Bamak is quite rigtht. We discussed these things in the past actually, and we decided to use the KHL teams just using "oblast" instead of "region". I actually already changed it. I will also change "Automobilist" to "Avtomobilist" (I forgot to do it, but it will be done). Translating names isn't an option, playing a game between "Metallurgist" and "Petrolchemist" would be redicolous. Or very funny. Regarding Jokerit - we will use the "Finnish" version.
I'll change the few short names remaining and also will address the rest of the stuff Bamak posted.

Erik Foley seems to be quite well ranked in regards to this years draft.
If he has been reported on previously, then I apologise.
I don't see him in TBL 7.3.....thanks for posting!
I'm not sure if we have a researcher for the USHL, but I think we have an NCAA researcher (eliteprospects shows him going to Providence College for 2015-16)
I only found him after looking at my Hockey News draft guide, I think a few other guys that are in the guide aren't in the db. If I have the time, I will check their top 100 prospects and post those who are missing.

These are all the guys in the Hockey news top 100 prospects, will any work be done on some of the prospects post draft? I ask because some of the guys that are highly touted seem to be quite bad in game. Is that random ability??

Thanks for doing these rosters. If I may add a couple of things,

Dustin Jeffrey & Daniel Winnik shoot left. In the game they're right-handed.

Keegan Kanzig is in fact 6'7" instead of 6'5".

As you probably know, at the end of this season in real life, Robyn Regehr announced his retirement. I don't know how you'd handle this in-game, though (maybe enter a fake birthdate so that he's older in the game than he actually is?).

Doug MacLean and Mike Keenan should probably be retired from the NHL as GM's, but the AI is determined to hire them.

I'd suggest some tweaks to some of the older players speed, as it seems quite a few players become irrelevant too quickly. Iginla Doan Jagr etc should all be able to hold a roster spot in the nhl for a few seasons.

Yes, draftees will get updated post-draft. Whenever we move to the 15-16 season players will (hopefully) fit the league they're in. For example, Eichel and McDavid will probably be in the NHL and we'll make sure they have the ability.

Some of those guys you mentioned has been created since release, but we'll make sure the other ones get added

All done. Regarding names, I did some corrections, but some other corrections haven't been made, I think the way they are in the DB right now are the best, or the less worst in some cases.

I noticed most of the Norwegian team names are wrong:

Norwegian GET-Ligaen
IF Frisk-Asker to Frisk Asker
Kongsvinger IL to Kongsvinger Knights
IHK Sparta Sarpsborg to Sparta Warriors
Stavanger IK to Stavanger Oilers
Storhamar IL to Storhamar Dragons
Vålerenga IF to Vålerenga Ishockey

I may be a bit biased, and I apologize if you aren't taking requests for player upgrades, but I think Travis Sanheim, Sam Morin, and Shayne Gostisbehere deserve some potential boosts.

I agree on Sanheim, i've seen both Morin and Ghost become good though and neither of them have the ceiling of a top d-man so they are quite OK imo. Maybe a slight boost on them but nothing major.

Morin has an outside shot of becoming a #1, but will more than likely become a #2/#3. Gostisbehere could become a #2, but will most likely become a #3/#4 who can QB a PP. I'm pretty good in term if developing players, and both of them will probably tap out as bottom pairing defenseman in my game. In fact, Gostisbehere is more of a fringe NHLer.

:dunno:

Sanheim hasn't amounted to much. More than likely just a good AHLer, who will eventually head to Europe

If they tapped out as bottom pairing not developing them much. AI develops them both into 3-4 guys, and Ghost becomes very good. Attributes do not necessarily show it but their ratings and stats certainly do. Morin becomes a top pair shut down guy, and Sanheim becomes a 4-5 dman. Again Attributes do not necessairly show it, but they perform well in every game I have seen. Morin especially. Ghost too, then Sanheim.

Also...and this is the big one. THey likely have a variable PA (one of the negative numbers) because they are so young. As they play a bit more and guys get to know them a bit more...they will have things adjusted. Young guys almost always have variable PAs in the game. Because you never know for sure.

Finally--I have cautioned many a Leaf and CAnuck and Ranger fan on this. Do not just look at HF Boards prospect ratings and say....wow these guys are great. Do not just listen to the team spout off about their prospects and say...wow these guys are great. Do not just listen to the media spout off about them and say..wow these guys are great.

