Tactics Guide or sth like that?

Post by hansomreiste »

Hi guys,

Maybe this is too "basic" but I am really lost in this game. The thing is, I am from a country where ice hockey is almost non-existent. I regularly watch KHL and occasionally NHL but as you may guess, I am totally ZERO when it comes to tactics. I just know the basics like what lines do, how many players you have, which position does what etc...

I'm fond of football so I regularly play FM as well, where I can be successful since I know my way around. In EHM, it's really difficult. I am doing something but I feel as though I have literally %0 effect on team.

Is there any detailed explanation of tactics for dummies? I am not asking for a game guide or pre-set winning tactics... I just want to learn things and be competent to work around by myself.

Line changes are just too fast. For example, I am trailing by 2 goals... What am I to do? Players don't seem to be mattering much because as I said, they change every 30 seconds. Formation change is also out of option, as the scheme should always be like D-D-RW-C-LW. The players come in and go out, goals are scored and conceded and I am just like, "LOL what do I do now?" :-D Ice hockey is not like football. In football, when trailing by two goals, I can bring in another forward and set my game plan accordingly but in ice hockey it feels impossible for me.

I don't regret having bought the game at all - even if I can't do anything, I am glad to have contributed to this beautiful game. But I still wish I could be able to play it properly. Any kind of help, from guides to simple steps, would be appreciated.

Welcome to TBL! And welcome to the wonderful world of hockey!

Have you looked at the PDF Manual that come with the game?
There are some Guides for older versions of EHM that I think you'll find helpful: there's the EHM05 Guide http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/wiki/inde ... 2005_Guide and the EHM07 Guide http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/wiki/inde ... 2007_Guide

The Players Attributes Guides explains the Attributes http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/wiki/inde ... s:_Players
And there's a Practice Guide http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/wiki/inde ... tice_Guide

And a few threads that cover same basics are the TBL Tactics Thread http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... &start=450 the TBL PowerPlay/PenaltyKilling thread http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... &start=150 and the TBL Practice Thread http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... &start=400

The Game Knowledge thread (where the above 3 Threads can be found) is the first place to look for answers to gameplay questions http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=17
