Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
After long time with EHM 07 I start my first career in EHM 1. Game is generally better than old manager. But whats happened with dificullty?
I started with my Slovan Bratislava in KHL and its pure disaster
...In first 10 games of season I win only 1 (1-8-0-1) Just, Slovan is OK team (f.e. former NHLers Lubo Visnovsky, Cam Barker, Laco Nagy, Surovy, Garnett) and in real KHL hockey is in 7 - 10 conference. So, new manager is too difficult for tactics, roster management etc IMO... I think, its very sensitive and komplex now, and if is something wrong, team not winning. Very good change.
Second, reality. Finances in my team are little bit higher (cca. 8M euro in game, in reality its only 6M), but KHL clubs in my game made only very decent trades and UFA signes. Russian teams mainly russian, swedish and czech players. Nothing unrealistic. I signed Brenden Morrow - yea, this is out o reality, because this type of players dont prefer Europe after NHL career. Finally, I try make trade from real hockey (Filip Novak, Slovan to Francis Paré, Traktor) and game said yes. So good
...I really love this new EHM.

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
Started a game as Hull Pirates. The EPL is a fun league. The quality of the Brits and the 4 imports its always fun managing the funds and the rebuilding a new team each year. On 07 I absolutely dominated with Bracknell after 4 years because I had sure a huge budget I just couldn't be stoppedmarksbros6 wrote:Not that anyone is aware of the UK leagues, but quite enjoying my first save with Milton Keynes Lightning. All the players seem to be a bit more individual (perhaps thats the player-roles) and I'm just enjoying juggling the lines and enjoying the up-to-date roster.
I coach all the games and have managed the odd comeback win leaving training to my head-coach at the moment, finding that there are no easy games with this data (apart from Hull that is, and even they have been stubborn to break down).
Mainly using:
Luomala/Tahtinen/Chamberlain
Hook/Emersic/Cownie
Jarolin/Carr/Watkins
(all on 'Equal' minutes)
Johnson/McPherson/Billing
(given ice-time if we are ahead)
Griffin/Christie
Farn/Clements
Knaggs/Jaimeson
Green/
Though sometimes put out an all 'import' line of Jarolin/Tahtinen/Luomala if we're chasing a game.
Going to try to develop Glenn Billing as he's caught my imagination scoring in a few games of late.

The NIHL North 1/2 has promotion/relegation whereas the South does not. If you want to start in the NIHL North 2 (aka the Laidler Conference) then there is the opportunity to be promoted to Division 1. Coventry and Bradford are the weakest teams IRL (but the league needs some re-rating in game). Deeside and Nottingham are the strongest two teams.Kopi wrote:quick question...is in UK promotion/relegation system? Thinking of starting a save at N2...

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
I'm kind of frustrated right now LOL. Not only is the new slower game speed bothering me, but all of my star players are playing poorly right now. For the last few seasons my stars have had no trouble scoring at a PPG rate, but this year I only have 1 guy at a PPG and he just got injured for a month.
I guess on the bright side the new roster update just came out so I might start a new GM mode and see where it takes me.

That's right. There's no other promotion/relegation in the UK.Kopi wrote:ah ok, so as much as you can go is from N2 to N1?archibalduk wrote:The NIHL North 1/2 has promotion/relegation whereas the South does not. Should I start unemployed or is it still a bug? If so, then what is the worst team to start in EHM? I want to use it as a way of "working up" to the NHL level

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
I just had a nail biter of a playoff as the Capitals, 2025-26. Sweeped the Pens in the first round, then game sevens all around, until the Stanley. New jersey, Tampa, Vancouver. Phew!
Team wise, not much left of the original Caps. I still have Holtby in goal, Schmidt, Carlson, Niskanen, Orlov, Burakovsky and Vrana. All other original Caps are long gone. I'm in a very good situation with youngsters though. My last season was a disaster, finished second to last in the East, which landed me with first pick in 2024, and a very good forward called Nicholas Mast, who was able to step in immediately and scored 50+37=87 points in his first season. That with some other cheap high scoring producers stepping up after some oldies retiring, I was able to bring Stanley for a tour of the DC area. Stanley likes it, but he feels there's too many white buildings.

