This game is amazing. I'm at 5 straight president trophies and cups with the Oilers, and have more blue chip prospects than I know what to do with. Only thing I've had trouble finding is an elite goalie, but I've done fine with Vasilevsky.

So my first 2 seasons with the Coyotes have gone as poorly as I anticipated they would, but I think I'm primed for success this year. It also helps that I was able to get Stammer in FA.

I've tried everything, but the top goalies are all older and untouchable on their respective teams. Goalie development seems harder to predict than skaters too. I have some good prospects coming along but I think they'll cap out as average-good starters.deknegt wrote:Congrats on your success man, hopefully I can get thereMcDreamy wrote:This game is amazing. I traded a couple depth players and a pick for a rookie LW who scored me 107 points on my top line, so I'm hoping I can find a trade like that again. Every now and then you'll find a team that undervalues an amazing young player, just need to constantly be looking. I am slightly obsessed with youth on my team, but I now realize you need a balance if only to manage your cap. I'm waiting for a bunch of guys to finish their ELC's because I'm stuck at the cap floor.
Can't believe all those disappointing years I wasted playing the lame GM modes in EA games not knowing this existed. Love the depth to this game, just needs some minor tweaking in terms of searching for stats, players, and leagues(imo), and it is perfect.

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
So just finished my first season with EHM:EA, started out with the Kelowna Rockets. Good team with some good players.
As expected I was strong in the WHL, coming in second overall (first in the west). Sweeped my first two series against Portland and Seattle before winning 4-2 and 4-2 against Everett and Kootenay to win the President's Cup!
Afterwards thrown into the Memorial Cup, and after losing my first group game against Plymouth we came back with an overtime win against Breton, a 3-2 win against Guelph to still qualify. Faced Breton on the semi finals, and won 4-3 in overtime again!
Final was against Plymouth once more, but this time we took it home with a 4-2 win, with Josh Morrissey the defender getting a hattrick!
Needless to say, there's not much that we could've improved upon in my first season. But when you've won one cup, you want to win a second
But as expected, most of the core group has been picked up by the NHL. (Draisatl, Morrissey, Bowey, Wheaton, Goulbourne, Olsen)... So yeah, the team is definitely quite a bit weaker from that NHL pillage-fest...
So I went into the draft knowing I needed quite a few players that could help me out in the future. Naturally the WHL draft would be all about next season and the one after, but it's still good to find decent talent... Naturally do to being the champion I had late picks.
Of course, do to my extreme scouting almost all of the players have been rated 5* by my head scout, so hopefully that means I will have an army of great players in the coming few season.
In the later rounds as the quality dwindled I started to focus on finding great mentality players, hard workers and ''model pro's'' who might become diamonds in the rough and be polished into serviceable players.
Finally, Kelowna didn't have a 1st round pick so I didn't have the super great talents at my disposal...

Of course, since I only drafted 2 people in the Import Draft, i'll show them instead of links
R1-#59: RW/LW Igor Kabanov 3*/5*

He's a offense-only winger who seems to have loads of talent on offense. That's why I got him first and foremost, to provide a deadly wing presence to the team. His physicals are decent, his strength/balance/bravery are dissapointing since he's 6ft5! But ah well, when you're one of the last to take a pick in the first round most of the clear-cut talents have been taken, and I didn't want to take a gamble on the ones that had NHL interest and the rest skipped. I think he'll score a lot of points, but he'll need to be carried on defense... Still glad though, he looks lethal as a winger.
R2-#119: LD/RD Luka Zorko No stars?

He isn't Mr. Irrelevant of the draft, but he's close to being one. Really this low there was barely any great talent to pick from that were interested in going to Canada. So I looked for the biggest and meanest looking defender there was, he's like the polar opposite of Kabanov, he's also 6ft5, but he's at least better physically. His work rate and teamwork make me worry, so I hope him being a tank on skates will help despite his laziness...
I am signing both of them to the team, because I can really use both of them to bolster my defense and offense in my second season
That is my very lengthy and info-dumpy season and draft review.
If people wanna see more stuff, ask and i'll make pictures

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
I'm aproaching New Year in my third season with the Red Wings. The first two seasons we made the play-offs, followed by first round exits against Tampa Bay and Montreal. I'm trying to keep the culture of the franchise in order, so we rely heavily on good drafting and development of our prospects. We did make our first big free agent signing this off-season though, signing Steven Stamkos to a 5y/49mil contract.
Current lines;
Tatar Stamkos Nyquist
Panarin Sheahan Jurco
Zetterberg Datsyuk Frk
Anathasiou Glendening Nastasiuk
Smith Green
Dumba Dekeyser
Kronwall Klingberg
Mrazek and Howard get even splits this season, Mrazek will probably take over as a fulltime number one next season
We've still got Werenski, Griffin Reinhart, Petan, Barzal, Mantha etc in junior/Grand Rapids

