Post by nickflyers »

Figure I'll take a stab at this since I mucked up the Nucks challenge.

EHM:EA
TBL EHM07 7.3 w/ changes(Flyers draft picks in right spot, potential updates for Sanheim, Morin, Gostisbehere, and Hagg to -15)
I'll strickly be GM'ing the team, Monthly Updates and Offseason reports.
Expect this to go the distance

Ron Hextall Steps Down as Flyers GM Due to Personal Reasons, Flyers Hire N.Ritt
Sept, 7th, 2014 - Another shake up is coming for the Flyers Front Office as GM Ron Hextall announced that he would be stepping down as Flyers General Manager and announced that his apprentice, Nicholas Ritt would be taking the reigns as GM. "Ritt has been around me for years between LA and Philly and knows the what it'll take to handle this job." Fans were shocked to hear that Hextall was stepping down after a huge culture shift was underway, gone were the days of spending money on aging free agents. The Flyers prospect pool is proof of this. "Ron and I have discussed it and I have no plans to change the way we run this club. We're building from within, that's what it takes to win in this day and age. We can't use our wealth to buy championships. Smart drafting and patience will see us winning a Stanley Cup. It won't be this season or even the next, but we will be a competitive team again, I promise." Ritt told the Media.

GM Ritt's first order of business was firing Head Coach Craig Berube and finding a new coach. Rumors have the Flyers interested in Former Tampa Bay coach Guy Boucher and Clint Malarchuk as front runners for the Head Coaching job.

Start Of 2014-15 Season Report

First few weeks of my tenure were busy to say the least. We were able to hire Guy Boucher as our Head Coach, along with Joel Otto(AC), Chris Pryor(AGM), Inge Hammarstrom(SC), Darwin Bennett(SC), Jay Leach(AC), and Clint Malarchuk(AC) to fill out our staff. Mark Greig and Jack McIlhargey were the only two scouts we released.

Training Camp was successful, offered Trevor Lewis a try-out, but he didn't impress us. The kids all improved with Nicolas Aube-Kubel making the most of the camp. We'll definitely keep an eye on him. Scouts all love him, comparing him to Kyle Turris and Mikko Koivu. I see great things for him if he keeps it up. Erik Gustafsson agreed to come back to Philadelphia, but that won't be till the end of the Regular Season. We went 3-3 during the pre-season with the youngsters mostly playing.

Transaction wise, I managed to move Nicklas Grossmann to Arizona for Minnesota's 2015 3rd Round pick and I've been on the phone about RJ and Vincent. Had a deal in place with Nashville for Gabriel Bourque, but Lecavalier wouldn't waive his NTC. The Grossmann trade gives us three 3rd round picks and I'll push for more picks. Easiest way we can rebuild.

Andrew MacDonald
RJ Umberger
Vincent Lecavalier

Opening Night Lineup

Simmonds-Giroux(#9 C)-Voracek(#6 RW)

October 2014 Report

Pretty successful month for the Flyers. We went 5-5-0 and managed to make three more transactions. Vincent Lecavalier agreed to waive his NTC to go to Montreal for Nathan Beaulieu and we sent RJ Umberger to Nashville for Gabriel Bourque. We also claimed Greg Campbell of waivers from Boston and he's been holding down the 4th line.

Giroux and Voracek are leading the team with 15 and 12 points, respectively with Raffl/Simmonds splitting time with them. We have only one injury Wayne Simmonds, Day-to-Day with Olecranon bursitis, but we did lose Del Zotto for about a week with a skate bite. Still trying to get rid of MacDonald, but no one's really biting(Not surprised with that albatross of a contract, maybe around the deadline)

The Phantoms are 1-5-1 and only have Terry Murray as a Coach so I'm going to intervene in that and correct that issue.

Nov-Dec Report

So we're sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Division, three points ahead of Buffalo, the fans want my head, Couturier isn't playing very well and injuries hit Sanheim and Gustafsson and took them out for 2 and 5 months respectively. Other than that Oskar Lindblom is the only prospect named to a U20 team. Things are Sunny in Philadelphia
Still trying to move MacDonald and probably anyone over 30 during the Trade Deadline

END OF SEASON
*No pictures, on watch right now*

Managed to rid myself of Andrew MacDonald and Nick Schultz and that seemed to spark the team as we started climbing out of the basement and scrap together a 37-40-5 record good for 14th in the East. Brandon Manning took the opportunity to become a solid defender and even chip in 1G, 19A and a 6.89AVR. Sean Couturier(12G-30A-6.48AVR) and Brayden Schenn(11G-24A-6.40) both had disappointing seasons as they flipped between the 2nd and 3rd line center positions. Michael Raffl(37-40-7.20) and Jason Akeson(20-20-6.98) were impressive to say the least.

TEAM LEADERS
Goals: Jakub Voracek(45)
Assists: Claude Giroux(48)
Points: Jakub Voracek(79)
AVR: Jakub Voracek(7.64)

Transactions:
Traded Andrew MacDonald to WPG for 2015 2nd Round Pick
Traded Nick Schultz to DAL for Julius Honka

Third time is the charm

Decent offseason

Managed to sign Zbynek Michalek(2yrs/$7M), Manny Malhotra, Mark Letestu, Daniel Paille, and managed to get Eric Gelinas from New Jersey with a 5yr/$11M offer sheet. Also managed to sign Anthony Duclair as an unsigned prospect

Traded Colaiacovo and Bartley to Nashville for Max Gortz, Austin Watson and a 4th Rounder.

Starting Lineup

Raffl-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Couturier-Simmonds
Bourque-Watson-Read
Letestu-Malhotra-Paille

Gelinas-Del Zotto
Michalek-Streit
Gudas-Schenn

Mason-Stolarz

AHL

Leier-Laughton-Duclair
Straka-Cousins-Gortz

Gus-Manning
Ghost-Lauridsen
Hagg-Petersson

with Morin and Alt as scratches. Morin is my 1st call up and may see the NHL soon.

Rough start to the season hampered by multiple injuries. Mason and Giroux were injured for half the month. Only made one trade and that was sending Oliver Lauridsen to Vancouver for Brandan Gaunce. In excellent news, the Phantoms are killing the AHL with a 6-0-3 record led by Gortz, Juuso Ikonen(4th rounder) and the Gus/Ghost tandem. Nikolas Brouillard was sent back to Quebec since he wasn't getting any playing time in Leigh Valley. My son is taking over as Phantoms GM and firing that rubbish coach they have.