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
I am playing the bruins.
My first season I missed the playoffs because as a new player to the game I had no clue what I was doing. The biggest things I did was trade for FiIlip Forsberg and Victor Rask since I really wanted those players in my team.
The season didn't start all that bad and Marchand scored a lot of goals! Unfortunately he was injured in late december and after that everything went downhill.
Second season was my best one! Forsberg started doing work together with Bergeron and Eriksson and I got to the conference finals before getting knocked out by the Capitals that won the cup.
Third season I was haunted by injuries on all my star players. Especially an injury on Rask in the net really hurt the team. I wa sknocked out in the second round of the playoffs and Capitals won another Stanley Cup.
My drafts from the previous season Tanner Kaspick and Alexander True dominated the ECHL though getting first and second place for points in the ECHL and got the ECHL win for Atlanta. I have high hopes for them now!
Chara retired
My defenseman Torey Krug ended the regular season with the most assists in the entire league! And the most points for all D.
Summer before my fourth season now. Board now has hopes for me to be a serious Stanley cup contender.
I think Forsberg and Bergeron are good enough for my first line but I think I need another good forward for that line as well as 2 more good defensemen if I am going to have a good chance at getting further.

Playing for Sabres with 1992-93 DB:
After 24 games leading NHL with 18-6-0, 100:61 despite losing Andreychuk for two months after first game
Pat Lafontaine leading whole league in scoring - 24g+23a, AvR 8.79 - during last 15 games he recorded 10 multipoint games - 6pts against Ottawa, 4 points against Boston and Atlanta, 3 points against Toronto and Rangers
Behind him - Mogilny 19+23, Khmylev 14+20, Doug Bodger 6+23
Made a few trades mainly for picks, shipped out Viave, Puppa, Ledyard, Donnelly, Tanti, Gage, brought in Tinordi, Slegr and Malakhov.

What do you guys think about getting Stamkos from RFA in 2016? I just signed him as Toronto after a poor 1st season, and I got him for $9M pr. year, which I was quite satisfied with. But he cost me FOUR 1st round picks!
Is Stamkos worth four 1st rounders or should I have approached the deal in another way?

To be perfectly honest, I didn't know the compensation rules that well, so I didn't expect it to be quite as expensive. Anyway, will be fun building a team around Stamkos and trying to recover some 1st rounders along the way.

I'm going crazy!
After ending 2 seasons in a row at top of the league in the regular season I have gotten knocked out in the second round of playoffs both times. Last year Tuuka Rask got injured 2 games into the playoffs and this time I had 5 injured forwards when the playoffs started. I don't know if I'm causing this somehow? Do I need better physio staff or do I need to change my practise during the playoffs? I'm not sure but what I do know is that I won't afford to keep the team I have for another year since all my key players want bigger contracts

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
The thing with playoffs is, you need to be more aware with your tactics than in the regular season. During the playoffs you play a minimum of four games in a row against the same opponent, and they will quickly learn your tactic and counter any advantage you might have by making their own changes, and if you don't keep up with that, you're going to be knocked out. I usually make a change every time I lose just one game. That doesn't always bring a win in the next game, but at least it'll counter the adjustment the AI made against me... hopefully.NorthernLights wrote:I'm going crazy!![]()

As for physios, I really never keep anyone who has a below 20 in their Physiotherapy attribute -- at least not with my NHL team. And always have three (the maximum number) of them. Other than that, not much you can do. Except maybe in terms of not exhausting your players with too much ice time, or practice, during the regular season. The Condition indicator, I don't think, doesn't really reflect the players' fatigue that well. I think it's more of an indicator of match day fitness -- is he okay to get on the ice today -- not so much of the player's general fitness or fatigue in terms of keeping up with the demands of the whole season. Well, that's my own observation at least.