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
Well, after the Flyers slumped dead last for like the third season in a row. They sacked their then GM, feeling the plight of my favourite team being bottom feeders I applied, and I got the job!
There were a lot of stupid stupid players on the roster that had no right being there. E.g. Vinny LeCavalier in AHL! and the entire roster was a complete mess... Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds were still kicking around and being the best part of the team, but it was in real dire straights as the previous GM had widdled off Luke Schenn and chased him off to the Swedish Leagues.
Well, no more, none of that rubbish. Post-draft I got my head down and started to trade, sign, and release the team into some semblance of something that might be able to reach the playoffs immediately.
Players out:

One player not listed, Trevor Cox to NJD for Cammalleri.
Players in:

Not listed, Braydon Coburn and Luke Schenn
- Draisaitl I coached in my first Kelowna season, and I liked him, good player. Oilers had traded him to the Predators, and Nashville let his contract go to RFA.. I offered him the rights of Laughton and Gustafsson to get his rights and give him a 4 year 9,3M deal. He's no Giroux, but can become a good if not great 2nd/3rd line playmaker in a few years.
- Cammalleri was very much a wage dump for the Devils, he's 35 years and set to earn 10M over the next 2 seasons. I needed a guy on the left wing that could shoot, so for rights and a scrub winger I got a good player for that role. Still got 9M wage left to spend!
- Ben Lovejoy, third line defender who got a 1 year 1.5M contract so that the kids can have some more time to get better.
- Like I said earlier, Luke Schenn had been left to rot in the AHL during 15/16 season and let go to UFA, played a year for Frolunda. But I brought him back so the Schenn's can play together again.
- Braydon Coburn was had been playing for the Canucks, but they wanted him gone. Gave them Stolarz for him. Steal of a get, and it brings Coburn back home!
Roster:

- Voracek and Giroux are freaking gods and I will never EVER let them go. They'll truly have to pry them out of my cold dead hands, I will never give those two up because they're the heart and soul of this Flyers team.
- Andersson played his rookie season last season, but it wasn't impressive, I feel a year in the AHL will be better for him.
- No idea why Bleackley is rated above Bishop, Bishop is better and a better fit for 4th line. It will be his rookie season.
- Marner had 2 seasons, but just like Andersson they've been average at best. Amazing physical skills, when his technical side catches up he'll probably challenge Simmonds for the 2nd line.
- Brincat is my biggest talent right now, and during training camp he was amazing. But I rather see him use his final year in the OHL so that he gets all possible junior experience, let him dominate the Juniors and next season he'll have a big chance to make the cut. Disgustingly good at scoring, but his defense is non-existent. Think Tarasenko with a Chara slapshot.
- Steve Mason is my #1 goalie, and he will stay so as long as he continues performing. Has been 90% despite Flyers bottom feeding, so this season will finally have him not having to be hercules every night.
- Jack Campbell has a 3 year 10.5M contract, and he has all the talent to become a great goalie. He's played in Germany, Switzerland, and the AHL in the past three years and has been dominant in all of them. Goalie for the future, and deserves more than backup duty, but I won't trade him. I won't send him down either because he's outgrown the AHL.
Season expectations: Playoffs and getting as far as possible.

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
I just dumped off all of my good for nothing prospects and some draft picks for 2 great prospects.
To Montreal: 3 AHL players, Thomas Novak (draft bust/4th liner), 2023 2nd and 2024 4th round picks
To Columbus: Tim Foligno, who is currently dominating college hockey and led team USA to a WJC gold medal the past two years. At 19 he's already better than most of my AHL guys and he's supposed to get a lot better.
To Detroit: 2 AHL players, Toby Lane (big 24 year old defenseman, draft bust), Jake Gardiner (playing horribly on my bottom pairing) and a 2025 3rd round pick.
To Columbus: Jackson Waugh. Waugh is also a 19 year old with a super bright future. He was put into Detroit's lineup straight out of the draft and is doing quite well so far in his rookie year. I'm going to send him into the AHL for the rest of the season because there's no point in stunting his development playing limited minutes on the 3rd pairing.
Both the board and the fans were furious with this second trade and I'm not sure why. My assistant GM didn't want me to trade Toby Lane which confused me. Lane is really high on the team report depth chart and he still has "future 1st pairing dman potential", but he honestly sucks. I drafted him almost 6 years ago and he's yet to play a game in the NHL. He's 23 years old picking up a 6.63 rating in the AHL, and the people are mad that I traded him and some scraps for an amazing prospect??
Tl;dr
I traded 5 AHL players, 2 draft busts, 3 picks, and a benchwarmer for two future superstars in two different trades. My fans were apparently attached to one of the draft busts so I was criticized for my good work.

