So has anyone had any luck yet getting a job on these latest builds?

As a 50-year-old (not real :p ) American rec. player, I'm approaching 2019 with no success landing a job, even in the lowest English leagues.

I always appreciate a difficult job hunt, but I'm beginning to wonder if maybe we have a bug somewhere.

I think I'm going to conclude that unemployment is bugged right now.

I've just made it through the summer of 2019, applying rather liberally to jobs ranging from 'professional' teams in the AHL down to 'amateur' teams in the British NIHL 2, and none of them waste much time in hiring someone else.

I guess the easiest way of getting available jobs is by taking control of national team first. I've always managed to get jobs from pretty good teams (like Norway or France) and then increased my reputation. But definitely they need to fix this problem.

I just notice that happen if you put database bigger then minimum...if you put minimum you normaly get a job offer within 4-6 months which is realistic. Bigger Database you choose more GMs are available and i guess less chance you have to get a job. Thats just my opinion and i hope they fix that.

As a slovenian manager with low to no reputation, I got offered Romanian job within the first season, managing in Finnish 3rd league.

EK65 thats interesting as Canadian or Americans normaly shouldnt have problem getting jobs around the world.

Garet thats strange...Im doing a story as unemplyed that you can ready in stories section and i started with Slovenian nationality only. As you saw above in few posts i wrote that very important thing is that if you start unemployed you need to have minimum database so there is not too many managers free as you will hard then get a job...that is my opinion.

But with your reputation and achivements so far its very strange you dont get nothing interesting...

I had to wait around the entire first year as an American manager (I think I might have select Juniors though)and a medium database. I did land a job though--Romanian national team. You have to be careful with that one because I have found you won't apply for national team jobs when on vacation. Since then I have coached in a lower Czech league EIHL and now I am in the states with an AHL team.

I have played as unemployed in multiple saves, and I think the key is definitely coaching a national team, as they have more opportunities to offer reputation boosting achievements (i.e. winning tournaments). The system has its problems, but I do not think it is bugged, as this is essentially how it has always worked for me. Also, for the sake of full disclosure, there were a couple force quits as the Romanian GM--it is pretty easy to get stuck in purgatory as when you are solely a national team coach.

Out of curiosity, what do you have your selected leagues set to - Enhanced or View-Only?

Because I just finally got around to trying the latest patch, and realized that I previously had all my selected leagues set to "View-Only," which you can't play. [I remember always setting my selected leagues to something other than Enhanced and not having an issue. The options must have changed.] I wonder if that is/was the issue.

Anyway, I just started a game with everything set to Enhanced; will have to see if that changes things.

Update: Not having much luck. First, I simmed to the first flood of jobs on July 1st, 2016, then saved a copy of that game. On one save, I applied to a few dozen random jobs (just for testing purposes) in various leagues around the world, and was ignored by all but two teams - both from the ECHL.

On the second save, I've been primarily targeting ECHL and Canadian Junior teams, and have had no luck so far.

EDIT: Nevermind. Literally minutes after posting that update, I get an offer from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the OHL. So I guess it's not necessarily impossible, just really, really tough, and requires a lot of luck and patience.

Has this been fixed yet? I haven´t played for the last few months because I grew tired of having 2 users in order to play both as a club coach and national team coach since no matter what I do I can´t get employed to a better club or a national team. I get ranked 1 both nationally and internationally as a GM, both legit and by editing mine and others GMs reputations in the editor. Even when starting out as a hall of famer, I never get to coach a better national team even when I go and cheat by giving the top 20 GMs 1 in all attributes, then they will just pick no 1 or sometimes even someone from like 100th place.

So, has anything been made to solve this?

