Now that FA has started, a lot of deals have already been made. Andrew Ladd to NYI(7 year/ $38.5 M), Lucic to the Oilers, James Reimer(5 year/ $3.4m AAV) going to Florida are some of the biggest so far.

Chiarelli bringing in somebody he knows. I wonder what Lucic's cap hit will be.
I find it kind of funny how "Canada Day" and the start of NHL free agency fall on the same day.

Looks like Lucic's salary is 7 years, $42 million.

That's pretty steep and long-term. He's not the player he used to be.
Eriksson got himself 6 years at $6M AAV with the Canucks.
I've also read that Backes has signed with the Bruins but I've heard varying reports on the length of the deal.

I agree, he's going to be 36/37 when that contract is over.bruins72 wrote:OUCH! That's too much for too long.

Hedman extends his contract with TBL ''to an eight-year contract extension. $7.875 per year.''' I think that's a solid deal.

Yes, they've got missing element which they were missing last year (plus Montoya as decent backup for Price), but it's even more interesting with having this story on mind http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1190 ... d-his-teamBam_Margera wrote:That's a rather risk-free deal.Modano wrote:And now Radulov signs 1-year contract with Montreal. I don't think Radulov is "risk free" at any price

Yes he's a great D-man. Worth every penny and he's still young.

Re: Official 15-16 NHL Off-Season Thread
We'll see IMO...a lot of KHL top scorers are 3rd/4th liners in the NHL (look at Moses, top scorer in the KHL but not much in the WC or AHL.....IMO many of the top 10 scorers in the KHL would be lucky to be in the top 100 in the NHL)jhcjobpb wrote:Radulov's only risk is his adaptability. I'm not judging talent level, I'm saying the KHL is a completely different game, and scoring success in the KHL doesn't mean success in the NHL [like last year Semin wasn't wanted by anybody (averaging .32 PPG his last two NHL years), went to the KHL and put up points (averaging .70 PPG in the regular season & .65 PPG in the playoffs)]
I think Radulov will find he won't have the time/space he had in the KHL, he'll be facing "team defense" everywhere he goes, and he'll be hit hard and often (and I don't think his ego act will fly in NA/Montreal...if it did, Subban would still be in Montreal)
I guess we'll see soon enough!

Spot on. I don't mind the deal since it's only 1 year but I was really wondering why they signed someone known for his huge ego right after trading Subban for probably the same reason.nino33 wrote:I don't think his ego act will fly in NA/Montreal...if it did, Subban would still be in Montreal)

Yeah, I'm reading that Subban liked to blame and make excuses http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/p-k- ... ud-lavoie/ + got in fights with teammates (it says a lot that he's never wanted by Team Canada).....I think Subban's game/priorities are Subban based, not team based
I've read a lot on the HF Boards where people want the NHL to be more "NBA like" with more "personalities" - not me, it's the game of hockey I love not the personalities (players come and players go)

I remember reading a lot of "Yzerman's incompetent" talk a few months ago.....now he still has Drouin, resigned Stamkos and Hedman and Vasilevskiy...seems to me things are working out pretty well for Yzerman

If he manages to somehow sign Kucherov as well, that will be an amazing achievement for him. Before, many were speculating Stamkos or Hedman leaving, now he resigned both of them. Good news for Tampa fans!nino33 wrote:I remember reading a lot of "Yzerman's incompetent" talk a few months ago.....now he still has Drouin, resigned Stamkos and Hedman and Vasilevskiy...seems to me things are working out pretty well for Yzerman

Can't really compare Radulov to other KHL top scorers though, he's been in a league of his own in the KHL, super consistent and insanely good.

Re: Official 15-16 NHL Off-Season Thread
Yup! One of the first things Subban said after being traded was "I'm closer to the Cup now" and "I feel they are a better team now."(Nashville) If that's not egocentric. I don't know what this is. I think we saw more of his real personnality right there. Me, myself and I.nino33 wrote:Yeah, I'm reading that Subban liked to blame and make excuses http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/p-k- ... ud-lavoie/ + got in fights with teammates (it says a lot that he's never wanted by Team Canada).....I think Subban's game/priorities are Subban based, not team based

Re: Official 15-16 NHL Off-Season Thread
Even if PK was a problem in the room i think Bergevin failed by 'only' getting Weber in exchange, PK 'should' have given a much better package on the trade market then a 1 for 1 for Weber.
I feel the same way about the Hall trade, even if Hall was a problem in Oilers he should be getting a much better exchange then Larsson, atleast a couple picks added or something.

Re: Official 15-16 NHL Off-Season Thread
I can't see how Bergevin could've gotten more for Subban. Weber is even better than him at the moment IMO. At least more stable.
