International transfers

Post by Artoo_Detoo »

Hey guys, I'm playing EHM 2007, and I'm having trouble with international transfers. I want to make a lot of deals for young players playing in Europe to move to the NHL, but I've found that they all need to move after their contracts expires, which is in April, or during the international transfer window, which looks like between June 7th and June 20th. This is really inconvenient because NHL contracts expire at the end of June, which puts pressure on you to try to deal with the 50-man reserve list for just those 10-20 days in June.

Is this normal in real life? How have you guys dealt with getting players from Europe? Do you just release AHLers you don't need and suck up their compensation or do you try to trade them away?

Also, on this topic, how do you guys usually find players to populate your AHL team? Do you prefer signing players you drafted, getting players from the AHL, or getting players from Europe? I've found that I prefer saving draft picks for players I actually want on my NHL team, so I would like to sign players from Europe for my AHL team, which of course has put me into this predicament. Thanks!

Yup, the international transfer window is when you sign players from Europe.

I usually populate my AHL teams with my draft picks. I sign every drafted player, and then send them to the AHL. Sure, you want to spend your draft picks on players you want for your own team, but that means 7 new players every season, and there isn't room for everyone in the first team. Plus some may develope later, so there's no harm signing all of them for the AHL team before your rights expire.
