Tierney is pretty bad but I hadn't given him anything better than 3rd line play. He'll be getting his chance soon, along with Burmistrov.Peter_Doherty wrote:Hey b72, how is Tierney doing for you? Edit: I like your trade with Kings, it does leave you vulnerable down the middle though, hopefully someone steps up for you

I'm on the finish lane of season 4, Crouse doing well with the club, but Marner is still in Utica and doesn't seam to be NHL-ready :SPeter_Doherty wrote:Look at the standings for season 1, almost everyone was having rough seasonsismael8 wrote:OMG my team suck right now ... after 20 games i'm 13th in Western ... but my future look bright hahaha
Kuznetsov,Bukarovsky,Marner,Crouse,Griffith, but I really need to improve my defense
Crouse looks really good in my game, i also drafted Marner and he's a slow one. I'm in season 3 and he's atleast 2 seasons away from NHL.

I just got offered a deal from the Oilers. Apparently, they really want Bartschi. They've offered Klefbom, Rasmus Andersson, Alec Martinez, and their 1st and 3rd round picks for Bartschi and the rights to Nick Merkley. Of course, I can't do this deal but it's interesting.

I'm only in season one (home stretch) but that sounds like my Tierney. 17-39-56, 7.56 in 52 games in Utica, 2-3-5, 6.13 in 16 in Vancouver. Hopefully I get the b72 version in the future...Peter_Doherty wrote:Hey b72, how is Tierney doing for you? Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
After a few disgusting losses in a row, Markstrom pulls out a 2 (!!) rating, gets fined, accepts it, then posts a 5 rating. Time for Eriksson to jump in. Cleared all lines and started fresh.
Eriksson wins his first game making 23/24 saves. Bartschi has a 5 point night. Vey gets 3. Wonder if this'll last.
There's actually a lot of incentive for those of us getting crushed in the early years to play on for a few more years to salvage this challenge. Hoping I can find the time to get to seasons 4 and 5 to get some of my draftees in here.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
So here is my trades. Not the most value in the long run but pretty decent to fill out the roster.
http://i787.photobucket.com/albums/yy15 ... hot519.gif
Probable lineup:
Lehner
Markström
Dillon - Tanev
Stanton - Sbisa
Lindbohm - Weber
Nelson - Bonino - Conacher
Girgensons - Scheifele - Saad
Bärtschi - Grigorenko - Vey
Foligno - Acton - Kassian
My draft:
12 Mitchell Marner
42 Rasmus Andersson
81 Nate Murphy
99 Kevin Spinozzi
102 Andrew Mangiapane
132 Cody Donaghey
142 Kord Pankewicz
150 Jay Merkley
162 Jack Herbert
172 Les Potter
Didn't at all go as plan, the player I wanted was always taken right before my picks. Went more with personality traits that raw skill.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
I've been looking for an upgrade on Dylan Olsen the entire season, trying to make deals for every young shutdown D-man in the league, finally i found one that i was happy with
Sent Dylan Olsen and Derek Dorsett to Islanders for Griffin Reinhart, similar player but Reinhart is just better and most importantly, he can skate. I tried so hard to get either McCabe or Zadorov out of Sabres but they wanted nothing to do with it
Working on another deal aswell, we'll see if that works out.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Season 3 is done. For me it was the most successful but at the same time the most frustrating season somehow.
Presidents Trophy again. Art Ross for McDavid. Won my first Cup in the EHM:EA, yay! In the finals fought against Tampa second year in a row, 4-2 in the series. At some point lost Bartschi and Mantha to injuries (for 22 and 27 games). Lindgren is a beast. And so on...
But still I don't really feel good. First of all because I don't know WHY I'm winning or losing. In the Football Manager I can pretty easily see on the field what my opponent is doing and where are my tactical weaknesses. I just can't see the same way in EHM. It's so frustrating.
First half of the season was harsh. We lost our powerplay, some teams had fun with us. And always a ton of shorthanded goals allowed.
I stopped and tried to analyze. And there was some pattern. There are several teams that gave us a really hard time. Flames, Stars, Oilers, Sharks, Lightning. I looked at their Head Coaches and saw that everyone of them had preferred style "direct attacking" or just "attacking". And in the games every time there was the same pattern: they hit us a lot, they have more boardplays won, they shoot much less but they score more. So our goalies have really terrible ratings against them. So at the last third of the season I tried to counter that and added a second tactic to my arsenal. I redid the default "Physical defensive". Tried to play more conservative against this kind of teams. And I think it worked. Q4 record is insane. And we played Flames (3 times), Oilers (2 times) and Sharks (2 times). But maybe it was just a lucky random streak.
But I still don't understand why it worked. And I hate that.
Ok, maybe I'll finish my challenge right here after the Cup win, but I don't know.

One thing i love about this team is that we win almost every single Shoot-out, with Bärtschi, Jensen, Shinkaruk, Bonino, Conacher and Weber we are amazing at penalties.

I'm exited. This will be my first challenge. Quick question: How do I take screenshots in the game?

The computer ate my season 1 write up: The short version. Lost a lot (last place), need D depth so I'll try to trade for one and use the top pick (or #2) on one. Hopefully the forwards develop!

Finally 6 games in my players jumped up to 100%. I really think I lost two close games because of the bug...

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
Ouch. THat hurts Visual.
Had TIerney in my test game--terrible, let him walk.
Bonino--Would not re sign for me but with Scheifele and Rakell, plus Horvat and Vey (able to play there for me fairly well) and others on the rise like Connor I just decided to let him walk. Never was getting what I wanted value wise for him when I tried to move him.
This game is cruel. But the Canucks and shootouts are scary good yes I agree PD. I think I may have lost 1 in my 2 seasons out of 10-12.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
17 games in and in 8th spot despite that buggy start. Can't complained about anything really!
My team is performing really well and I have four productive lines. Kassian and Girgensons is lethal on the PK and racking up points on the PK. Saad, Bärtschi are scoring at 1p/g rate. Lehner is currently the top goalie in the league, good since both Läck and Markström sucks brutal. Tanev has been a huge dissapointment so far bringing me nearly nothing except minus stats.

Re: Challenge #37 Discussion - Blowing Up The Canucks!
I am not sure it is a bug. Had that happen to me once in EHM 2007. Realized it was because my coaching staff was too hard on them.
It was in junior mind you not pro hockey.

So the rules say in the beginnign you cant trade for future picks: But can i trade for picks when the season si over, i mena onyl for the current draft of course. Also in future years can i onyl trade for Players udner 24 or is thsi ruela slo jsut for the first year? Traded Bonino for a 1st after season 1 jsut before draft and may have made my save invalid for comeption by this, not that i was any good.

First off, please check your spelling before you press submit, a spelling error here and there fine, but that was almost impossible to read.
To answer what i think is your questions. Yes, you can always trade for picks in the next draft, you just can't trade for picks in future drafts. And yes, the 24 or under limit is always there, the entire challenge.

I said too much too soon. Just after I wrote that last thing Scheifele broke his leg and is gone for 4 months and since then my team went 2-4, 0-4 and 0-6. ](./images/smilies/wallbash.gif)

I can't trade some of the players because of no-trade clauses.