I've had the same problem. Offloaded Bournival because he didn't pan out well after I traded for him, fans got widdled. Traded scrubs for Josh Ho-Sang. Fans got widdled. They're always widdled, they're never happy, I stopped worrying about their opinions a long time ago.hockey17jp wrote:I just dumped off all of my good for nothing prospects and some draft picks for 2 great prospects.

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
I just pulled off an 82-0-0 season LOL
I had:
Jenner (112 points) - Eichel (75 points) - Matthews (124 points)
Johnson (114 points) - Johansen (84 points) - Nyquist (106 points)
as my top six. Bobrovsky went crazy and put up a 1.67 GAA, 930% svg season, and Letang and Ryan Murray both had over 50 assists.
I used the all out barrage shooting tactics and scored around 3-5 goals per game, while Bob only let up around 1-2. The result was an undefeated season. I haven't lost a game since last year's playoff quarterfinals.

Did you use the RED Playmove Barrage tactic? Because I can't win for Adam Oates with the Flyers using that onehockey17jp wrote:I just pulled off an 82-0-0 season LOL

Wheelin' Dealin' Devils
I have finally taken the plunge into this game and I am loving it. I've made some pretty major changes and some big moves. Kevin Constantine is my head coach.. I tanked pretty badly in the first season and could not secure the #1 pick in the lottery. Oh well. Eichel has actually turned out better than McDavid did. Anyway, in my second season as GM (I dont coach any games just sim them) I squeaked into the playoffs.
I wheeled and dealt a number of draft picks to move myself up. I was dealing 2nd and third round packages with 1st round picks to move up a couple spots here and there, and then traded down in the first round to 24 and back up to 21... It was a fun draft. Here's what I ended up with:
#2 - Jake Eichel C
#6 - Timo Meier RW (still in Halifax)
#15 - Noah Hanifin D
#21 - Zach Werenski D (Playing in Albany)
I've also got Mason McDonald developing in Juniors as well..
Now, in my third season I've still got a ton of cap room so I made a few moves. Travis Zajac has been traded for one, and I chose not to resign Elias.
Here's where I stand right now with my lineup:
1st Line:
LW - Reid Boucher (29-32-61 in 2015-16)
C - Jake Eichel (19-39-58 in 2015-16) Calder Memorial Trophy winner
RW - Nail Yakupov (44-33-77 in 2015-16) Traded to Devils by the Oilers for Andy Greene, Rights to Mitchell Stephens, and a 1st Round Pick
2nd Line:
LW - Mike Cammalleri (28-24-52 in 2015-16)
C - Adam Henrique (15-19-34 in 2015-16)
RW - Craig Smith (15-22-37 for Nashville in 2015-16) Traded to Devils by the Predators for Valentin Zykov, and rights to Nathan Noel
3rd Line (checking):
LW - Sean Bergenheim (6-5-11 in 2015-16) Signed as a free agent in the 2015 off-season
C - Zemgus Girgensons (4-8-12 for Buffalo 2015-16) Traded to Devils by the Sabres with Cody Hodgson and a 2nd Round Pick in 2017 for Travis Zajac, Damon Severson, and a 3rd Round 2018 pick
RW - Chris Stewart (15-22-37 in 2015-16) Signed as a free agent in the 2015 off-season
4th Line:
LW - Ivan Barbashev (NHL Rookie) Traded to Devils by the Blues for the rights to Jacob Larsson
C - Cody Hodgson (11-27-28 for Buffalo in 2015-16) Traded to Devils by the Sabres with Zemgus Girgensons and a 2nd Round Pick in 2017 for Travis Zajac, Damon Severson, and a 3rd Round 2018 pick
RW - Erik Condra (11-11-22 in 2015-16) Signed as a free agent in the 2015 off-season
1st D Pairing:
LD - Keith Yandle (10-47-57 for the Rangers in 2015-16) Signed as a free agent in the 2016 off-season
RD - Mike Green (3-44-47 in 2015-16) Signed as a free agent in the 2015 off-season
2nd D Pairing:
LD - Noah Hanifin (0-17-17 in 2015-16) Drafted #15 by the Devils
RD - Jon Merrill (0-31-31 in 2015-16)
3rd D Pairing:
LD - Chris Butler (3-22-25 in 2015-16) Signed as a free agent in the 2015 off-season
RD - Adam Larsson (2-15-17 in 2015-16)
G1 - Cory Schneider (30-25-11 in 2015-16)

I can't say I've seen Hanifin and Werenski go that low, good for you.

