How's TVR? Curious, what'd you trade to get the Schenn Bros(I see Luke is gone now) from Philly?

Well, TVR is actually a pretty decent D man.

I think I got them for a 1st, 3rd,two 4ths and a 5th round picks,(I cannot remember what year.) Stuart Percy,Roman, Polak Richard Panik, Chris Gibson, the rights for Carter Verhaeghe and Temmu Heartikanen. It's a lot but they were worth it. I ended up getting rid of Luke in a trade for Duncan Keith and due to cap problems.

How in the name of all things holy does a Luke Schenn-Duncan Keith trade help your salary cap? Or was it a Hawk cap issue? Cause that is the ultimate rip off in EHM.

I sent along two other guys as well, at about two mill each. So in the end, I offloaded 3,000,000,$ of salary.

Have had multiple trades be accepted for Franzen but they keep falling through due to the no trade clause.
I have disciplined him multiple times and he has requested to be moved but will not waive, any other ideas?

No matter what you do with him he will not waive it if he doesn't want to. In the Approach to trade screen the NTC reads (NTC) he will eaive his clause for the team you try to trade him to

Just went through each team and none of them had a (NTC) beside his name on the trade screen.
What is the best way to limit salary implications, release or negotiate buyout?

Keep on discipline, lower his status to not needed, discipline some more, and hope his team mates do not get mad.

Well my Board finally has come around to be just OK with things now, though they want me to get rid of John Gibson still. I dunno' what more those cretins want from me though, having been 1st Overall in the league for some time now.

In other news, I saw a first. The Minnesota Wild fired a coach only 9 games in to his tenure (he went 4-4-1). That has to be by far the quickest hook I have ever seen a coach given, and I would not have thought it possible. Both the Wild and Avalanche are just burning through coaches like crazy though...

Waive him or buy him out. Discipline for no reason with 1 week fine over and over. Do not know what else to tell you. Never seen a situation where they do not waive at some point.

Just went through first season as the islanders. Tavares with just 49 points in 69 games, disappointed me. Taking a closer look, only 4 ppg players on the season, 2 at 82 points through 82 games, and Crosby won the Ross with just 98 points, only player over 80s. Stamkos tops with just 45 goals. Looking at team stats, only 13 teams over 200 GF, highest being just 228 with the Blackhawks. Only 6 teams with more than 209.

Pretty cool season, if disappointing. My star didn't shine and I didn't make the playoffs.

I am about to start the 2036-37 season on my original save. I've been sort of waiting for the right feeling to come on me to start a new save, so that I can play with all the updates and everything, but I just can't stop playing with this team. "I CAN'T QUIT YOU!" But then I had an interesting idea - I'm going after the Canadiens' all-time record of Cups. I've won 14 with the Flyers (and should have more, but the Tiger Williams computer cheated me a few times), bringing my total to 16. That leaves me 8 shy of Montreal, as they haven't won it all in my save. (I just beat them in the most recent Wales Conference Finals - I was sweating bullets). I've already got about as high a record as I can for the regular season: most points (156), most wins (77), most goals (403). It's going to be nigh on impossible to top those wins and points, and the goals could be difficult to better as well unless I just give up on defense and go hell for leather, which I don't want to do.

482 hours. I possibly need to get a life :joy:

Mind posting the Flyers history? How'd the Big 4 do(Morin, Hagg, Sanheim. Ghost)? Or did you use default rosters?

Hagg was the only one who was a complete bust, but that was my fault more than anything. I brought them all up pretty early after tanking the first season and trading away darn near half the team. In fact, I imagine it may have been half the team, and nearly every defender outside of our big 4 prospects + Alt. Hagg wasn't up for it that early and I wasn't being that careful with him and he busted out.

Sanheim was the really disappointing one and I don't think that was my fault. I was extremely careful with him, watching his minutes and making sure he was paired with someone decent and not overworked. He would show signs of breaking out occasionally, but never put it all together, nowhere near where I think he will in real life. I held onto him for absolutely as long as I could, but I got rid after about four or five seasons because my roster and prospects were bursting at that point. I think, like Couturier, his underlying numbers in the database are nowhere near as high as they should be - you and I know that in real life he is a stud, but the computer doesn't realize it.