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
Also, injuries like that happen, when you overuse your players. I find that if I give a guy all 82 games (and this is any player) and play him on the top line, or 2nd line, and the top pp or 2nd unit or pk....he gets hurt at the end of the season, or during the playoffs, when I want that star player to play more minutes.
For goalies if I play them more than 3 games in a row in regular season, or in back to back games, or if I give them 65 plus games...injured end of year or in playoffs.
I only ever play a guy all 82 games...if
1. I am lucky and he does not get injured or suspended.
2. HE is on the verge of a milestone. (or scoring championship of some kind)
3. I am battling another team for a playoff spot, or positioning in the standings.

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
2020/2021 season
After a third year in a row of good results I finally got a Stanley up win!

Season started by me getting Urho Vaakanainen from the red wings in a trade for Joe Morrow and Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson. Mainly did this to free up salary but he played incredibly well from the start.
Dropped some high salary players around 20 games into the season and signed both Crosby and Ovechkin as free agents. They played well but didn't really carry the team alone in the regular season. Urho Vaakanainen and Filip Forsberg produced the most points for my team but I feel like the whole team contributed instead of just the star players. Played my rookies William Fällström, Oliver Wahlstrom, Alexander True and Gabe Vilardi for most of the seasons and they they got ranks 2, 3, 6 and 15 in points for rookie skaters.
Beat Red Wings, Canadiens, Maple Leafs and finally the Coyotes on my way to the Stanley Cup win. Ovechkin and Crosyby really played big roles in the playoffs.

Here are my lines if anyone is interested:

As someone who has just started as Florida...is Matheson actually that good? As in good enough to be on the top pairing? Solid line up though. If Grimaldi becomes a 2nd liner for me I'd be extremely happy.saberhagen83 wrote:Florida Panthers 2019/20

I just finished second season as the Maple Leafs, and surprisingly, I ended third in the Atlantic Division and went to the playoffs. I lost 4-1 to the Penguins in 1st round, but it was still a very good season in the middle of a rebuilding process.
The highlight of the season were my three prospects Marner, Nylander and Leipsic, who were simply incredible. Marner won the Calder Memorial and Nylander turned the 50 point mark. Also, Stamkos won the Art Ross Trophy after a fantastic first season with the franchise.
My lines were:
James van Riemsdyk - Steven Stamkos - Mitch Marner
Nazer Kadri - William Nylander - Mark Arcobello
Brendan Leipsic - Tyler Bozak - P.A. Parenteau
Morgan Reilly - Philip Larsen
Dion Phaneuf - Connor Murphy
Matt Hunwick - Jake Gardiner
James Reimer - Jon Bernier
For the third season, I am looking to strengthen my defence. Bernier was already sold for some picks and Malcolm Subban, but I still need 1-2 good goalies. I am currently looking at signing Andrei Vasilevsky from RFA, but I will probably need a better short-term first choice to replace Reimer, who have not been good enough. Furthermore, I will bring in my 2016 1st pick Alex Dibrincat (how do you pronounce that?) for the 2nd line and possibly look to sign 1-2 quality D-men.

Re: How's it going in EHM:EA? What team are you?
Hi guys. I am new to EHM and to hockey generally , but i love it. I am a football fan(to americans i am soccer fan).
I've played all football manager games ,so this game interface is not new to me. Also i know the rules in hockey and some basics , but i am far away from knowing the game and players
My favorite team is Anaheim Ducks and i started a new game with them . Being not so "in the know" with this game , i read a lot i found that The Slapshot tactic is really good for the new players to the game , so i downloaded it and play with it on my save. The thing is while i am learning the game , i do conside too much goals (average 3 per game). And i do get a mixed result like i win 3 in a row ,than lose 5 in a row and again...
I want to ask for some help , to understand the game and hockey in general.
So my question are :
1 Does this Slapshot tactic works for you all ?
2 In which line do i put my best players (1st , 2nd ,3rd or 4th) ? For now they are in my 1st but i am not too happy with that ...
3 Someone to explain to me how do u do transfer in hockey . because its so much different than in football and i got lost
Thanks in advance
Edit: I am on a 6 games losing streak... I don't know why but this tactic starts to fail very much
