1992/93: Lawrence97's Roster Update

Post by archibalduk »

The 1992/93 retro roster update for Eastside Hockey Manager can be downloaded here: http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/vi ... 16&t=14981

Note that this is a very early beta of the roster update; there is still lots to do (e.g. removing award and competition histories from 1992/93 onwards and adding player career histories). Currently only the NHL has updated rosters. Each team has 30 players. Teams that weren’t around then have real players from that era who barley played in nhl but played nonetheless. Contracts for players are a bit low but they quickly get resolved when offering new contracts.

The drafts for the next 14 years are fairly accurate, and include players upto to Tavares. but not everyone is there before I get emails going where is Dany Heatley and so on!(about 75% of players from 2000-2012 are there). Club stadiums and colours and names updated for 92/93.

Some head coaches have been updated for the year 92/93. Select fill key staff when starting a new game- most teams are missing 3/4 personnel.

Start the game with all players from Russia, USA and Canada so you don't miss out on some famous players/coaches in the future (if you don’t start with a full database).

Again this is a first release version of the game- so its not totally perfect yet but it is very playable.

- My first concern was to get the scoring levels to the 92/93 heights- which was very hard to accomplish so you will notice gk attributes are lower than normal- there's not so many great gks(apart from the Roy's and Hasek's obviously!)

Also contracts are a bit low- its on my to do list as are player histories(actually that's been done but I need to adjust the years- will take a bit of time)

All feedback is greatly appreciated. I would also love if someone could do a team logo pack for the team back then that are missing?

thanks
Lawrence

This is awesome! And man I wish that Dave Babych played in Vancouver in real life! But you remove him and the scoring leaders look pretty solid, given it is not even half way through a season.

That was a first! I've run hundreds of simulations, and yes as a by product of trying to get an average of 7 goals a game, defenders can get to high points. Babych is surprisingly good in this game(his attributes are ok)- I think its because he assists bure and courtnall for all their goals. its one reason why I can never get gretzky to 100 assists plus in a season= those pesky defenders get more than their fair share- yet to find a way round this!

I think I've seen Leetch and Lidstrom go past 100 a couple of times(bourque not surprisingly), you normally get about 8 defenders go past 80 points.

Yep i'm taking a week off- the last week has been non stop editing the darn thing(i started on it back in may time!)

The main things to sort out
1)Put it to 2014 rules(mainly for the schedule i dislike immensely the 2006 schedule almost 1/2 the games against the same 5 teams)
2)Realistic contracts
3)Player histories(this is a pain!)

Secondary objectives
4)Get Gretzky and Lemieux to get at least 30pts more a season as they should be hitting 130+ not around the 100 mark.
5)Correct non-player names

Again anything that comes up- or anything that i've missed(I know i've put quebec''s attendance wrong and somehow left Tocchet off the database!) please let me know

Cheers everyone

Great work, Lawrence! Big Up! Thank You!

Fantastic, but I can't decide which team to choose. So many interesting options! :notworthy:

Yeah, i started with Rangers but they are so strong, will probably make a new save with a worse team to make it challenging.

Hello all- I've made some changes to the db- will be ready for a second version release soon.

Changes...

1)Player histories, are almost complete, along with nhl history showing correctly.(30% left to do)
2)Player contracts are now correct, so they become restricted fa and unrestricted fa at the right time(same 30% left to do)
3)DB has 2014 rules(makes the schedule soo much better)
4)Further Player rating adjustments
5)Spelling mistakes and other minor corrections done.

Left to do

1)Non player staffs
2)rest of the player histories.

Again if anyone has come up with anything that I've missed of please let me know.

thanks

That would be perfect- its the one thing i'm rubbish at doing that I really want on the game! As for the next update release- i'm just running a few tests. Come up with a couple of minor issues that are easily fixable and then I can release it.

Hi all.

Someone knows if this database will be updated with all the future draft players?

This is not a bad first draft. If there's any help needed for the revision, I'd be happy to pitch in with roster info. 92-93 was one of my favourite seasons.

FYI Lawrence hasn't logged into TBL since last November 15th (so I'm not sure there's even an update/revision being worked on)

Just wondering how did you guys like the drafts? Anyone played till 2012? I'm playing with the 2006 update now and having a blast drafting all these players we now are big now. Looking forward to do the same with this roster.

Sometimes real life star players underperform. I remember Kyle Okposo in my 2006 db save who didn't develop into something more than 3rd liner.

Is work still ongoing with this mod? I started modding it myself a back by adding players and removing underaged ones from the various bigger North American leagues. It's all very rough (I hesitate to call it a 0.2 version even), but it might interest someone else once I'm finished with it.

It has been a year since we have heard from Lawrence and so I suspect work is no longer ongoing. Do let me know if/when you finish your modified version and I will add it as an alternative download in the Downloads Section.
