3vs3 settings

Post by lemming3k »

My new game is using 3vs3 overtime (I can't remember selecting this, but I assume it was automatic with the rosters/start date I chose) - where do I set up my 3vs3 lines though? I can pick between 2 D or 2 Forwards, but the line settings only has "even strength" which has 4 players? How do I select which one of two D or forwards goes out?

I think it's automatic. You can only choose whether 2 defenders or 2 forwards are used in those circumstances, in the tactics.

Thanks. That's a shame, I want to ensure the correct defenseman plays. Hopefully SI will add this option.

Having sat through OT to watch this, automatic isn't the word I'd use. It just randomly picks players all through OT (completely ignoring ALL pre-set lines).
Nobody injured, suspended, or in the box, and I'm watching a random 2nd line go out with a 4th, then a 3rd and 1st etc etc. It's dreadful. :dunno:

There is a 2 Defender or 2 Attacker setting in the Team Tactics screen, I only used the 2 attackers.

In the Team Tactics section select "Forward usage" to "Just Two"
Select "Defensive Usage" to "Just Two"

I found that with 2 attackers the lines selected were:
First Line LD
First Line LW
First Line C

and

First Line RD
First Line RW
Second Line C

I never experimented with "Just Three", or "2 Defenders". It's the 2D/2A, Forward Usage, and Defensive Usage that appear to drive the selection.
Hope that helps.

Thanks. I suppose that's better than nothing.
Bit of a pain to have to go and set that every time it goes to OT though, as I obviously don't want that for the whole game!