Why? BEcause great means different things to different people. Pierre McGuire says every 5-8 dman prospect in the world is great. McKenzie says only 1-2 dmen prospects are great. Toronto media says only Leafs prospects are great. You have to watch and watch and watch and be able to compare outside the bubble of the team these guys are on. THEY DO NOT NECESSARILY NEED A BOOST AT THIS TIME. They are what they are 3-4 and 5-6 dmen prospects. And they are all capable of getting there in the game (in spite of how their attributes look)

Too many people who play EHM rely solely on how attributes look. They do not realize what is behind the game. There is more to it than whether a guy has an 18 slapshot. THere is no simpler way to tell this than by looking at your AGM Report. He tells you that the hardest shot on your team is some guy with a 15 slapshot, yet you have another with a 19 in the rating. Well...why is that? Must be some other reason.

He tells you Sanheim is the most underrated player on your roster and you do not use him because his attributes suck. Well give the guy a chance.

Any way...point is they likely have variable PAs and I do not think (if I recall from previous discussion on these 3) that they need to have a higher negative PA becuase...that would make them turn out too good too many times for what they will be.

Yeah, i've seen both Ghost and Morin as solid 3-4 guys in the game and i think you overrate their ceiling tbf. As i said, maybe a slight boost on them but not a big one. Morins problem is the game not liking big defensive D-men, not his attributes and/or CA/PA imo.

Sanheim i agree with though, he will probably be a good #2-3 guy with an outside shot at becoming a #1.

batdad - Agree with most there, it's not just this fanbase or that fanbase though, every fanbase overrates their prospects, especially on HF where a 2nd rounder > a good roster player.

Morin's PA is -8 (130-160 rare, top prospect with a good chance of being a talented NHL player)
Gostisbehere's PA is -14 (90-160)
Sanheim's PA is -14 (90-160)

Sanheim should be -8 instead of -14 otherwise that looks fine, his attributes should probably be tweaked aswell but i trust the roster team on that :)

Edit: RJ8812 - Maybe you just didn't develop them well, ever thought of that? :)

Edit2: LOL, just now noticed that i went past 1000 posts :o

SOrry gang. I think those numbers are bang on. In 1/10 games are all three of them going to get to 160 or higher, in 3/10 two of them will and in most all 3 will be third pairing dmen. I think that is about right.

MOrin is the better of the three. Sanheim gets alot of press but really he is going to when is at his best be a 3-4 guy. Maybe.

PD--Those three fan bases have a rep for it. Even on HF Boards they get bashed for it. OThers overrate as well but they do not spout off as much. Been reading about it for years years and years. Some Ranger fans still think that big tall centre they drafted in the first round 10 years ago is going to make it. :-D

But Yes they all overrate, just some more so, and the three that are at the top of my mind for doing so were mentioned.

I think Sanheim has had a good enough season to warrant getting bumped to -8 though but seriously those players are close to where they should be.

Haven't been reading hf for years so can't comment on that, i just see that most fanbases are just as bad. Just that the teams with more fans on the site obviously will have more moronic fans, i think the % of moronic fans are the same. I mostly read hf for Rangers-info or comic relief, reading a bernmeister trade proposal always makes me laugh :)

We don't need to draft big tall centers, we just steal Hayes from Hawks instead ;)

I stand by my ratings I did for those youngsters a year ago..

Complaining about them a year later is nice. 8-)

They were accurate, Sanheim has had a great season though :P One thing now that i have your ear (eyes), Hanifins biggest asset is his skating, in the game he looks more like a stay at home big d-man. He is the best skating D-man in the draft along with Kylington, they fly on the ice.

Yeah he had a great season in junior for sure. But..I totally agree with CJ above. Lots of people have good seasons in junior...also look at who was playing around him. Some pretty darned good players. Travis is rated well, as you said.

Hi guys, Love the work that gets done on the roster updates each year. I only wish I could commit the time needed and handle the inevitable questioning of your ratings to help out more. You researchers are heroes!
I know that the need to adjust prospects in line with the games new approach to development has been covered but one area that hadn't been mentioned from what I can see is College hockey. I'll confess that living in the UK I don't really get to see much of it but being a Tampa Bay fan I do appriciate the importance of the college system for fleshing out your roster (JT Brown, Andrej Sustr to name a couple). Every year we hear about College free agents as well and the competition to sign them but it doesn't feel like that has translated in to the game at the minute. Some of this years "big" names, Bailey, Kero, O'Connor etc either don't exist or don't appear able to reach the levels mentioned in the press releases or future watch reports on them you see in the real world.
Again, I appreciate that my inability to put my money where my mouth is and actually assist in evaluating these guys makes my query seem unfair but it was just an area of the game I was hoping might be being addressed ahead of the latest update.
Thanks again for the hard work put in by all those that contribute to these great updates.

These college free agents, when they are not drafted do not look exactly like they do now. We had noone working thg NCAA for us for some time. Now we do...and they will get things up to speed in that league. But the last time NCAA was worked on was what 5 years ago? And none of the players you mention even looked like players then. Now they do, and will be rerated as much as we feel they deserve.
