Is it WAD that I can't change contract length for staff?

I'm looking to hire a few free agent staff members, and both assistant coach candidates demand six-year contracts. I seem to be unable to change the duration of the contract offer, is it just me failing or game working as designed?

Sometimes you just can't change it. Not sure why. I'm just confirming that it does happen, have no idea if that's how it's supposed to be.

Fortunately staff, other than the head coach, can be pretty much fired at your will. So you can just terminate their contract if you don't want them for the full six years. At least I've never experienced any consequences from firing an assistant coach or a scout mid-contract.

You used to be able to change the contract length when hiring/renewing. I started a new game and so far I can't change any when signing them it's always fixed length. I think it might be a bug as I can't see why you wouldn't be able to change this like you can with player contracts and since it used to work. :dunno:

Not sure it matters though as staff can be fired whenever you want and the staff budget is separate from players. It seems impossible to hit any caps for it and if your team is losing money overall they just get a cash injection, no need to worry about making money or being profitable.
I've always just given staff what they want if there's nobody better available, it just would be nice to have longer contracts so I don't have to renew them all the time.