Morin was pretty decent - he never really put up notable numbers and wasn't much of an offensive threat, but he was very much a regular NHL 2nd-pairing defenseman. Once I started challenging for the title, he was not out of place at all. I have been making sure since the beginning that I stockpile as many draft picks as I can every year - I don't like dealing with the cap because I am beyond miserable at math, but when you start getting really good, you have to move guys you would rather keep just to make room for the (cheaper, better) youngsters. I drafted Hanifin the first year (and McDavid), and in the 2016 draft I got the #1 pick who was a guy called Kale Clague, who was (and still is, at age 38) and absolute monster - and he was on my third pairing for God knows how long because I was so deep. So I had Clague, Hanifin, and Ghost and more on the way and eventually I had to ship Morin for picks. He commanded a good price and went on to play well for Detroit and maybe Montreal for a bit - I'm not sure about his final numbers, but he was probably around a 7 average with low but not embarrassing offensive output.

Ghost was the one, though. I had (and do have IRL) absolute faith in the kid and he never let me down. I handled him gently for the first season, keeping him in Lehigh Valley for the whole season (I think) and then brought him up. His very last season he played with Winnipeg, and only because I had to wait to try to sign him after he became UFA at age 38 or 39 and I messed up the contract offer. In between then, he was an absolute beast. His average rating must have been somewhere around 7.5 or more for his career. He was incredibly consistent and only got hurt for several months one season - outside of that, not even little niggling injuries or anything. He put up good points every season. His morale was never an issue and he was my assistant captain after a few seasons (I had Giroux, and then McDavid as my captains). He won the Norris in 2021 and 2030, Lady Byng in 2021, Plus-Minus Award in 2033, Hart Trophy in 2030, and I think he won 12 Stanley Cups. He was without a doubt one of the very best players in the league during that entire time. I paired him with Hanifin for years and years, so he was quite free to bomb away - I'm not sure if that actually helped or not, but that was my thinking. The funny thing is that he never got any respect from my scouts, who were the best around, and never really got approached by other teams to trade - he was really, REALLY top-notch, but he just kind of floated under the radar a bit. It was weird, but I wasn't complaining, other than the fact that he should have won more awards than he did.

Sanheim is very good in real life, but STUD....like Shea Theodore is a bit too high praise for him. Going to be a decent #2 or very good #3 guy at best. Glad to hear though that Ghost turned out in a game, as he has not in any game I have used him. MOrin has been a stud for me, and Hagg has busted each and every time.

Sanheim has only ever become a 5-6 for me, so I agree that he would need a boost, just feel that your praise for him is a bit too high. He is not a stud. He is just a very solid capable two way guy. Not Karlsson, not Weber, not Josi and not Theodore. Seabrook....more of a comparison.

You are probably right, but considering the defensemen we have had recently, it's understandable if we get a bit excited

Yes..except you are setting yourself up like a Leaf fan. For disappointment. I feel bad for kids like Travis whose fan base in this time of the team who is the best team is the team with the best prospects who have not played a game for them being hyped beyond belief and come in to the team and have nowhere to go but the land of disappointment.

This to me wrecks way too many a guys career. A non Flyer example? Nicklas Jensen Vancouver-projected as a 2-3 line guy, so a tweener in 2-3 lines. Scores a couple goals in junior after drafted and 1st year in AHL scores a few on a bad team. Now 2 years later scores a few goals for Van at the end of a HORRIBLE season on a HORRIBLE team wth Torts as coach.

All of thse things have had Vancouver fans thinking he is the third twin. He is not. He is a 2-3 line guy, and may not be able to play either role effectively. But right from the get go because he scored a few goals for bad teams people think....oohhh he gonna be a good goal scorer. He is not.

THis is happening all too much.

But back on topic: I AM THE CANUCKS IN EHM RIGHT NOW.

Pens 2nd season with new updates. Signed Belesky, Sill and Jurco (wouldn't resign with wings got him from rfa half August). Also signed loads of undrafted youngsters cause the Pens are short on youth. Managed to trade for Soderberg (Bruins put him on the block). I hope I can get to 2nd round at least with a defense containing 3 players under 22 lol.

Plan is to trade at deadline for some more youth to get this team back in shape. Kunitz, Duper, Scuderi and Martin are all gone so that's a start.

Not a chance, mate, I'm not that naive. I get excited when they are prospects and I look forward to them developing and seeing how they do, but once they pull on the sweater I am right behind them and just want them to contribute to the team. Leafs fans are insane and hilarious - I'm much more calm than that.

I think the Big 4 are all -14(90-160), if I'm not mistaken. I think they should be -8(130-160)