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
I'm at the close of season 3 with my Coyotes. 1 and 2 went expectedly poorly. Last in 14-15, and second to last in 15-16 although there was a 10 point improvement, everybody else improved too. Got McDavid with the first in the 2015 draft and Cordell Brenton with the 2nd overall in 2016. The first 2 years pretty much consisted of wheeling and dealing to get rid of the old core and make a new one and develop the talent that was already in the system. Picked up Stamkos in free agency before this season. This season I came in 5th in the West, bouncing between 1st and 5th place all season before going on a little cold streak which let the top 4 separate from me. Now going into a round 1 series with the Kings with Neuvirth out, injured on the last day of the season, so now I rely on Grubauer to get me through a few games before Neuvirth gets healthy.
I also want to throw in the the Pirates (AHL affiliate) are ridiculously good at this point. Ended up at 131 points with 119 goals conceded, with Mark Visentin sporting a 1.33 GAA and .938 save percentage. I'm planning to have him be my starter next season and offload Neuvirth.

Stamkos sat in free agency for my league too. I actually offered him one year at 4.5M just to see what happened. He ended up signing with Columbus for 1 year 7.8M after the season started.

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
Very interested in your post SkierP20.
My 14/15 Devils have just finished bottom of the East and 3rd last overall. I was expecting a tough season but I was at least hoping to stay close to the play off race until the trade deadline and then take a view on what I was doing. Didn't work out like that at all. I lost Cory Schneider for 4 months with a UCL tear which didn't help.
I have achieved much of what I needed to in terms of setting the foundation for the future. Gone are the old, expensive and underperforming Ryder, Havlat, Clowe, Zubrus, and Ruutu. In are the much younger Connor Murhpy (D; ARZ), Justin Fontaine (RW; MIN), Boone Jenner (C; CBJ), Brian Little (C; WPG) and Michael Frolik (RW; WPG). Salvador, Bernier and Tootoo are out of contract this summer and will be on their way too. Frolik was a pending UFA when I picked him up at the deadline and I was intending to extend him if I saw some evidence that he could be a 20-25 goal scorer over a full season. In the end he put up only 1+1 in 20+ games. He was useful in shoot outs though. I might still extend him just to have a tradeable asset at the draft. I'm planning next season's line-up without him anyway.
I go into the 2015 draft with a 1st, three 2nds, four 3rds and six 4ths. I'll have 14 picks through the top 120. The farm and prospect system is so poor that it's tempting just to use them all to re-stock, although I'll be open to packaging picks and moving up. Finishing 3rd last, I'll be out of the McDavid / Eichel hunt, but I'll be in the mix for Hanafin, Werenski, Strome, Marner etc.
Winnipeg have managed to stockpile six 1st round picks already! I'll definitely be making enquiries there, but excluding people I want to keep to build around I don't think I have much that'll be of interest to them.

It pretty much came down to that nobody could afford his demands of ~11 mil per then he settled for my ~8 mil per. Thinking of trading him this offseason, moving Bjugstad to the first line and finally giving McDavid his slot in the NHL as he's been in Erie since I drafted him.SkierP20 wrote:Stamkos sat in free agency for my league too. Is it finally possible to start unemployed with the least reputation and find job? I tried many time and I couldn't find any jobs... I like to start low and make my way to the NHL and win the cup

Season 22-23 Jyp got relegated from Mestis to Suomi-Sarja and Jyp-Akatemia was one win away from the promotional games, would have been funny if the farm team had been the team to drop the bigger team. Season 23-24 they will play in the same league

Pretty sure managers without American/Canadian nationality will still find it extremely hard to find jobs even if they have great reputation. I personally 'fix' it by taking Canadian as my secondary nationality, it kinda works since there's a lot of Dutch ancestry in the Poutine loving Canada.Alex the Tall wrote:Is it finally possible to start unemployed with the least reputation and find job? So Midway through my 15th season and i find that it still unfortunately is to easy to build a dynasty.

I've even implemented only resigning RFA's and 1 UFA, no FA pickups, No 1st round picks. Does anyone have any tips to make it more difficult.