Have you posted about this at the SI EHM Bugs Forum? https://community.sigames.com/forum/292 ... ugs-forum/
It's might be helpful if you uploaded your saved game too

I searched "unemployed" in the SI in both the EHM General Questions Forum and the SI EHM Bugs Forum and only saw posts from 2015 (and posts below yours in this thread reference to getting jobs from being unemployed, so I'm not sure your concern is even currently "on the radar" as needing fixing)

Alright, I might. I thought this was the place to write at. But anyway, has this not happened to you for instance? Just try starting a new game calling yourself Captain America and chosing Hall of Famer, picking Penguins to coach right off the start and US as nationality. You will be the top GM noth nationaly and internationaly and if you check your stats compared to the 2nd GM in the world yours will surely be much higher but still you wont get the job, or coach any of the IIHF WCH teams, if you're lucky you'll get to coach a b-team MAYBE. I've tried multiple combinations now and im also 4 seasons into one game trying to cheat even there (even though im doing great by not cheating as well). It wasnt like this at all in the 2007 version of the game.

This is a fan site, with many great resources (like rosters/editors) and lots of great advice, but the official site is where actual bugs should be reported

I rarely "play" EHM, and have never started as unemployed; I'm a tester of EHM (4000 hours worth since EHM:EA was first released) and a roster editor/creator & my testing is geared towards knowledge needed for editing/roster creation and not gameplay playability issues

Trying to get to NHL from euro leagues as a GM

Post by Ukko »

Hello all

Here is my story/issue :

I started a career as a french/norwegian GM in the Norwegian GET Ligaen, as the GM of Stavanger Oilers. I wanted to start in a secondary euro league in order to level up step by step and maybe end up in NHL..

Things go pretty standard I guess : we win the league twice and compete in 4 CHL champs in a row. We beat numerous league records (points, wins, goals scored and some players established club records for their respective roles in points)

The peak is during the 4th year (2018/19) when the team goes into CHL playoffs and my boys get to beat Linköpings and Skellefteå to access the finals against Frölunda, lost 5-2.

This achievement costs us the GET ligaen finals and we can't make it to the CHL again for next year, so I consider upping myself and take control of a SHL, NLA or Liiga team in the need of fresh GM for rebuild or new success.

Here is my problem : despite being 35th in GM reputation after the CHL final, and now 46th, it's like the other teams in Europe just aknoledge my job application and go for someone else, with sometimes poor records and lesser reputation..

What can I do to get hired by a stronger team ? Should I make a new effort and win the League + highest CHL result as possible ?

edit : thanks to the admins for redirecting the post to the adequate thread !

I was wondering how much a bad record from a previous job can affect your reputation in the futur?

In my game where I was fired from North Bay I ended up with 108 wins in something like 230 games IIRC. My reputation wasn't that high, Major Junior player I think and I was wondering if that plus a bad record as a first GM job can make it really tough to find something else?

It's been only four months in-game since I'm fired but I applied for a couple of jobs without success. They were mostly junior leagues like I did with North Bay. Is my career done or I just need to be really patient? Did anyone experienced or know about that?

Because I ain't gonna waste my time simming for nothing and I'll just start over right away. :-p

Suppose it depends what jobs you're applying for?

Might be you could get a low-level international-job or I'd hope you could get a GM job in the lower British leagues at least? Plenty of them don't have GM's (though 4 years in I'm not sure this would still be the case?

Not played much as a Journeyman, might give it a go when the next data is 'out'?

It seems like starting unemployed with a Junior reputation as a start is still not a success. I just passed one year in-game and I've applied in the summer for at least 10-12 jobs (mostly CHL) and none of them hired me. I think it's better to start with a pro reputation to have a chance.

Seems like I had alot of luck landing that North Bay job on my first game. Even with the Major league reputation I couldn't land a job with 10 CHL teams and 1 Britain team. :-p ](*,)

Just wondering (noticed the last reply on this thread was from 2016) is it still very hard to get a job as unemployed? Or has the devs made it easier? Also if you pick a team to start with and not unemployed can you sign with another team later in your career?

I always found a job in Europe (both times in Norway) while starting unemployed in the course of the first season. I'm not sure about NA though. I also always set my reputation to automatic (lowest) and nationality to Slovene.

Further in carreer you can move as you wish (the higher your reputation, the better teams and leagues you can get an offer from). In my recent save I moved from Norway to Switzerland and I'm in Czech rep. at the moment...

There hasn't been a patch made for EHM in ages, so I doubt this has changed at all.

And yes you can change team as you wish. If they sign you of course. :-p You can still switch team by yourself if you desire.
