Getting loan players in QMJL

Post by Francois Tremblay »

I've been trying to play as QMJL teams lately, and I've noticed that most teams have loan players from NHL teams. I just can't figure out how you can find those players. Is there any way to see which players you can loan? What leagues would they be in?

NHL teams reassing players to juniors. Players that doesn't make the teams, but can't be sent to AHL.

If your team has any possible ones to be reassigned to you then they are listed amongst your unsigned prospects.

You mean the ones in green on the team report? I already know about that. I'm talking about finding players to loan from NHL teams.

You can only get the ones you have rights to.
You can trade for players that other QNJHL teams have rights to but you can't make the NHL teams assign the players. It is up to them

No no, I want to know how to make player loans. Do players even get assigned to the QMJL?

Like, when I check players in blue on rosters, they say "On loan from Calgary" or "On loan from Pittsburgh." That sort of thing. I have two of them that I started with, but I have no idea how to get any more of them.

Let's say you have a player on your team that is 'On loan from Calgary'. They are on loan to you from Calgary because:

1. Calgary signed them to a contract.
2. The player was not good enough to stick with Calgary.
3. The player was too young to send to one of their affiliates so they sent the player in question back to the junior team that holds his rights.
4. You are the junior team that holds the player's rights.

That is the only way that you can get a player 'loaned' to your team.

The only way to get more is to trade for them from other teams.

Oh okay. So I need to draft them beforehand, is what you're saying? If they're not already on my extended roster, I can't get a loan for them?

That's right; you will only get players assigned to you from NHL teams where you hold their rights (eg because you obtained their rights in the draft).

Although EHM describes it as on loan, they're not actually on loan. It's just that their NHL team has decided to send that player back to the juniors.
