Budget is above the cap I believe, and I don't have a lot of high contracts in reserve (mostly youth on 2 way contracts as well). It seems fixed at that amount though regardless of success, which is a shame when they're paying dividends out and good players are coming up. Maybe boards aren't dynamic though?
What is the board like? (attributes for them may tell you whether they are cheap or not)
Well it's Arizona so probably cheap as ****. Old habits and all that... Do you need the editor to check board attributes?

There is an option in the Board Confidence window to ask for extra money. If you have been doing well and team finances are good then they should probably agree. Might be enough to help you get the top guys.

If you were me, the Islanders, would you give up:

3rd Rd Pick
7th Rd Pick
Rights to Ilya Sorokin

to get Petr Mrazek?

I'm not happy with the goaltending situation after Halak and I think Mrazek has the potential to start and be a good goalie going forward. Thoughts?

Thanks, I'll try that. I sent a few youth players back to juniors since they were sitting on first team and traded Marners 1.6 mil contract. All of that freed up 500k, which initially I wasn't too happy about but Crosby had no interest from elsewhere, lowered his demands slightly and we managed an agreement with a massive signing on fee.

Well unfortunately that option is greyed out as the board believe I have plenty of money! (I've never actually seen it available). I'm 16 mil under my player budget and struggling to offer good contracts, even to younger players listed as 'core' players I'm being limited below what they want.

I see that problem a lot in AHL. My AHL team's balance can be 2-10m dollars and I have plenty of space in player budget, but the board will only allow for like 15 000 dollars per year for contracts. Same when trying to hire coaches, scouts etc. My targeted assistant wants 16 000 a year, but I can offer only 14 000. So they will not spend that extra 2000 even when I have millions to spend. So maybe not related to teams financial state. Just wondering.

How can I lose 2 million dollars right before a game? I'm over the cap so I can't play the game but I have no immediate options to help this even for just this game. What can I do, I'm a bit more than 2 million over the cap?

Place a player on waivers and send down to AHL, and then that contract won't count against the cap.

Hi, I am new in this game (about one week) - I have little problem with goals. Team goal diff is just +2 with 49/47 in 19 games and I hope this team (photo) should score more goals than 49 in 19 games, like every game i win or lose game with 1 or 2 goal diff (or in SO) - 12-4-3 and 7th place in East. Conf.
I tried everything (like my own tactics - personal/team/unit, 'ask coach' tactics, default tactics a just some kind of 'random clicking' tactics) but every tactic don't make any progress

- so, can someone write any 'tips and tricks', his tactics, different lineup sets or some link on tactics? - Thanks for every answer! (and sorry for my bad engish :-) )

Well your d-corp is all defense, I doubt Chabot is ready for NHL but you should try looking for a top 4 defenseman who can move the puck. I'd put a forward on the point during PP and keep Karlson and Chabot (if you keep him) Your 4th line is meh, Neil shouldn't be a regular and Legwand has never been good in my games I would look for a new C and a new LW. I also really like rolling 4 lines so I'd put equal time for your forwards and spread the talent a bit if some lines are much better than another, don't be afraid to put good players in your 4th line if you use equal time. Also not sure how Da Costa is but I doubt he's really NHL ready in year 1

I need a bit of advice.

Post by StormCloudsGathering »

So, i'm in 2018-19, with a potential Stanley cup victory at my hands and almost certainly a presidents trophy win.
But I've got a problem. I don't know what to do to manage my future.
So in saying this, i'll post my lines and a quick description of each line, and who I should get rid of, if anyone.

Domi-Stamkos-Benn
My power line - all joined the team the same year from free agency. T'was the year I won the cup
S.Bennet - Nugent-Hopkins - Hertl
All players here from the beginning, youngest line I have, fit for first line duty
Svechnikov (5th overall bust) - Riley Nash - Fast
Again, a fairly young line, Though Nash is 29.
Bollig - Dove-McFalls - Lindell
Bollig, the veteran along with two promising prospects - Lindell being projected to be a more talented version of Crosby (Got him in a super-one sided trade for Jakob Silferberg,) and Dove-McFalls, a year one draft who turned out to be the second coming of Gaudreau, being a 6th round pick.

DEFENSE
Lindholm - Shattenkirk
The best D-Pair in the leasgue, averaging 65 points each a year, while keeping the puck out of the net.
Chychrun (I'll get to him later) - Carrick
A Mix of insane offensive talent in Chychrun and solid defense in Carrick
Andrei Markov - Zadorov
A Very defensively minded 3rd pairing, with my favourite defensive prospect and and old veteran who's very underrated.

