have been 4th string goalie, and Cory Conacher doesn't want to resign
, so he'll get free agency too.

Yes on the guy who had the player claimed that he did not do himself. Waive him and release.
*Ok Jeremy Morin...what is up? You score 12 goals in 70 some games, and the playoffs show up and you have 10 goals in 9 games? Huh?
Defeated Kings...4-0. Morin 5 goals in the 4 games.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Then this happens...

Will I be able to resign him, or it will count as an UFA signing ?

Finished like this, I'll will sign him and I'll release him if it's not ok for the challenge ! Thanks

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Hotchkiss dropped ALOT for me, i skipped on him even if my scouts wanted him for 3 or 4 picks i think. I just didn't like his mental attributes at all, if i remember correctly he was kind of small aswell?
Arbitration means he's RFA so ur fine.

That's one I haven't seen before. That's crazy! Just go ahead and waive them. If they clear, send them to the AHL.

I try to stay away from players with low mental attributes, depending on what they are. Low creativity, no problem, maybe he's just more defensive minded.

First game into season 5 and I am in 1st place. This should last until the 2nd game.

The player in question had every mental attribute except flair and bravery under 6 for me, that's a dealbreaker no matter what the scouts say for mestone169 wrote:I try to stay away from players with low mental attributes, depending on what they are. The biggest ones for me that look at are Aggression, Anticipation, Bravery, Determination, Teamwork, and Work Rate.Peter_Doherty wrote:The player in question had every mental attribute except flair and bravery under 6 for me, that's a dealbreaker no matter what the scouts say for mestone169 wrote:I try to stay away from players with low mental attributes, depending on what they are. After a second absolutely desastrous season I'm nearly at giving it up. Again we were last with only 16 wins, if it won't get better next season, I'll quit the challenge.

They don't waive after you just list them as not needed and put them on the block? everyone except Bieksa did for me and he waived after i disciplined him once.Manimal wrote:I keep getting fired when disciplining the NTC-players

Yeah, you're going to want to disable human sackings. It's in the preferences. It's almost a must for this challenge.Manimal wrote:I keep getting fired when disciplining the NTC-players

It will get better, maybe put some more time and detail into your tactics for season 3?Vadim10 wrote:After a second absolutely desastrous season I'm nearly at giving it up. Again we were last with only 16 wins, if it won't get better next season, I'll quit the challenge.

It could be worse. You could be me. I'm 15 games into season 5 and I'm right in my usual spot of dead last.Vadim10 wrote:After a second absolutely desastrous season I'm nearly at giving it up. Again we were last with only 16 wins, if it won't get better next season, I'll quit the challenge.