Lundqvist - Macdonald
Solid 1-2 punch, MacDonald can fill in for Lundqvist when he retires. (Lundqvist has a NTC)

I said I would get to Chychrun, so I will. I was 14th worst in the league, but was on the rise and expected to make the playoffs next year.
I won the draft lottery and got Chychrun. He's possibly the next coming of Mark Giordano or Drew doughty - He got 45 points in his second year with the team. I would be willing to enhance his role to the first line.

I bet you can see my problem. Cap. With all these insane players, and young overachieving rookies, i'm going to have cap problems eventually... hell, Stamkos and Lundqvist make up 20mil a year together.
Being the best team, i've had stuff to trade away... and i have. I have a average to above average prospect pool, and my team is rich in youthful leadership.
So... what should I do. I can probably send the save and have you assess it even more if you wish, but go ahead and say what you can from what i've shown you.

*Edit I'm actually paying Stamkos 14.8 mil per year.

Markov gets old very quickly in my games, maybe you can trade him/release to FA this year and pay your decent prospects long term with average salary, they sometimes accept and become good players on a cheap contract (something like Pacioretty at ~4M IRL)

He's already "very old" His physical attributes arn't too good, he's 39... but in saying that, 15 games in on my bottom 6 pairing he has 6 assists and a goal. So he's proven himself, he stays for now.
I traded Svechnikov for Zach Kassian right before I saw your message. We'll see how he does.
Also keep in mind i'm 5 years in.

How is his defensive game? hits,TA,GA,SB, avr rating. He may be feeded by your stacked offense. How is Kassian doing in your game?

Kasian seems like the right choice... one goal, in four games... but i'll have to see. Slow sim - I have alot enabled.
Markov has... 10 GW 3 TW 12 SB and 25 hits in 19 games. I see what you mean... but his contract is only for this year, and it's a small under 2mil contract.

Hi! I've ran into a major problem with my 07. I've allready won finnish, swedish, russian and german leagues, as well as olympics, world cup and world championchip. But now, in 2023-2024 season in nhl my 1st center is unhappy because he thinks that the referees in nhl are victimising him. His last 4 seasons playing for capitals have been 115,116,122 and 120pts. Should i trade him away, as i usually do when someone gets unhappy or just wait if the problem goes away?

That happens from time to time, but it usually goes away in a week or few. So I wouldn't worry about it.

Put him in the block. He will turn "Unknown about his future". Then take him off the block -> Happy to stay.

Yeah, I can't recall EHM 07, but in EA it always goes away on it's own. :dunno:

And again the season ended for caps in the conference finals. But he's no more unhappy. But the season went better than expected, i won the cup with my other team Dallas stars, 1st season of team rebuild, having control of it for 3,5seasons. 1st line scored total 340pts on regular season and 119pts on playoffs. Now im wondering what to do, my purpose was to go gming back in Finland and get tappara back to the elite league and retire after winning the cup. But now they've fallen to finnish lover leagues and are unmanageable.

Hi guys, I have question about comp's rosters in my game. I play EHM 2007, 3.0.4 and 2014-15 TBL roster v7.2. My team's are Sharks and Worcester. It's ok, I set roster, players, tactics, and everything is right. But in game against Oilers I saw, that Oilers played only with 9 forwards and 4 defensemen. Oilers roster spots of 4th line and 3rd defense was empty. Finally I look on Oilers general roster screen, and this condition is permanently, no only in game against my Sharks. Guys like Nugent-Hopkins, Yakupov etc. not play match's, because they are not dressed. They played only pre-season games. So, I check other team's and same problem is for example with Avalanche, Panthers and Bruins.
All this teams have normal staff, head coach, normal numbers of players, no roster's restriction etc. So, why they play regular season games with incomplete roster? It's really unfair situation and I thinking about scratch my actually carrier with Sharks. Finally it's wrong, because I work on Sharks tactics really hard, and I think I start change team's defense system to better condition. And now finish with it, and start new game? :-D

I've been playing with the wings and I cannot for the life of me get them going at all. Starting out I can't ever get them to .500. I'm currently 4-11-2 (after a few restarts) and I'm stumped. I'm newer to the game, played 05 a lot but never 07. I've read (as far as I can find) everything I can for tactics and still can't even get to .500. Here's my line (Datsyuk is out the first 2 months)

Tatar-Zetterberg-Nyquist
Pulkkinen-Larkin-Abdelkader
Helm-Glendening-Miller
Sheahan-Richards-Jurco

Ericsson-Kronwall
DeKeyser-Green
Smith-Quincey
